The goal of this study is to suggest the models for establishing and operating the collaborative repository for academic libraries by region in Korea. For this purpose, author analyzed the status of academic libraries by provinces and types, the collection space shortage of academic libraries, location and evaluation criteria of collaborative repository. And based on these analysis results, author proposed the basic principles, key functions and practices to accomplish, architectural scales of the collaborative repositories, transfer criteria and ownership model of library collection, desirable management and operation unit of the collaborative repository.

Therefore, the government and all of metropolitan must establish the collaborative repositories as soon as possible.

The goal of this study is to analyze the feasibility of establishment of the collaborative repository for public libraries in Korea. To that end, its feasibilities were analyzed from the sides of the relevant laws, national policy, library's recognition, and actual collection space. As a result, the feasibility of establishment of the collaborative repository was revealed by enough. Accordingly, based on the this basic research, there is a need to develop immediately the construction and operation model of the collaborative repository. And the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and metropolitan city and province must grant priority of cultural policy in the establishment of the collaborative repository.

The 3rd Library Development Plan raises the need to secure space through the establishment of a regional repository library as the issue of holding books is highlighted as a common problem in public libraries. The Korean Library Law Act also impose the responsibility of integrated management of local library materials on the regional representative library. Accordingly, this study aimed at Busan Metropolitan Library, which is operating a collaborative repository in earnest among regional representative libraries, and investigated the operation status of the collaborative repository and the perception of public librarians about the collaborative repository. The data necessary for the study were obtained through surveys, interviews, field surveys, and internal data analysis. Through this, the purpose of this study was to provide basic data that will help the Busan Metropolitan Library to operate the collaborative repository efficiently in the future, and at the same time, to present basic data that can be used as a reference for the operation of the collaborative repository of the representative libraries of other regions.

The goal of this study is to review the importance and to prove the feasibility of establishment and operation of the academic collaborative repositories in Korea. To that end, its importance was analyzed from the sides of collection space of libraries, national management of academic information resources, cases of collaborative repository. And its feasibility was logically proved in terms of the global production and distribution of knowledge and information, library relevant laws, national policies of academic information resources, and actual collection space of academic libraries. As a result, the importances and feasibilities of establishment of the academic collaborative repository were revealed by enough. Accordingly, there is a need to develop immediately the establishment and operation model of the collaborative repository for academic libraries.

This study was conducted to investigate the materials deposit policies and service policies of overseas collaborative repositories and provide practical data that can be referred to the management of the collaborative repository in Korea. For this purpose, this study tried to analyzed websites of 7 collaborative repositories and related data. Materials deposit policies were focused on duplicate materials, criteria of materials to be accepted, ownership and withdrawal and service policies were focused on on-site services and off-site services including circulation and document delivery service(electronic copy and photocopy). The results of this study can be used as practical data for the establishment of guidelines for collaborative repository in Korea.

In this paper, we suggest a PLCS-based architecture and operation method for providing interoperability in SBA integrated collaborative environment. Specifically, the suggested architecture is based on the distributed collaborative environment which employes the PLCS application protocol and integrated repository for representing and sharing product data information between collaborators remotely located. As an example of data representation, a military vehicle system is considered and two kinds of information, including state and activity/process, are explained. We expect that the suggested architecture can be used as a reference model to develop an efficient SBA integrated collaborative environment.

The OSGi framework is a java-based service platform that can be remotely managed, providing an application life cycle management model, a service registry and an execution environment. Based on the framework, various OSGi layers, APIs, and services have been defined. A bundle is an application that can be executed in the OSGi framework, deployed through a bundle repository. Usually, bundles in the repository are accessible via a designated web page. Unfortunately, the current bundle repositories do not provide any kind of group access services and dynamic bundle installation and deployment. In this paper, we describe a WebDAV-Based OSGi bundle repository named WOBR, which supports effective group-based accesses. WOBR is composed of a WOBR bundle repository, a management bundle and an access bundle that interact with the bundle repository. The management bundle is for configuration of the WOBR bundle repository, managing group access facility to the repository. The access bundle provides access to the repository and search mechanism for the bundles. Additionally, it provides the life cycle management of the installed bundles on the local environment.

The goal of this study is to propose the plan for activating collection services of public library in Seoul. For this goal, author analyzed and compared the core infrastructure, collection services, and their correlation of public libraries in 16 local governments and evaluated environment and the current situation of collection service of public libraries in Seoul. Based on the these results, author suggested five plans or strategies for vitalizing the collection services of public libraries. All public libraries in Seoul must maximize the visibility of the new collections, supply the culture(life-long learning) programs based on library collections, expand the breadth of the collection service through library cooperation system, strengthen interlibrary loan by establishment of the collaborative repository, and raise the awareness of the citizens about the library and collections.

Efforts to establish a joint preservation facility for library materials are being discussed in the regional representative libraries recently, but this is mainly a movement in public libraries. This study aimed to provide a model for a joint preservation facility construction and management especially for the National Universities Library in Busan/Gyeongnam area. For this job, after analyzing the current situation, this study focuses on 1) estimated size of the planned facility calculated by investigating the size and equipment, operation policy, collection quantity and saturation status of participating library archives, 2) strategies for construction, proposed a joint preservation architecture construction management model such as organization and human resources, and standards for transferring materials.
