Evaluation of effective process for oxidation and coagulation by ferrous ion and hydrogen peroxide

  • This research was carried out to evaluate the removal efficiencies of CODcr and colour for the dyeing wastewater by ferrous solution in Fenton process. The results showed that COD was mainly removed by Fenton coagulation, where the ferric ions are formed in the initial step of Fenton reaction. On the other hand colour was removed by Fenton oxidation rather than Fenton coagulation. The removal mechanism of CODcr and colour was mainly coagulation by ferrous ion, ferric ion and Fenton oxidation. The removal efficiencies were dependent on the ferric ion amount at the beginning of the reaction. However the final removal efficiency of COD and colour was in the order of Fenton oxidation, ferric ion coagulation and ferrous ion coagulation. The reason of the highest removal efficiency by Fenton oxidation can be explained by the chain reactions with ferrous solution, ferric ion and hydrogen peroxide.

부상공정에 의한 수용액으로부터 색 제거 (Colour Removal from Aqueous Solutions by Flotation Process)

  • Column에 공기를 분사시켜 수용액으로부터 색을 제거하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 착색 용액을 제조하기 위해 Basic Yellow 28 및 Direct Orange 31을 사용하였으며, 모든 색은 8분 이내에 제거되었다. Sodium dodecyl sulfate, oleic acid sodium salt 및 amines와 같은 collector는 색 제거에 효과적이었다. 색 제거는 collector의 첨가량과 수용액 pH의 영향을 받는다고 할 수 있으나, 소량의 collector를 첨가하였을 경우에는 pH에 의존하였으나, 많은 양을 첨가하였을 경우에는 pH에 의존하지 않았음을 알 수 있었다.

  • The CMS(color management system) software was to enable consistent color reproduction from original to reproduction. The CMS was to create RGB monitor and printer characterization profiles and then use the profiles for device independent color transformation. The implemented CMM(color management module) used the CIELAB color space for the profile connection. Various monitor characterization model was evaluated for proper color transformation. To construct output device profile, SLI(sequential linear interpolation) method was used for the color conversion from CMYK device color to device independent CIELAB color space and tetrahedral interpolation method was used for backward transformation. UCR(under color removal) based black generation algorithm was used to construct CIELAB to CMYK LUT(lookup table). When transforming the CIE Lab colour space to CMYK, it was possible to involve the gray revision method regularized in the brightness into colour transformation process and optimize the colour transformation by black generation method based on UCR technique. For soft copy colour proofing, evaluating several monitor specialism methods showed that LUT algorithm was useful. And it was possible to simplify colour gamut mapping by constructing both the look-up table and the colour gamut mapping algorithm to a reference table.

아조염료 Reactive Black 5 폐수의 촉매습식산화 (Catalytic Wet Oxidation of Azo Dye Reactive Black 5)

  • 불균일 촉매 CuO를 이용한 반응성 아조계 염료 Reactive Black 5(RB5) 폐수의 촉매습식산화에서 반응온도($190{\sim}230^{\circ}C$) 및 촉매농도(0.00~0.20 g/l)가 폐수의 색도 및 총 유기탄소 TOC 제거에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 폐수의 색도는 분광광도계를 사용하여 측정하였고, 습식산화속도는 TOC를 이용하여 산출하였다. 열분해 조건($230^{\circ}C$, 120 min)에서 폐수의 색도는 약 90%까지 제거되었지만 TOC는 제거되지 않았다. RB5 폐수 촉매 습식산화에서의 폐수의 색도 및 TOC 제거속도는 반응온도 및 촉매농도를 증가시킴에 따라 증가하였다. 촉매의 영향은 0.01 g CuO/l에서 이미 상당히 크게 나타났으며 0.05 g CuO/l 이상에서의 촉매농도 증가에 따른 효과는 작았다. 폐수 색도의 초기변화는 색도에 대한 1차 반응속도론으로 나타낼 수 있었으며, TOC 변화는 폐수 TOC를 쉽게 산화되는 TOC와 난분해성 TOC 로 구분한 global 모델로 묘사할 수 있었다. 반응온도의 폐수 색도 및 TOC 제거속도에 미치는 영향은 Arrhenius 상관관계식으로 묘사할 수 있었다. RB5 폐수의 열분해, 습식산화 및 0.20 g CuO/l의 촉매농도를 사용한 촉매습식산화 조건에서의 색도 제거반응의 활성화에너지는 각각 108.4, 78.3 및 74.1 kJ/mol의 값을 나타내었다. RB5 폐수 촉매습식산화에서의 TOC 제거반응에서 산화 최종산물로의 전환에 대한 난분해성 중간산물로의 전환 비는 페놀 습식산화에 비하여 상대적으로 높았다.

마이크로 버블 부상 공정에 의한 염료폐수의 색도 제거 (Colour Removal from Dyestuff Wastewater by Micro Bubbles Flotation Process)

  • 수용액에서 수용성 염료를 소수성 염료로 전환시킨 후 마이크로 버블을 이용한 침전 및 부상응집에 의한 염료를 제거하는 연구를 수행하였다. 양이온성 염료에 음이온 collector를 반응시키며, 또한 음이온성 염료에 양이온 collector를 첨가하여 소수성으로 변환시켰다. 소수성으로 전환된 염료 용액을 회분식 반응기에 저장하여 마이크로 버블을 분사시켜 색을 제거하였다. 염료 용액을 제조하기 위해 Basic Yellow 1 및 Direct Orange 10을 사용하였으며, sodium dodecyl sulfate, oleic acid sodium salt 및 amine류와 같은 음이온 및 양이온 collector를 사용하면 색 제거에 효과적이었으며, 모든 색은 8분 이내에 제거되었다. 색 제거는 collector의 첨가량과 수용액 pH의 영향을 받으며, 염료농도에 비해 극히 소량의 계면활성제를 첨가하였을 경우에는 pH에 의존하였으나, 염료농도와 비슷한 collector 양을 첨가하였을 경우에는 pH에 의존하지 않았음을 알 수 있었다. 그 이유는 collector와 염료가 1:1M로 반응하여 소수성이 완전히 부여되어야 제거됨을 알 수 있었다.

펜톤산화와 오존산화 조합에 따른 염색폐수의 유기물질 및 색도 처리효율 비교 평가에 관한 연구 (Eveluation of Comparable Removal Efficiency of Organics and Color for the Dyeing Wastewater by Fenton Oxidation and Ozonation)

  • Dyeing wastewater contains recalcitrant organics which can not be easily treated by conventional biological treatment. Therefore it has to be treated by other advanced oxidation process in order to remove COD and Color more efficiently. Fenton oxidation process is one of the most commonly applied processes in removal of COD and color for the dyeing wastewater. However it increase the treatment cost and the production of sludge by the use of the excessive chemical reagent. Ozonation is not suitable in Single treatment process because it is not effective in organics removal compared with Color removal. The purpose of this research in order to evaluate the comparable removal efficiency of COD and color by the combination of advanced oxidation processes for the dyeing wastewater. The sequential treatment processes of Fenton process and ozonation was more effective to remove organics and color than ozonation and Fenton process. The result of Fenton process for the pretreatment presented as the 81% removal of organics whereas ozonation process for the pretreatent presented as the 22.1% removal of organics. The removal of colour was higher as 81.3% for the ozonation as the pretreatment than 77.7% for the Fenton process as the pretreatment.

Degradation of toxic azo dye (AO7) using Fenton's process

  • This study aimed at advanced oxidation of hetero tri-functional reactive dye Acid orange 7 using photo-Fenton conditions in a lab-scale experiment. Decolourisation of Acid Orange 7 dye by Fenton's process was dependent on concentration of Hydrogen peroxide, Ferrous sulphate, pH, and contact time. A $2^3$ factorial design was used to evaluate the effects of these key factors: pH, Fe(II), and $H_2O_2$ concentration, for a dye concentration of 50 mg/L with COD of 340 mg/L at pH 3.0. The response function was removal of colour under optimised conditions; pH 3.0, [Fe(II)] 40.83 mg/L, [$H_2O_2$] 4.97 mmol/L; 13.6 min. of treatment resulting in 100% colour removal. The final COD of treated wastewater was nil suggesting that AOP is a potentially useful process of color removal and dye degradation/mineralisation of effluent having AO7. Minimum contact time for complete decolourisation was at 5 mmol/l $H_2O_2$ concentration. Increase in $FeSO_4$ (mg/l) concentration resulted in decrease of time for complete decolourisation. Box-Behnken Design was used to optimize the process variables. Maximum and minimum levels of pH (3-5), $H_2O_2$ (4-6 mmol/l), $FeSO_4$ (30-46 mg/l) and contact time (5-15 minutes) were used. The statistical analysis revealed a value of 0.88 for coefficient of regression ($R^2$) indicating a good fit of model. Calculated F-value was found higher than the tabulated value confirming to significance of the model. Based on student's t-test, Ferrous sulphate, pH, and contact time have a positive effect on the percent decolourisation of Acid Orange 7.

개질한 sericite를 이용한 염색공장 폐수처리 (Application of Modified Sericite for Dyeing Wastewater Treatment)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the nutrient removal using Mg-Sericite flocculant in the dyeing wastewater. Mg-Sericite flocculant was removed successfully > 98% of the Color, SS. COD and BOD in the dyeing wastewater at the following optimal Mg-Sericite dosage: 100 mg/L for Colour and SS, 300 mg/L for BOD and COD. The removal of TN and TP was obtained 92.00% with 50 mg/L and 87.80% with 100 mg/L Mg-Sericite dosage, respectively. These results was indicated that the amount of 0.79~1.31, 0.22~0.37, 0.5 and 0.16 mg/L Mg-Sericite was necessary for 1 mg/L removal BOD, COD, TN and TP, respectively. The biopolymer, Mg-Sericite, can be a promising flocculants due to its high efficiency and low dose requirements. In addition, Mg-Sericite does not contaminate treated wastewater, which can be recycled to reduce not only the cost and the demand for water but also the extra operational costs for reusing wastewater. This flocculation method is helpful to lower the wastewater treatment cost.

Removal of Methylene Blue by Modified Carbon Prepared from the Sambucus Nigra L. plant

  • An increase in population initiating rapid industrialization was found to consequently increase the effluents and domestic wastewater into the aquatic ecosystem. In this research the potentialities of Sambucus nigra L. (SNL) plant in the remediation of water, contaminated with methylene blue (MB), a basic dye were investigated. SNL was chemically impregnated with $KHCO_3$. Operating variables studied were pH, amount of adsorbent and contact time. In general, pH did not have any significant effect on colour removal and the highest adsorption capacity was obtained in 0.035 g MB/g-activated carbon. The Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich adsorption models were applied to describe the equilibrium isotherms. The adsorption isotherm data were fitted to the Temkin isotherm. The mass transfer property of the sorption process was studied using Lagergren pseudo-first-order and chemisorption pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The sorption process obeyed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The surface area, pores volume and diameter were assessed by the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller and Barrett-Joyner-Halenda methods. The results were compared to those from activated carbon (Merck) and an actual sample. The results indicate that SNL can be employed as a natural and eco-friendly adsorbent material for the removal of dye MB from aqueous solutions.

부상공정의 색 제거에 대한 pH 및 아민 투여량의 영향

  • 부상공정을 이용한 수용액으로부터 색을 제거하기 위한 실험을 수행한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. NaLS를 첨가하였을 때 색 제거율은 투여량과 색 농도의 몰비가 0.6에서 96%, 1.0에서 99%로 나타났으며, NaOl을 첨가하였을 때는 0.6에서 70%, 1.0에서 90%로나타나 NaOl 보다 NaLS를 주입한 경우 색 제거효율이 더 우수함을 알 수 있었다. 2. 3종의 아민류 계면활성제를 첨가하여 Direct Orange 31의 색을 제거한 실험에서는 투여량과 색 농도의 몰비가 0.6미만에서는 pH에 의존하였으나 0.9이상인 경우에는 pH에 의존하지 않았으며, dodecylamine과 색 농도의 몰비가 $0.9{\sim}l.0$, 즉 임계투여량인 12 mg/L에서 색 제거 효율이 가장 우수하였다.
