A Comparative Study of Waste Collection Technologies (생활폐기물 수거 방법의 비교 연구)

  • Due to the urbanization, lots of people are living in cities. It is very convenient to live in the cities for the people but at the same time, the highly populated city has several environmental problems. During delivery process of large amount of municipal waste generated from the cities, the automobile emission and traffic jam have been occurred. The waste collection in the cities has been mainly done by using labour force and delivery truck. This is the conventional waste collection up to now. Recently, new technologies like automated waste collection system and capsule transportation have been introduced. Conventional waste collection mainly relied on the labour force and truck delivery does not need to invest a lot of money for the start-up. However, it requires to pay the operational cost both for the labour force and the truck delivery. On the contrary to this conventional waste collection, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation require high initial investment cost. However, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation can reduce significantly the pollutants emission, traffic jam by the waste trucks and actual waste collection cost per ton. In dealing with the waste collection in the cities, new waste collection technologies could be properly combined with the conventional waste collection for the effective municipal waste treatment.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the problems of disposal and collection, including administrative management of agricultural PE waste and suggest effective management measurements. Information regarding problems of agricultural PE waste management were collected from field survey of farmers, regional governments and officials. On the national level, the low ratio of collection for optimal treatment of agricultural PE waste is a critical problem. , the negative discharging behavior of farmers, an illegal incineration and landfill of farmers and a lack of education and extension etc. An ambiguity of the management principle to agricultural PE waste, the differences in management among the regional governments, a lack of will of the regional governments and officials to realize SARD and lack of education and extension etc. are some of the problems in administrative management of agricultural PE waste collection. The major suggestions of this study are as follows : (1) to strengthen education and extension, (2) to adopt an improved economic incentive system and strong, lawful regulation simultaneously, (3) to use temporang collection and permanent collection site, and (4) to organize "OTC(Optimal Treatment Conference)" composed of farmers, regional cooperative, PE producers etc. for operating an effective management system.

  • The Electrostatic Precipitator is one of the most favorable device of particulate control systems because of the relatively higher collection efficiency and easier operation/maintenance. However, it requires very high initial coat especially for discharging electrodes and collecting plates. In dealing with such problems, development of optimum design can be one of the solutions. In this study, a bench-scale electrostatic precipitator was operated in terms of collection area and corona power, and its performances were analyzed focusing on collection efficiency. A result of this study, a more advanced approach for designing cost-effective precipitator by promoting corona power at a minimized collection area was proposed.

A Basic Study on Developing an Electrocharged Scrubber (전기하전식 세정집진장치 개발에 관한 기초 연구)

  • This study has been performed to develop an efficient electrocharged scrubber. To improve collection efficiency of the scrubber, electric-charger was installed at the forefront of the packed crossflow scrubbers, and an experiment of changing discharge electrode shape and fluctuating electric field strength was undertaken. After using a light-oil boiler for generation of particles in the about 80% weight of submicron size particles was exhausted. Collection characteristics of the electrocharged scrubber were similar to those of two-stage electrostatic precipitator. In this study the collection efficiency of submicron size particles has been much improved, compared with the previous ones. In an experiment of changing discharge electrode and electric field strength, a needle-spike shape wire electrode showed a higher collection efficiency than round shape wire. The collection efficiency becomes increased with an increase of electric field strength.

  • In an electric traction system in which power is supplied from a catenary via a pantograph, the mechanical design of the catenary and pantograph is clearly of importance in relation to the problem of current collection at high speed. A computer-simulation technique is used to study the effects of changing parameters of pantograph and catenary on the quality of current collection at high speed. The current collection system is evaluated on the basis of the contact-force variations and displacement responses of the pantograph and contact wire. This study shows that current-collection quality is determined primarily by the overhead line parameters rather than by the pantograph. The results can be applied to optimize the design of current-collection systems.

  • In Korea, more than half of medical libraries are small.sized hospital libraries operated under the single.librarian system, and it is keenly required to establish collection management policies for exchanging resources with other libraries and maintaining consistency. however, it is rare to set up their collection management policies on the web among the domestic medical libraries. Thus, this study purposed to survey cases of collection management policies in domestic and foreign medical libraries and to provide basic information and ideas for Korean medical libraries that are preparing collection management policies. As long as core requirements are satisfied, collection management policies do not have a way. Thus, this case study is expected to provide useful ideas to medical libraries developing their collection management policies. For this purpose, we selected 12 survey items based on previous studies, and investigated one domestic and five foreign medical libraries, and analyzed collected data. Based on the results of analyzing the cases, we suggested 12 guidelines.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the loss amount of collection at the different of precipitatation time, high voltage and gas speed. This work has focused on the dependence of the collection efficiency in the collector zone with gas speed and high voltage. This advanced Model is developed by research of the different parameter as the conventionnal modem of study. In order to investigate collection efficiency of electrostatic precipitator, the loss amount of knocking was measured with Monitek-Treubung and the particle size was analyzed by He-Ne laser diffraction spectroscopy.

A comparative study of Chinese robe styles in Paris and Beijing collections (파리와 베이징컬렉션에 나타난 차이니즈 포복스타일 디자인 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the Chinese robe styles of the Paris and Beijing collections from 2014 to 2018 to find the differences between the expressions of European and Chinese designers on the Chinese robe style. The methods of research were a literature review to derive the design analysis items of Chinese robe styles, and a case analysis. The results are as follows. First, both the Paris and Beijing collections showed an increase in use of Chinese robe styles year by year. Second, in the Paris collection, designs using qipao styles from the Republic of China era appeared the most among the robe styles of various Chinese dynasties. Qipao style appeared the most in the Beijing collection too, but the robe styles from the era of Pre-Qin, Qin, Han, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties appeared more often than in the Paris collection. Third, in the comparison of silhouette type, there were mostly X-type silhouettes in the Paris collection and A-type silhouettes in the Beijing collection. As for neckline and sleeve type, both collections showed stand collars and tube sleeves. Fourth, in color comparison, there were mostly red-based colors in the Paris collection and blue-based colors in the Beijing collection. Fifth, in the comparison of pattern type, there were the mostly plant motif patterns in the Paris collection, and complex patterns in the Beijing collection. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the Chinese robe styles of the Paris Collection expressed a design fused with various styles due to the tendency to respect the diversity of various cultures and of the Beijing Collection emphasized the beauty and ethnicity of traditional Chinese clothing.

A Study on Separated Collection and Recycling in Apartment Housing Areas in Taegu Metropolitan City (대구시 아파트지역의 분리수거 및 재활용에 관한 연구)

  • Recycling is receiving increasing social attention today as our nation begins to grapple with the significant problems caused by huge amount of municipal solid waste. The topic of recycling is not simple but extremely complicated. This study attempts to provide basic data and policy options for expanding and improving separated collection and recycling in public residential areas, through three case study of apartment housing areas in Taegu Metropolitan City. The main results of this study are summarized as follows. For the significant period of time, all three case areas had in common the extreme difficulty in establishing and operating the system of connecting public participation, collection and storage, transportation, and actual recycling of materials because of a variety of problems involved in this process. Both amounts of and prices for collected materials fluctuated considerably over time mainly due to monthly changes in recyclable home materials and the dynamic nature of recycling markets. Public questionnaire survey revealed the very high level of participation in separated collection, not only because almost all respondents well understood the necessity and importance of recycling, but because they also knew how to do separated collection. But overall activities were rated low and most respondents suggested the enlargement of public participation, the improvement of collection and storage facilities, and collection transportation networks. In particular, most respondents had little experience of using recycled Products and used mainly reproduced soap and bathroom tissue. Furthermore, they were considerably unsatisfied with low variety and quality of recycled products, their high prices and low availability in the market. Finally potential policy options and activities for improving separated collection and recycling are suggested.

  • This study is based on the practical use for distributed resources considering growing network rapidly. The focal point of this study will be argued on semantic interoperability for sharing of resources, not be emphasized the technical issues of network. The aim of this article is developing the model of Collection-Level Description(CLD) for sharing of resources. The present article consists of a definition of collection in relation to the scope, objectives, and agents of the collection and an analysis of researches about CLD strengths and standards. Lastly, it was intended to construct the model focused on relation which was needed to be strengthened the existing CLD's function, thus, this study attempted to use the concept of ontology. The model of CLD based on ontology suggested the description could represent new relations inferred between classes and properties. Distinguishing class and property, furthermore, this study suggested properties were separated the characteristic of class and the relation with classes.
