  • User-based collaborative filtering is a method of recommending an item to a user based on the preference of the neighbor users who have similar purchasing history to the target user. User-based collaborative filtering is based on the fact that users are strongly influenced by the opinions of other users with similar interests. Item-based collaborative filtering is a method of recommending an item by comparing the similarity of the user's previously preferred items. In this study, we create a recommendation model using user-based collaborative filtering and item-based collaborative filtering with consumer's consumption data. Collaborative filtering is performed by using RFM (recency, frequency, and monetary) technique with purchasing data to recommend items with high purchase potential. We compared the performance of the recommendation system with the purchase amount and the performance when applying the RFM method. The performance of recommendation system using RFM technique is better.

  • In this study, we develop that Location Recommending System using personal emotion information based on Collaborative Filtering. Previous Location Recommending System recommended a place visited by the user of the rating or the pattern of location for the user place. These systems are not high user satisfaction because that dose not consider the user status or have not objectively the information. Using user's personal emotion information to recommend a high-affinity users who have visited the place felt similar emotions objectively can improve user satisfaction with the place. In this study, a user using a mobile application directly register the recognized emotion information using the current position and bio-signal, and using the registered information measuring the similarity of user with a similarity emotion, predicts a preference for the place it is recommended to emotional place. The system consists of a user interface, a database, a recommendation module.

  • Due to the explosion of e-commerce, recommender systems are rapidly becoming a core tool to accelerate cross-selling and strengthen customer loyalty. There are two prevalent approaches for building recommender systems - content-based recommending and collaborative filtering. Collaborative filtering recommender systems have been very successful in both information filtering domains and e-commerce domains, and many researchers have presented variations of collaborative filtering to increase its performance. However, the current research on recommendation has paid little attention to the use of time related data in the recommendation process. Up to now there has not been any study on collaborative filtering to reflect changes in user interest. This paper proposes dynamic fuzzy clustering algorithm and apply it to collaborative filtering algorithm for dynamic recommendations. The proposed methodology detects changes in customer behavior using the customer data at different periods of time and improves the performance of recommendations using information on changes. The results of the evaluation experiment show the proposed model's improvement in making recommendations.

  • Combining collaborative filtering with some other technique is most common in hybrid recommender systems. As many recommended items from collaborative filtering seem to be similar with respect to content, the collaborative-content hybrid system suffers in terms of quality recommendation and recommending new items as well. To alleviate such problem, we have developed a novel method that uses a diversity metric to select the dissimilar items among the recommended items from collaborative filtering, which together with the input when fed into content space let us improve and include new items in the recommendation. We present experimental results on movielens dataset that shows how our approach performs better than simple content-based system and naive hybrid system

  • Collaborative filtering systems based on {user-document} matrix are effective in recommending web documents to user. But they have a shortcoming of decreasing the accuracy of recommendations by the first rater problem and the sparsity. This paper proposes the automatic preference rating method that generates user profile to solve the shortcoming. The profile in this paper is content-based collaborative user profile. The content-based collaborative user profile is generated by combining a content-based user profile with a collaborative user profile by mutual information method. Collaborative user profile is based on {user-document} matrix in collaborative filtering system, thus, content-based user profile is generated by relevance feedback in content-based filtering systems. After normalizing combined content-based collaborative user profiles, it automatically rates user preference by reflecting normalized profile in {user-document}matrix of collaborative filtering systems. We evaluated our method on a large database of user ratings for web document and it was certified that was more efficient than existent methods.

  • The Paper Explores The Problem Of Recommending Talks To Attend At International Research Conferences. When Researchers Participate In Conferences, Finding Interesting Talks To Attend Is A Real Challenge. Given That Several Presentation Sessions And Social Activities Are Typically Held At A Time, And There Is Little Time To Analyze All Alternatives, It Is Easy To Miss Important Talks. In Addition, Compared With Recommendations Of Products Such As Movies, Books, Music, Etc. The Recipients Of Talk Recommendations (i.e. Conference Attendees) Already Formed Their Own Research Community On The Center Of The Conference Topics. Hence, Recommending Conference Talks Contains Highly Social Context. This Study Suggests That This Domain Would Be Suitable For Social Network-Based Recommendations. In Order To Find Out The Most Effective Recommendation Approach, Three Sources Of Information Were Explored For Talk Recommendation-Whateach Talk Is About (Content), Who Scheduled The Talks (Collaborative), And How The Users Are Connected Socially (Social). Using These Three Sources Of Information, This Paper Examined Several Direct And Hybrid Recommendation Algorithms To Help Users Find Interesting Talks More Easily. Using A Dataset Of A Conference Scheduling System, Conference Navigator, Multiple Approaches Ranging From Classic Content-Based And Collaborative Filtering Recommendations To Social Network-Based Recommendations Were Compared. As The Result, For Cold-Start Users Who Have Insufficient Number Of Items To Express Their Preferences, The Recommendations Based On Their Social Networks Generated The Best Suggestions.

  • Children exhibit different behaviors, skills, and motivations. The main aim of this research was to investigate children's sensibility factors for icons, and to look for the best typeface for application to Web-Based Instruction (WBI) for e-Learning. Three types of icons were used to assess children's sensibilities toward metaphors: text-image, representational, and spatial mapping. Through the factor analysis, we found that children exhibited more diverse reactions to the text-image and representational types of icons than to the spatial mapping type of icons. Children commonly showedn higher sensibilities to the aesthetic-factor than to the familiarity-factor or the brevity-factor. In addition, we propose a collaborative-typeface system, which recommends the best typeface for children regarding the readability and aesthetic factor in WBI. Based on these results, we venture some suggestions on icon design and typeface selection for e-Learning.

  • Among the analysis methods for a recommendation system, collaborative filtering is a major representative method in a recommendation system based on data analysis. A general usage method is a technique of finding a common pattern by using evaluation data of users for various items, and recommending a preferred item for a specific user. Therefore, in this paper, various algorithms were used to measure the index, and an algorithm suitable for prediction of user preference was found and presented.

  • A collaborative filtering which supports personalized services of users has been common use in existing web sites for increasing the satisfaction of users. A collaborative filtering is demanded that items are estimated more than specified number. Besides, it tends to ignore information of other users as recommending them on the basis of information of partial users who have similar inclination. However, there are valuable hidden information into other users' one. In this paper, we use Association Rule, which is common wide use in Data Mining, with collaborative filtering for the purpose of discovering those information. In addition, this paper proved that Association Rule applied to Recommender System has a effects to recommend users by the relation between groups. In other words, Association Rule based on the history of all users is derived from. and the efficiency of Recommender System is improved by using Association Rule with collaborative filtering.
