  • In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to detect human faces for controling a camera used in video conference. We model the distribution of skin color and set up the standard skin color in YIQ color space. An input video frame image is segmented into skin and non-skin segments by comparing the standard skin color and each pixels in the input video frame. Then, shape filler is applied to select face segments from skin segments. Our algorithm detects human faces in real time to control a camera to capture a human face with a proper size and position.

컬러 정보를 이용한 무인항공기에서 실시간 이동 객체의 카메라 추적 (The Camera Tracking of Real-Time Moving Object on UAV Using the Color Information)

  • This paper proposes the real-time moving object tracking system UAV using color information. Case of object tracking, it have studied to recognizing the moving object or moving multiple objects on the fixed camera. And it has recognized the object in the complex background environment. But, this paper implements the moving object tracking system using the pan/tilt function of the camera after the object's region extraction. To do this tracking system, firstly, it detects the moving object of RGB/HSI color model and obtains the object coordination in acquired image using the compact boundary box. Secondly, the camera origin coordination aligns to object's top&left coordination in compact boundary box. And it tracks the moving object using the pan/tilt function of camera. It is implemented by the Labview 8.6 and NI Vision Builder AI of National Instrument co. It shows the good performance of camera trace in laboratory environment.

  • This paper presents a composite camera calibration method to determine thermal degradation of power distribution equipment by combining an infrared (IR) camera and a color camera. A calibration jig was first constructed to match the properties of the two cameras. Our calibration and visualization techniques allow for the display of two images, one from the color camera and the other from the IR camera with different field of views (FOVs), on the screen at the same time. To confirm its validity, several case studies have been developed to analyze thermal deterioration limits of indoor and outdoor power distribution facilities.

Demosaicing Method for Digital Cameras with White-RGB Color Filter Array

  • Demosaicing, or color filter array (CFA) interpolation, estimates missing color channels of raw mosaiced images from a CFA to reproduce full-color images. It is an essential process for single-sensor digital cameras with CFAs. In this paper, a new demosaicing method for digital cameras with Bayer-like W-RGB CFAs is proposed. To preserve the edge structure when reproducing full-color images, we propose an edge direction-adaptive method using color difference estimation between different channels, which can be applied to practical digital camera use. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method in terms of CPSNR, FSIM, and S-CIELAB color distance measures, we perform simulations on sets of mosaiced images captured by an actual prototype digital camera with a Bayer-like W-RGB CFA. The simulation results show that the proposed method demosaics better than a conventional one by approximately +22.4% CPSNR, +0.9% FSIM, and +36.7% S-CIELAB distance.

디지털 카메라에서 컬러 필터 어레이를 위한 평가 시스템 (Evaluation System for Color Filter Array (CFA) in Digital Camera)

  • In commercial digital-cameras, color-filter filters light according to wavelength range of color filter array (CFA) and the filtered intensities contain color information of light. Then, output data of CFA is transformed to final rendered image through demosaicing process. In image processing of digital-camera, the quality of the final rendered image is affected by optical cross talk of CFA, kind of CFA pattern etc. Basically, pattern of CFA plays important role in image quality of final image rendered by digital-camera. Therefore, an evaluation system capable of quantitatively evaluating CFA is needed. This paper proposes a novel evaluation system using existing and proposed image metrics for evaluating CFAs of digital-camera. Proposed CFA evaluation system consist of color difference in CIELAB and S-CIELAB, Structure SImilarity (SSIM), MTF50, moire starting point (MSP), and subjective preference (SP). MSP and SP are newly designed for the proposed evaluation system. Proposed evaluation system is expressed in polar coordinates to analyze the characteristics of CFA objectively and intuitively. Through simulations, we confirmed that proposed CFA evaluation system can objectively assess performance of developed CFAs.

View Synthesis and Coding of Multi-view Data in Arbitrary Camera Arrangements Using Multiple Layered Depth Images

  • In this paper, we propose a new view synthesis technique for coding of multi-view color and depth data in arbitrary camera arrangements. We treat each camera position as a 3-D point in world coordinates and build clusters of those vertices. Color and depth data within a cluster are gathered into one camera position using a hierarchical representation based on the concept of layered depth image (LDI). Since one camera can cover only a limited viewing range, we set multiple reference cameras so that multiple LDIs are generated to cover the whole viewing range. Therefore, we can enhance the visual quality of the reconstructed views from multiple LDIs comparing with that from a single LDI. From experimental results, the proposed scheme shows better coding performance under arbitrary camera configurations in terms of PSNR and subjective visual quality.

  • A low-cost and high-speed PDP color inspection system can be constructed by using a CCD camera against a colorimeter. Though the inspection can be done using RGB signals obtained by a camera, it has some difficulty to introduce human color sensitivity. Thus, it is quite desirable to convert the RGB values into the XYZ values that can be compared to the values of a colorimeter. Accordingly, the current study proposes a color conversion method that can analytically calculate the RGB-to-XYZ conversion matrix by utilizing the RGB primaries and the reference white. Experiments on Macbeth colorchecker colors showed that the average color difference between the converted XYZ values of the proposed method and the measured XYZ values of a colorimeter is much below the threshold of distinguishing two adjacent color patches.

컬러 모노 카메라를 이용한 전착 로봇의 자동 제어 (Automatic Control of an Electrophoretic Deposition Robot using a Color Mono Camera)

  • 본 논문에서는 컬러 모노 카메라를 이용한 자동 전착 로봇 시스템 (Automatic Electrophoretic Deposition Robot System)을 제안한다. 전착 로봇 시스템은 실제 전착 작업 수행을 위한 2자유도 직교 로봇과 로봇 자동 제어를 위한 컬러 모노 카메라로 구성되어 있다. 직교 로봇은 전착 작업 특성상 10mm/s까지 저속 구동이 가능하도록 스크류 (Screw)를 사용하여 감속 구동하였다. 컬러 모노 카메라는 로봇과 비커에 부착된 컬러 마커를 인식하여 각각의 위치를 측정하고 측정된 위치를 기반으로 로봇을 제어한다. 또한, 카메라에 의해 비커에 부착된 컬러 마커의 조합을 인식하여 다양한 작업 변수를 갖는 전착 작업을 판단한다. 제안된 자동 전착 로봇 시스템의 효율성을 입증하기 위해 전착 작업 실험을 수행하였고 그 결과를 제시하였다.

  • This paper proposed a framework for handover method in continuously tracking a person of interest across cooperative pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. The algorithm here is based on a robust non-parametric technique for climbing density gradients to find the peak of probability distributions called the mean shift algorithm. Most tracking algorithms use only one cue (such as color). The color features are not always discriminative enough for target localization because illumination or viewpoints tend to change. Moreover the background may be of a color similar to that of the target. In our proposed system, the continuous person tracking across cooperative PTZ cameras by mean shift tracking that using color and shape histogram to be feature distributions. Color and shape distributions of interested person are used to register the target person across cameras. For the first camera, we select interested person for tracking using skin color, cloth color and boundary of body. To handover tracking process between two cameras, the second camera receives color and shape cues of a target person from the first camera and using linear color calibration to help with handover process. Our experimental results demonstrate color and shape feature in mean shift algorithm is capable for continuously and accurately track the target person across cameras.

고해상도 색상 영상을 이용한 저해상도 깊이 영상 보간법 (Low Resolution Depth Interpolation using High Resolution Color Image)

  • 본 논문에서는 Time-of-Flight (TOF) 원리를 이용하여 획득한 저해상도 깊이 영상을 고해상도의 색상 영상에 정합하는 방법을 소개한다. 거리 정보 기반의 3차원 렌더링에서 깊이 영상은 렌더링 결과에 큰 영향을 끼치지만, 기존의 스테레오 정합은 색상 영상의 특성에 따라 성능이 크게 변하고, 깊이 정보를 획득하지 못하는 영역이 존재한다. 반면에 TOF 카메라는 적외선 센서를 통해 카메라로부터 물체까지의 거리를 직접 측정하여 영상으로 출력하기 때문에, 장면의 깊이 정보를 실시간으로 획득 할 수 있고 높은 정확도를 가지는 장점이 있다. 하지만 출력 영상의 해상도가 너무 작아 3차원 응용에 직접 이용하기가 어렵다. 또한, 색상 영상과 다른 카메라를 이용하기 때문에 두 영상의 3차원적 위치와 특성이 서로 다르다는 문제점을 갖는다. 따라서 해상도를 증가시키고 다른 두 카메라로 부터 찍힌 영상을 정합시키는 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 깊이 카메라에서 획득한 저해상도 깊이 정보를 고해상도 색상 정보를 이용하여 두 영상간의 정합이 이루어지도록 한다. 향상된 깊이 영상을 사용하여 3차원으로 복원한 실험을 통해, 제안하는 방법이 효과적으로 장면의 변위 정보를 생성함을 알 수 있다.
