  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the color stability of provisional restorative materials fabricated by subtractive and additive manufacturing. Materials and Methods: PMMA specimens by subtractive manufacturing and conventional method and bis-acryl specimens by additive manufacturing were fabricated each 20. After immersing specimens in the coffee solution and the wine solution, the color was measured as CIE Lab with a colorimeter weekly for 4 weeks. Color change was calculated and data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and the Tukey multiple comparisons test (α = 0.05). Results: PMMA provisional prosthetic materials by subtractive manufacturing showed superior color stability compared to bis-acryl provisional prosthetic materials by additive manufacturing (P < 0.05), and showed similar color stability to the PMMA provisional prosthetic materials by conventional method (P > 0.05). Conclusion: It is recommended to fabricate provisional restorations by subtractive manufacturing in areas where esthetics is important, such as anterior teeth, and consideration of the color stability will be required when making provisional prosthetic using additive manufacturing.

  • Additive color mixture of two different background colors appeared in the afterimage of a gray circle centered on an isoluminant bichromatic background (red/green, blue/green, or blue/yellow background). The chromatic mixture still appeared in the afterimage of a gray circle on a bichromatic background at different luminance levels, and also appeared in a large test field. The saturation of the induced color was observed to increase as the overall luminance of adaptation background stimulus increase of the size of test field decreases. It was found that the chromatic mixture does not appear with a chromatic or achromatic boundary inserted on the center of the test field. The boundary seems to prevent the induced color on each side of test field from spreading to the other side so that the induced color does not appear mixed but divided into two different colors. Without a boundary on the test stimulus, the color information induced in the afterimage seems to be too weak to create a subjective boundary between the two colors and consequently propagate inward appearing mixed.

  • Objective: Eggshells with a uniform color and intensity are important for egg production because many consumers assess the quality of an egg according to the shell color. In the present study, we evaluated the influence of dominant effects on the variations in eggshell color after 32 weeks in a crossbred population. Methods: This study was conducted using 7,878 eggshell records from 2,626 hens. Heritability was estimated using a univariate animal model, which included inbreeding coefficients as a fixed effect and animal additive genetic, dominant genetic, and residuals as random effects. Genetic correlations were obtained using a bivariate animal model. The optimal diagnostic criteria identified in this study were: L🟉 value (lightness) using a dominance model, and a🟉 (redness), and b🟉 (yellowness) value using an additive model. Results: The estimated heritabilities were 0.65 for shell lightness, 0.42 for redness, and 0.60 for yellowness. The dominance heritability was 0.23 for lightness. The estimated genetic correlations were 0.61 between lightness and redness, -0.84 between lightness and yellowness, and -0.39 between redness and yellowness. Conclusion: These results indicate that dominant genetic effects could help to explain the phenotypic variance in eggshell color, especially based on data from blue-shelled chickens. Considering the dominant genetic variation identified for shell color, this variation should be employed to produce blue eggs for commercial purposes using a planned mating system.

  • This study investigated fundamental properties of the colored concrete Corresponding to the various temperatures for plasticity and additive volume of the redmud. the results were summarized as following. There was no difference on the air contents and slumpflow at each temperatures for plasticity. The color tone was high in accordance with increase of temperatures for plasticity, but the drying shrinkage length change was shown in the opposite tendency. The slumpflow was gradually declined, but the air content, compressive strength, color ton and drying shrinkage length change were overall increased when the additive volume of the redmud was increased.

  • The phenomenon of color sensory has been mainly studied on the relation with the stimulus source of light source color according to dispersed energy of light. However, it has not been definitely found that the phenomenon of color sensory be collcerned with evoked potentials stimulated by object color. This paper proposes the method that evoked potentials stimulated by object colors are analyzed and examined on the phenomemon of color sensory. The model of evoked potentials is assumed that it is consisted of an additive noise and a transient signal caused by stimulus. The method which is used to estimate the signal is time-varying filtering.

  • Effect of additive on color reversion of green tea extract, whose undesirable color had been removed by irradiation, was studied during storage. Hunter color L-vague of irradiated sample was significantly higher than that of nonirradiated control. The color of green tea extract with butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) did not differ from that of the control but the green tea extract with ascorbic acid had higher L-value than the control during the whole storage (p<0.05), However, the sample irradiated at 20 kGy showed a faster color reversion than the sample with 5 or 10 kGy of irradiation. Hunter color a-values were decreased by irradiation and the sample with ascorbic acid showed the lowest. The result of Hunter color b-value was also similar to that of Hunter color a-value, indicating that when the irradiation technology is used for color improvement of green tea extract, the ascorbic acid can be added to minimize color reversion of the extract during delivery or storage.

  • The manufacturing characteristics and physicochemical components analysis of Bokbunja jelly made with the addition of different amounts of materials (Bokbunja extract, sugar, gelatin, and pectin) were investigated. There were no significant changes in the pH, total acidity and sugar content of all Bokbunja jelly prepared with different amount of materials. L-value of color in the Bokbunja jelly increased in proportion to additive amount of gelatin. a-value and b-value of color in the Bokbunja jelly increased in proportion to additive amount of pectin. The value of hardness, adhesiveness, and chewiness in the Bokbunja jelly increased in proportion to the additive amount of gelatin. The value of springiness, cohesiveness, and gumminess were increased in proportion to additive amount of petin. The highest of overall acceptability values in the sensory test for color, sweetness, springiness, chewiness, and overall favorite were 5.80, 5.32, 5.27, 5.83, and 6.02, respectively, with the addition of 10% gelatin and 10% pectin.

  • Effects of a carboxylated styrene-butadiene-based liquid additive on the microstructure, mechanical strength and decolorization resistance of inorganic pigment layer in the color block have been examined. More dense inorganic pigment layer characterized by lower apparent porosity, lower water absorption and uniform pigment distribution has been achieved by incorporation of a liquid additive. Also significant enhancements in the mechanical strength and decolorization resistance have been observed.

  • This paper presents a color transformation method based on a uniform color image model. Firstly, color variation factors are grouped into identical (multiplicative) factor and independent(additive) one for the color model, and they are modelled by the Gaussian function. The shape of a color cluster in (R, G, B) feature space is an ellipsoid whose elongated major axis correspond to the direction of mean vector. Secondly, the transformation of a color cluster using the model is studied. A transformation method for three dimensional coordinated is described. The proposed method is applied to artificial and natural color images. By the result of experiments, the elongated major axis of each cluster making up the transformed color image aggress with the direction of its mean vector.
