Multi channel reservation scheme for underwater sensor network (수중 센서 네트워크에서 다중 채널 예약방법)

  • In the RTLS(Real Time Location Based System), in case of existing a number of moving target, extremely complecated data flow is can be occurred. In the network where single gateway exists, various data which was collected from sensor node is transmitted along the simple route as time goes by. In case of multi-gateway configuration, the collected data is transmitted through diverse routes rather than simple route. This kind of data causes jams on nodes and this brings down the performance of the network. Different from existing studies, in this thesis, MAC (Media Access Control) protocol which minimizes data collision between nodes and guarantees QoS(Quality of Service) is suggested, in order to communicate efficiently in multi-gateway underwater sensor network environment. In the suggested protocol, source node which wants to transmit data makes a channel reservation to a number of destination node using a RTS packet. Source node reserves a channel without collision, by scheduling CTS response time using expected delay information from neighbor nodes. Once the reservation is made, source node transmit data packet without collision. This protocol analyzes/estimates the performance compared to a method provided from existing studies via simulation. As a results of the analysis, it was comfirmed that the suggested method has better performance, such as efficiency and delay.

A Comparative Study of Ship Collision Legislation in Korea and China (한국과 중국의 선박충돌법제의 비교법적 연구)

  • The increasing trade volume between Korea and China has rapidly expanded the maritime transport between the two countries. However, safety, particularly considering the ship collisions in the Yellow Sea and East Sea waters, has not been fully ensured. These collision accidents in that region endanger traffic safety and the marine environment, moreover, it has the potential to cause legal complexity because Korea and China haver domestic legislation, that are considerably different in some aspects. International conventions and domestic legislation in China provide detailed laws with respect to ship collisions, however, the theory of ship collision infringement still needs to be improved, enriched, and developed. Because these laws are not very clear on the resolution of disputes resulting from ship collisions, we focused on the final judgments by the Supreme Court of China (SPC), and the judicial judgments set by the Maritime Court of China. This study aimed to explore the domestic legislation applicable to disputes related to ship collisions in China, and comparatively investigate the legal provisions of Korea and China on the issue of ship collisions, particularly on the aspect of damage compensation, fault ration, and liability apportionment.

Transient Coordinator : a Collision Resolution Algorithm for Asynchronous MAC Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks (센서 네트워크 환경에서 비동기식 MAC 프로토콜을 위한 충돌해결 알고리즘)

  • 일반적으로 비동기식 센서 네트워크 MAC 프로토콜들은 별도의 충돌회피 알고리즘을 사용하지 않기 때문에 동기식 MAC 프로토콜에 비해 충돌에 의한 성능 저하가 크게 나타난다. 본 논문에서는 충돌에 따른 비동기식 MAC 프로토콜의 성능 저하 문제를 최소화하기 위해 수신 노드가 충돌을 야기한 송신 노드들의 전송 순서를 제어하여 추가적인 충돌을 제거할 수 있는 비동기식 MAC 프로토콜용 충돌해결 알고리즘을 소개한다. 충돌을 감지한 수신 노드는 충돌을 일으킨 송신 노드들에 대한 정보를 수집하고 이를 이용하여 충돌이 발생하지 않는 전송 순서를 각 송신 노드에게 지정한다. 송신 노드들은 지정된 순서에 따라 독점적인 채널 사용 권한을 얻으며 이를 통해 송신 노드간의 충돌을 회피할 수 있다. 실험에 대한 분석에 따르면 본 논문에서 제안하는 충돌해결 알고리즘은 반복적인 충돌을 방지하여 그로 인해 낭비되는 시간과 대역폭을 줄이고 이를 통해 각 노드당 평균 데이터 처리량을 약 18.6% 증가시킬 수 있다.

Merging of Satellite Remote Sensing and Environmental Stress Model for Ensuring Marine Safety

  • A virtual vessel traffic control system is introduced to contribute to prevent a marine accident such as collision and stranding from happening. Existing VTS has its limit. The virtual vessel traffic control system consists of both data acquisition by satellite remote sensing and a simulation of traffic environment stress based on the satellite data, remotely sensed data And it could be used to provide timely and detailed information about the marine safety, including the location, speed and direction of ships, and help us operate vessels safely and efficiently. If environmental stress values are simulated for the ship information derived from satellite data, proper actions can be taken to prevent accidents. Since optical sensor has a high spatial resolution, JERS satellite data are used to track ships and extract their information. We present an algorithm of automatic identification of ship size and velocity. It lastly is shown that based on ship information extracted from JERS data, a qualitative evaluation method of environmental stress is introduced.

An Adaptive Fast Expansion, Loading Statistics with Dynamic Swapping Algorithm to Support Real Time Services over CATV Networks

  • As the community antenna television (CATV) networks becomes ubiquitous, instead of constructing an entirely new broadband network infrastructure, it has emerged as one of the rapid and economic technologies to interconnecting heterogeneous network to provide broadband access to subscribers. How to support ubiquitous real-time multimedia applications, especially in a heavy traffic environment, becomes a critical issue in modern CATV networks. In this paper, we propose a time guaranteed and efficient upstream minislots allocation algorithm for supporting quality-of-service (QoS) traffic over data over cable service interface specification (DOCSIS) CATV networks to fulfill the needs of realtime interactive services, such as video telephony, video on demand (VOD), distance learning, and so on. The proposed adaptive fast expansion algorithm and the loading statistics with dynamic swapping algorithm have been shown to perform better than that of the multimedia cable network system (MCNS) DOCSIS.

Acute Cervical Spinal Subdural Hematoma Not Related to Head Injury

  • We report an extremely rare case of traumatic cervical spinal subdural hematoma not related to intracranial injury. There has been no report on traumatic cervical spinal subdrual hematoma not related to intracranial injury. A 27-year-old female patient was admitted to our emergency room due to severe neck pain and right arm motor weakness after car collision. On admission, she presented with complete monoplegia and hypoesthesia of right arm. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed subdural hematoma compressing spinal cord. Lumbar cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis revealed 210,000 red blood cells/$mm^3$. She was managed conservatively by administrations of steroid pulse therapy and CSF drainage. Her muscle power of right arm improved to a Grade III 16 days after admission. Follow-up MRI taken 16th days after admission revealed almost complete resolution of the hematoma. Here, the authors report a traumatic cervical spinal SDH not associated with intracranial injury.

  • There is a considerable interest in the generation of a cold atomic beam having a narrow velocity spread that can be used in various experiments in physics such as ultrahigh resolution atomic and molecular spectroscopy, atom optics, atom interferometry, study of solid surfaces, and low energy collision experiments.   • In this paper, we proposed ARAHE(Adaptive Resource Allocation algorithm for HIPERLAN/2 with Error channel). It uses EIB(Error Indication Bits) for efficient resource allocation. We evaluate the performance of ARAHE by simulation and the result shows ARAHE has better performance than current method in the case of delay, utilization and TSR(Transmission Success Rate).

  • 유선망이 ISDN/B-ISDN으로 확장되고, 서비스도 음성에서 데이터, 영상 등의 멀티미디어로 통합 및 발전됨에 따라 무선망에서의 가입자 서비스 요구도 유선망과 대등한 수준으로 확대될 것이다. 이러한 무선 ATM망은 초기 사설망으로부터 서비스가 도입되기 시작하여 마이크로 셀을 기반으로 한 공중망으로 확장되어, 궁극적으로 유무선 통합 transparent 망으로 발전하게 될 것이다. 무선 ATM 망에서는 한정된 무선 자원을 이용하여 다양한 응용 서비스를 효율적으로 제공할 수 있는 다중접속 프로토콜을 필요로 한다. 본고에서는 먼저 현대 MBS에서 연구되고 있는 단일 및 다중 동적슬롯할당 기법을 소개하고 다양한 소스 트래픽에 대한 시뮬레이션을 통해 문제점을 분석하였으며, DSA 프로토콜의 단점을 개선한 두가지 방안의 충돌 해결 알고리즘을 제안하고 동질 및 이질 트래픽에 대한 성능을 비교 검토하였다. 제안된 알고리즘을 이용하여 연결상태에 있는 가상채널의 개수가 증가할수록 시스템 전체의 지연 성능을 현저하게 개선하였다.

  • HomePNA(Home Phoneline Networking Alliance)는 가정에서 전화선을 이용하여 2대 이상의 통신기기들을 서로 공유할 수 있도록 하는 네트웍 솔루션으로, HomePNA2.0은 기존의 HomePNAl.0과 호환성을 유지하면서도 10Mbps로 전송 가능한 새로운 규격이다. 1999년에 규격이 발표되었으며, CSMA/CD를 기반으로 한 DFPQ (Distribute Fair Priority Queueing)방식의 충돌해결 방법을 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 DFPQ에 기반을 둔 새로운 알고리즘을 제안하고, 기존 DFPQ와 비교 및 분석한다.
