When VMI with Consignment Brings Benefit to Supply Chain Members?

  • Purpose: This study intends to examine how VMI with consignment performs over time and find out its on-going impacts on the individual supply chain member's achievement. Research design, data, and methodology: This study formulates the mathematical model that represents two-stage supply chain system. By analyzing the numerical examples, this study compares VMI with consignment with the traditional system. Results: VMI with consignment eventually makes higher supply chain profit than the traditional system, even though it's early performance is poor. The influence of VMI with consignment on the performance of the supply chain member is distinct depending on the individual member and time. The consignment may not be helpful to increase the system profit, but it reduces the manufacturer's burden of costs. Conclusions: VMI with consignment improves the supply chain performance after all, and it still takes times until its benefit becomes fully realized. To be a successful collaboration program, VMI with consignment requires a carefully designed incentive scheme that provides the timely compensation to the individual supply chain members. This study also finds out that the consignment contract of this collaboration program plays a role of financially supporting the manufacturer at the early stage of its implementation.

  • This study aims to identify the problems of the records management of the foothold national university related university-industry collaboration. For these purpose, the study conducted a literature survey. Moreover, this study compared and analyzed the content of university archives and university-industry collaboration web sites. In addition, we gained the materials from the national archives in Korea thorough a request of information disclosure. It was found that problems and improvements in terms of institutional and achievement management. Consequently, based on the analysis, cooperation framework between university archives and university-industry collaboration was developed. With the proposed system, the academic utilization of university-industry collaboration records can be facilitated.

  • This paper tries to extend the conventional conceptual framework of the Internet of Things (IoT) so as to reify an advanced pervasive IoT-community collaboration concept, which is called the process-aware Internet of Things. The extended conceptual framework is embodied as a referential architecture that can be a standardized reference model supporting the conceptual integration of the Internet of Things and the process awareness. The extended referential architecture covers the full range of the architectural details from abstracting the process-aware behavioral semantics to reifying the IoT-process enactments. These extended framework and architecture ought to be the theoretical basis for implementing a process-aware IoT-community computing system supporting process-aware collaborations of Things in pervasive computing environments. In particular, we do point up that the proposed framework of the process-aware Internet of Things is revised from the Internet of Things framework announced in ITU-T SG133 Y.2060 [26] by integrating the novel concept of process awareness. We strongly believe that the extended conceptual framework and its referential architecture are able to deliver the novel and meaningful insight as a standardized platform for describing and achieving the goals of IoT-communities and societies.

Review of Quick Response: Investigation on its Fundamental Role of Supply Chain Collaboration

  • Purpose - This study investigates the key features of Quick Response as the fundamental form of supply chain collaboration by reviewing the selected past studies. Based on the findings from the literature review, this study provides the guideline for future researchers and business practitioners who search for more advanced collaboration programs. Research design, data, and methodology - This study conducts the literature review on the past studies that had researched Quick Response. The selected studies are analyzed in terms of how to represent Quick Response in the models and which issue to address. Results - This study finds that the past studies lack a unified concept of Quick Response, and they fail to provide the consistent guideline on how to run this program in practices. The literature review also shows that only a small number of research issues has been addressed by most researchers. Conclusions - On the purpose of figuring out the real value of Quick Response, this study suggests that future studies apply its extensive application to the entire supply chain system. This study also shed light on the potential of Quick Response to be a more advanced supply chain collaboration program with additional collaborative functions other than information sharing.

In particular internet technologies provide improved accessibility to information for facility management customers and users for the systems. This study is the architectural data exchange system development more effective management and accept using on Internet web environment. This paper is the explore the use of computers in architectural planning that how the information may be extracted drawing entered into database and exchanged architectural detail data interfaces. System support communication and interactive collaboration among designers through complex Building object during the Design. There are four part in collaborative design system. User Management system, Standard Database System, Project Database System and Interface system. All Data are recognizable format include drawing file and contents. Web/DB server supported communication and collaboration among partners in the building design and construction process. Collaborative Design system is provide new conceptual framework that exist in the Web.

A Study on the Relationships between Organizational Factors and Characteristics of Category Management System in Domestic Retail Industry

  • This study conducted to identify the impact of organizational factors on the characteristics of category management system, market orientation and collaboration orientation, in domestic retail industry, and also to identify the relationship between organizational factors and category management system's characteristics varies depending on the business type, retailer and supplier. To accomplish these research purposes, the study performed statistical analyses using a total of 94 samples. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, the organizational factors that affect market orientation of the category management system were found to be information technology infrastructure and organizational management system, and the organizational factors that affect collaborative orientation of the category management system were found to be partnerships and organizational management systems. Second, the relationship between market orientation and collaborative orientation of the category management system does not differ by the business type.

  • This study researched the relationship of effect of management awareness of corporate members, system buildup and strategic operation on corporate performance through industry-university collaboration networking. The result of the study are as follows. First, as the importance of industry-university collaboration, system buildup networking was proved to provide the greatest influence on the corporate performance. Second, it presents to form the bond of sympathy with members on corporate management which is built through industry-university collabora-tion. Third is the importance of strategic operation. Strategic operation was prove to have high influence on corporate performance. Fourth is to prove the relationship between system buildup and strategic operation of industry-university collaboration networ- king. The system buildup provides an important impact on corporate strategic operation. Fifth is the system buildup through management awareness by through industry-university collaboration. Lastly, the relationship between management awareness and corporate performance was found to be significant. Management awareness of members can be presented as an important variable on corporate performance. This study is to present the fact that it is important to secure competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses, to develop a way for creative improvement and to secure a way for strengthening the competitiveness, and to strengthen the corporate competitiveness through reinforcement of industry- university collaboration networking.

  • This paper proposes the distance-video-guarding system technology based on collaboration CBM personal computer which enables additional functions such as monitoring each room while the guarding is in progress. This system sends the atmosphere of guarding by checking the status of environment with the sensor using ISDN. Current remote guarding desktop system uses leased lines (T1/E1 ) applying fast speed rate and security. This system provides an external monitoring system which runs on ISDN Public line also. Monitoring system transfers the natural status of each site to center controller of the guarding system.

Implementation of a High-Quality Audio Collaboration System Over IP Networks (IP 네트워크 기반 고품질 오디오 협업 시스템)

  • In this paper, we implement several methods to improve an audio collaboration system over IP networks, and then evaluate the performance of the implemented methods. In general, speech and audio quality degrades depending on the characteristics of IP networks such as jitter and packet loss. In order to reduce this quality degradation, we propose a lower bit rate audio delivery scheme using the MPEG-2 AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) audio codec in a viewpoint that a packet loss rate could be reduced by a smaller packet size. In addition, iLBC (Internet Low-Bitrate Codec) and the G.711 packet loss concealment algorithm defined by IEFT and ITU-T, respectively, are applied to a audio collaboration system. RAT (Robust-Audio Tool)[7] is used as a baseline platform for the implementation of the proposed methods. It is shown from the implementation that the implemented MPEG-2 AAC audio codec with a bitrate of 256 kbit/s performs as similar as the uncompressed audio quality with a bitrate of 512 kbit/s, and that iLBC and the G.711 packet loss concealment algorithm can improve speech quality when a packet loss rate is 2~10%.

  • This paper describes an experiment of concrete and specific group work learning system based on the traditional Jigsaw group work learning model. Jigsaw model has two groups of students such as random group and expert group so that a course can make progress on explaining and lecturing all members of class after each student can be a member of expert group of course topic. We design and implement Web-based training system to support collaboration and Interaction among students of a course based on Jigsaw model The Web- based learning system makes each group going up to the expert level of a course subject by supporting various study menu and provides equal opportunity of improving social abilities such as leadership, communication skill, trust, and trouble-settling by taking part in collaboration activities.
