The input and output device requires precise color representation and CMS (Color Management System) because of the increasing number of ways to apply the digital image into electronic publishing. However, there are slight differences in the device dependent color signal among the input and output devices. Also, because of the non-linear conversion of the input signal value to the output signal value, there are color differences between the original copy and the output copy. It seems necessary for device-dependent color information values to change into device-independent color information values. When creating an original copy through electronic publishing, there should be color management with the input and output devices. From the devices' three phases of calibration, characterization and color conversion, the device-dependent color should undergo a color transformation into a device-independent color. In this paper, an experiment was done where the input device used the linear multiple regression and the sRGB color space to perform a color transformation. The output device used the GOG, GOGO and sRGB for the color transformation. After undergoing a color transformation in the input and output devices, the best results were created when the original target underwent a color transformation by the scanner and digital camera input device by the linear multiple regression, and the LCD output device underwent a color transformation by the GOG model.

This study was aimed to investigate the effects of visual texture on color emotion and to establish prediction models for color emotion by both physical color properties and visual texture characteristics. A variety of fabrics were printed by digital printer according to hue and tone combinations. Subjective sensation was evaluated in terms of visual texture for fabrics printed in gray whereas color emotion for those in chromatically printed. As results, fabric clusters by visual texture showed significant differences in color emotion factors and the differences were clearer for grayish tone fabrics. Prediction models for color emotion factors by both physical color properties and visual texture clusters were proposed as for all fabrics and grayish ones, respectively.
Statement of problem : Direct denture reline resins tend to discolor during service in the oral environment by intrinsic and extrinsic factor. Purpose : This study was designed to evaluate the color stability of direct denture reline resins. Material and methods : Mild Rebaron(GC Corp., Japan), Meta Base M(Sun medical Co., Japan), Mild Rebaron LC(GC Corp., Japan) and as a control group, Vertex SC(Dentimex Zeist, Holland) were chosen for this study. Ten specimens of each direct denture reline resins were fabricated. Treatment methods designed for this study were the coffee staining test(7days) and the accelerated aging test(100hours). The color changes before and after treatment were measured by Tristimulous colorimeter(Yasuda seiki seisakusho, Ltd. Japan) and analyzed. Results All the direct denture reline resins subjected to the coffee staining test and the accelerated aging test showed noticible difference in color change. After coffee staining test, Meta Base M showed the highest color change followed by Vertex SC. Mild Rebaron LC and Mild Rebaron. There were no statistical differences between Meta Base M and Vertex SC and between Mild Rebaron LC and Mild Rebaron(p>0.05). After accelerated aging test. Mild Rebaron LC showed the highest color change followed by Vertex SC, Meta Base M and Mild Rebaron. There were no statistical differences only between Mild Rebaron and Mata Base M(p>0.05) but among the others, there were statistical differences(p<0.05). Conclusion : Within the limitation of this study, all the direct denture reline resins subjected to the extrinsic and intrinsic factors showed noticible difference in color change, and there were differences among manufacturers.
This research was designed to find decision factors through color assortment planning process by Korean women's clothing merchandisers and to look for if there exists difference with American women's clothing merchandisers. A merchandise assortment is a collection of various quantities of styles, colors, sizes, and prices of related merchandise, usually grouped under one classification within a department. The subjects were 20 women's clothing merchandisers who work for clothing retail stores from 5 to 22 years in US and Korea. The authoring process was done for qualitative data analysis. The decision factors of color assortment planning were identified with four stages; information search, qualitative evaluation, quantitative evaluation, and selection. There were differences of color assortment decision factors due to different business types, business sizes, fashion-ability, sourcing ways, and merchandise turnover. Noticeable color assortment decision factor differences caused by country difference were not found except considering the target market ethnicity and skin color in US market. Korea merchandisers seem to be more sensitive to present sales data usages and spot order availability in color assortments because of more local production use than American merchandisers.
The purposes of this study were to evaluate the color differences those can exist between different brands of porcelain with identical shade designation, and to find their causes. For these purposes the following experiments were executed: The color of each opaque and layered porcelain specimen was determined by spectral reflectance measurements with a spectrophotometer. The compositions of each opaque porcelain powder were analyzed by qualitative, and quantitative analysis. Microscopic structures of each opaque porcelain were observed by scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows: 1. Identical shade of different brands of porcelain produced significantly different colors. 2. Color differences among the three brands were found under different light sources. 3. Color differences among the three brands were mostly a result of differences in kinds and amounts of opacifying agents and fluxes and microstructure of porcelain systems. 4. When porcelain systems have similar compositions and firing cycles, they produced similar colors.
The number of newly constructed traditional Korean houses, i.e., Hanoks, and light-frame buildings is increasing. However, related research is limited owing to the lack of awareness regarding safety evaluations. Therefore, this study conducted an outdoor exposure test to accurately evaluate wooden constructions. Spruce, pine, and fir (SPF) material was monitored for a year, wherein the SPF material was artificially dried under 18% moisture content, and its physical properties and color differences were measured once a month. Large differences were observed in the material's weight and moisture content, which are indexes sensitive to daily range and rainfall; however, no significant difference was found for other basic properties in the pre and post test results. Herein, $L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ values represent color differences; these values exhibited a general decrease after the test. Such differences were attributed to the loss of lignin in the wood. The color difference value was high between the months of May and July, when the daily range and rainfall significantly fluctuated. Multiple regression analysis was performed on the $a^*$ value (redness indicator), daily range, rainfall, and ultraviolet index. The results indicated that the daily range influenced redness the most. According to the estimated regression equation, the daily range and redness are positively correlated. Based on the results, the types and influence of independent variables on color difference are expected to change as the wood's duration of outdoor exposure and the amount of data obtained both increase.
In order to get the information needed for the preservation and application of Korean traditional dyeing techniques to modern textiles products, the present study analyzed the color and color differences of dyed goods according to the contents of fabrics and the traditional techniques of dyeing the Buddhist priests' robes. A spectrophotometer was used to measure the differences in achromatic color according to dyeing techniques, dyestuff, kinds of dyed fabrics, and after-treatment methods. Through experiments based on the traditional dyeing techniques used by Korean Buddhist priests, a total of 144 pieces of dyed fabrics were made and all the colors of those 144 pieces were analyzed. Among three dyeing techniques tested; (1) dyeing with a dye-bath made of ink stick that was ground down with water, (2) dyeing with a dye-bath made by shaking a bag containing ink powder in water, and (3) dyeing with a dye-bath made by rubbing a boiled ink stick on a fabric, dyeing with a dye-bath made of ink stick that was ground down with water was shown to be the best technique in terms of coloring. For fabrics, ramie was the best of all three techniques in terms of making achromatic color. Starching and rubbing was the most effective after-treatment method used on both fabrics dyed with a grounded ink stick and on fabrics dyed by rubbing a boiled ink stick on them. As a whole, yangyeonmook, made from minerals' soot, is better than songyeonmook, which is made by burning old pine trees or yooyeonmook, which is made by burning oils from seeds. Therefore, yangyeonmook could help to preserve and utilize the traditional dyeing techniques of Korea in a practical way in modern life.

The tools and techniques for measuring the spectral distribution of light emitted by, transmitted by, or reflected from food surfaces are described for determining the extent to which original natural color is preserved in processing and subsequent storage of foods. Color differences may be evaluated indirectly in terms of some physical characteristic of the sample or extracted fraction thereof that is largely responsible for the color characteristics. For evaluation more directly in terms of what the observer actually seen, color differences are measured by reflectance spectrophotometry and photoelectric colorimetry and expressed as differences in psychophysical indexes such as luminous reflectance and chromaticity. The standard system, against which other systems could be compared, is the one recommended by the International Committee on illumination and which is based on the 'standard observer', which is a simulated standard eye, consisting of three primary color filters Z, with X being essentially amber in color, Y, green and Z, blue. Any spectrophotometric curve of reflectance obtained from the surface of an object can be integrated in terms of X, Y and Z. Psychophysical notation may be converted by standard methods to the colorimetrically more descriptive terms of Munsell hue, value and chroma.

This paper discusses an approach for detecting a new edge in color images. The color image is to be represented by a vector field, and the color image edges are detected as differences in the local vector statistics. This method is based on the calculation for the vector angle between two adjacent pixels. Unlike Euclidean distance in RGB space, the vector angle distinguishes the differences in chromaticity, independent of luminance or intensity. The proposed approach can easily accommodate concepts, such as variable template edge detection, as well as the latest developments in vector order statistics for color image processing. In this paper, it is used not a conventional fixed template operator but a variable template operator The variable template is implemented and experimental results for digital color images are included.

Based on the past research works on the relationship between face types and personality, personality and purchasing behavior, personality and color preference, face types and preference color, the author made a surmise that there could be any differences in color preference of purchasing automobiles according to face types. Objective of this research is to analyze what differences there are preferred colors of purchasing automobile according to face types. The questionnaires for preferred color of purchasing automobile were carefully surveyed, which was classified again by the face types. The result showed the facts, that the reverse-triangle face type preferred red color, the rectangular type yellow one, the round type green one, the diamond type the blue one, respectively. We suggested that the result could be utilized in establishing the automobile sales policy, provided some problems are fixed and the concrete researches into the factors that have influence on buying patterns and into the preferred color are carried out.
