Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of new graduate nurses in personal life and in clinical setting during their first year. Methods: Eleven new graduate nurses were interviewed and the data were analyzed using the Giorgi's phenomenological method. Results: The main results of this research were negative experiences such as poor nursing skills, inability to enjoy personal life, physical exhaustion and health problems, and uncertainty of nursing values. On the other hand, there were some positive aspects on their minds: adjustmental/developmental needs, sense of responsibility, receptive capability, and proficiency with their work. They gradually found themselves being endured and changing to adapt. Conclusion: Transition from students to staff nurses is a very stressful experience for new graduate nurses. It may negatively affect their personal lives as well. However they tried to keep themselves positive to overcome their difficulties. It is necessary for them to be given time, a systematic program, and a supportive environment to adapt.
This study was designed to examine body shape control and its related factors, including BMI(body mass index), desire for weight control, satisfaction with body shape, dissatisfaction with specific parts of body shape, starting period of concern about body shape, as well as experience, method, result, counsel, effort, expense and knowledge of body shape control. The survey was completed by 180 female university students in Gyeongsanbukdo through a self-administered questionnaire during September and October of 2006. The subjects were assigned to one of three groups based on self-estimated figure: 47.8% of the students estimated their figure as 'normal', while 38.3% of the students estimated themselves as 'thin' and 13.9% of the students as 'fat'. The results were as fellows. The mean age of the subjects was $19.45{\pm}1.67$ with a height and weight of $161.15{\pm}4.99cm$ and $52.63{\pm}10.78\;kg$, respectively. Their self-estimated figure was significantly related to BMI, desire for weight control, satisfaction, dissatisfaction with a specific part, and experience, counsel and effort in body shape control. This research suggests that students need to know how to properly control body shape in health and beauty.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore and describe healing effects of the forest on alcoholics through a forest experience program. Methods: The qualitative data was gathered from one focus group discussion with 6 alcoholics and individual interviews with 8 alcoholics. They had all participated in a "healing forest" program. All interviews were recorded and transcribed according to thematic content analysis processes. Results: The four main themes on the attributes of forest were "a lively living being", "placidity and tranquility", "acceptive atmosphere", and "beautifulness as it is" which revealed the participants' perceived nature of the forest which was attributed to the healing effects. Eight other themes on participants' positive changes included "revived senses", "aspired to live", "relieved and relaxed from being tense", "gaining insight on self", "having an acceptive attitude", "becoming compliant with his/her life", "learning that life is being together" and "recognizing the value of one's existence". Conclusion: The findings of the study illustrated the participants' self-healing processes through interactions with the nature of the forest. Nursing interventions utilizing healing atmospheres such as "healing forest" programs can be considered helpful in providing a venue to alcoholics to reflect on their lives affirmatively.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of psychosocial wellbeing status and self efficacy on health-promoting behavior of nursing students, and to explore the experiences related to health-promoting behavior. Methods: For this study, an explanatory sequential mixed method design approach was used with survey data collected from 148 nursing students. In addition, qualitative data for exploration of health-promoting behavior experience were collected from three focus-group interviews of 17 participants. Quantitative data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 25.0 and qualitative data were analyzed by making contents analysis with Nvivo 12.0. Results: The results showed that psychosocial wellbeing status, self efficacy, grade, and regularity meal explained 43.0% of the variance in health-promoting behavior. And seven themes from the collected significant statements about experience of health-promoting behavior included the daily life going on without delay; changes in body which is felt; recognizing the necessity of health care; making efforts to increase physical activities; revising eating habit; looking for the way to relieve stress; and attempting to divert my thoughts. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and verify health program in order to improve nursing students' health-promoting behavior. And university authorities and government should make an effort to improve nursing students' health-promoting behavior.

In order to study for the principle of the Dan-Jeon respiration and Seon meditation to be ascetic exercises for the sake of experience of Oriental medicine as practical science, they were investigated the theory of the Jeong-Gi-Shin. The results obtained were as fallows ; 1. The Dan-Jeon respiration was Mahayana of ascetic exercises to act demension of Gi to be observed two sides of material and spirit. 2. The Seon meditation was Mahayanea of exercises to experience demension of Shin to be the subject of life directly. 3. Even though Dan-Jeon respiration takes the golden mean of Shin, it belongs to the category of Jeon-Gi to correspond to appearance of material dimension. Seon meditation utilizes the Jeong-Gi in the stage of the golden mean of Shin. As results, Dan-Jeon respiration does not get out of the world of appearance centering around the Gi. But Seon meditation gets out of the world of appearance and utilizers the relativity in the free absoluteness.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to understand how patients experience everyday life in an isolation unit for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Method: The data were collected from 25 patients with HSCT at the isolation unit from January to March in 2008 in one general hospital in Korea. The data were collected by participant observations and ethnographic interviews and were analyzed using ethnographic method. Results: Four themes regarding environmental area emerged: 'barrier pulling up the drawbridge', 'very strange world', 'small and restricted space tied by IV and other treatment lines', and 'loud noise in a silent space.' Three themes regarding patients emerged: 'facing fear and anxiety', 'continuation of loneliness and lethargy', and 'compromising with a very long, dull, and boring time'. These themes describe how patients with HSCT suffer from continuous physical and psychosocial problems in a confined space, while endeavoring to control these problems and to search for hope for a new life. Conclusion: The results of the study provide an in-depth understanding of the experience and culture of patients in an isolation unit for HSCT. Background: The death rate of workers due to industrial accidents in South Korea (3.61 persons in 2017) is higher than the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development average (2.43) and the fifth highest among Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development member countries. Although the pandemic of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed, the socioeconomic aspects of Korean society, the number of Koreans suffering accidents and the number of deaths in 2020 have increased. It is necessary to take measures to prevent accidents and make comprehensive efforts to return to work. This study proposes research questions about the effect of workers' positive perception on whether to work after accidents and the impact of the experience of rehabilitation services on the return to work. Methods: This research performed a panel logistic regression analysis using data on workers' compensation insurance in Korea for two years (2018-2019). Results: This research finds that workers' positive perceptions of workability and life satisfaction contributed affirmatively to their re-employment. Several factors related to employment (e.g., work period, the number of job qualifications) also positively affect their return to work. However, the experience of rehabilitation services did not have a significant effect on re-employment. The variables of their health conditions (e.g., disability grade, feelings of health problems, age) negatively influenced their return to jobs. Conclusion: These results suggest the importance of workers' mental recovery and the need to innovate rehabilitation services for their employment. Positive thinking and self-rehabilitation could be critical for workers, parallel with social welfare policies.

The primary purpose of this study was to develop a college adjustment program for freshmen through admission officer system that relies less on test scores and on the various talents evaluated by admissions officers. To help these talented students adjust the new life of the university and enhance their gifts, a college adjustment program was developed with their special needs and characteristics. For that, the survey with 57 students and in-depth interviews with 12 students were conducted. The results revealed that the students wanted to learn study skills, self-management, global mind setting, and life vision and goals setting. Most of the students were worried about their grades because they entered the school with their talents and experience in diverse activities not SAT scores. To promote their academic performance, this program consisted of an academic readiness program which complements students' abilities in primary subjects like math, English, and science, and a potential progress program which is peer-group learning communities based on their own interests like global learning communities, creative learning communities, and service-learning communities. This program was suggested in the context of Comprehensive Development Model. To carry out the program systematically, related organizations and colleges should collaborate with each other.
Previous research has empirically demonstrated the negative effects of social media use on young people's psychological well-being. Unlike most previous studies that focused on either Facebook or Instagram, this study comparatively examined the differences in upward comparison and its effects on self-esteem, life satisfaction, and depression between Facebook and Instagram. An analysis of survey data from 641 Korean college students, who reportedly use these two social media more actively than any other age group, found that college students experience more upward comparisons on Instagram than on Facebook. Upward comparisons on both Facebook and Instagram increased by college students' age and weekly usage time. Upward comparisons on Instagram increased by the additional factors of gender (females more than males) and number of "followings." Subsequently, the effects of upward comparison on psychological well-being were found to differ by social media platform. Upward comparisons were found to negatively impact all determinants of psychological well-being only on Instagram, but not on Facebook. The differences in upward comparison and its impact on young users' psychological well-being found in this study were discussed in terms of the different functional characteristics of the two social media platforms, which provides direction for further research needed to establish guidelines for healthy social media use by young people.
