This study was investigated to make sure the range of the Colla Corii Asini treatment. the nature of disease and the pathology of it in D ongeuyboga. The following conclusion were reached through invetigations on the prescriptions that use the Colla Corii Asini as a ingredient. 1. The Colla Corii Asini was used a internal disease more than a surgical disease in the dongeuybogam. 2. The Colla Corii Asini was used lung and large intestine disease in abundance and especially anhidrosis. cough and dysentery. 3. The Colla Corii Asini was applied much more disease about blood in the dongeuybogam, but some was used almost bleeding disease. one was used blood deficiency. 4. The processed Colla Corii Asini was used more than the Colla Corii Asini in the dongeuybogam, because of convenience of preparation and ease of intestinla drug absorption. 5. The Colla Corii Asini was used more useful dysentery than tranquilizeing mind in cooperation with Rhizoma Coptidis in the dongeuybogam. 6. Instead of the Colla Corii Asini, we can apply the Colla Comus Cervi or they are mutual reinforcement.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to assume the size of one piece and decocting method of Asini Corii Colla in Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases written at the Eastern han Dynasty. Methods : I assumed the size of one piece and decocting method based on Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases and Prescriptions of the Gold Chamber, Essential Skill to Benefit the People, Classified Emergency Materia Medica, Illustration and Consideration of Plant's Name and Reality, Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold, and other articles about Asini Corii Colla. And I compared these results with current merchandize in China, Dong-e E-jiao, China Resuorces DongeEjiao, and Furen Medicine Group Co., LTD. Results : Asini Corii Colla was made of the skin of cattle in Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases written at the Eastern han Dynasty. The weight of one Asini Corii Colla is equal to 6.5 g, which is equal to one rayng of Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases. The size of it is 3.5 cm in width, 9.0 cm in length and 0.17 cm in height. The specific gravity of it was 1.24. The general daily dose was two rayng and also melted in solution. Conclusions : It was easy to measure daily dose two rayng due to weight of one Asini Corii Colla, one rayng is equal to 6.5 g, and also to melt in solution becauase of its rectangular shape and 0.17 cm thickness.

Background: Hematopoiesis is the production of blood cells from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) that reside in the bone marrow. Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is a chemotherapy drug that suppresses the immune system. Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) and Colla corii asini (CCA) have been traditionally used for boosting the immune system. Methods: HSCs in the bone marrow, and immune cell subtype in splenocytes, PBMCs, and thymocytes were investigated. Serum levels of hematopoietic-related markers were analyzed using ELISA. Protein expression in spleen tissue was analyzed using western blot analysis. Hematoxylin & eosin staining in the femurs of mice were also conducted. Results: The combination of KRG and CCA with a ratio of 3:2 increased HSCs, CD3 and CD8⁺ T cells in the circulation, and CD3 T cells in the spleen. A ratio of 2:3 (KRG:CCA) increased the thymic regulatory T cells and recovered the CD3 T cells in the spleen and circulation while recovering proteins in the JAK-STAT pathway in the spleen. Overall, blood cell population and differentiating factors vital for cell differentiation were also significantly recovered by all combinations especially in ratios of 3:2 and 2:3. Conclusion: A ratio of 3:2 (KRG:CCA) is the most ideal combination as it recovered the HSC population in the bone marrow of mice.

In this dissertation, I will focus on the channel entry, the effect, and the treatment throughout books of oriental medicine from ancient to modern in order to classify the medicines of the liver as main or supplementary organ. The results are as follows: 1. The kinds of the medicines of working of the liver(本臟) were 29, which were Amydae carapax(鱉甲), Chrysanthemi Flos(菊花), Cassiae Torae Semen(草決明), Plantaginis Semen(車前子), Scirpi Seu Sparganii(三稜), Ulmi Pasta Semen(蕪荑), Cinnamomi Cortex(肉桂), Fraxini Cortex(秦皮), Chaenomelis Fructus(木果), Corii Asini Colla(阿膠), Chuanxiong Rhizoma(川芎), Adenophorae Radix(沙蔘), Coicis Semen(薏苡仁), Acanthopanacis Cortex(五加皮), Zizyphi Spinosae Semen(酸棗仁), Picrorrhizae Rhizoma(胡黃連), Gentianae Radix(草龍膽), Citri Reticulatae Virdie Pericarpium(靑皮), Paeoniae Alba Radix(白芍藥), Paeoniae Rubra Radix(赤芍藥), Bupleuri Radix(柴胡), Peucedani Radix(前胡), Naturalis Indigo(靑黛), Citrus unshiu(橘葉), Rhinocerotis Cornu(犀角), Aucklandiae Radix(木香), Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma, Farfarae Flos(款冬花), Evodiae Fructus(吳茱萸), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium(陳皮) . 2. The kinds of the medicines of working of other viscera(他臟) were 7, which were Astragaliadix(黃耆), Ginseng Radix(人蔘), pinelliae Rhizoma(半夏), Myristicae Semen, Euryales Semen, Arecae Semen, Piperis Longi Fructus. 3. Medicines, effected on the heart functioned through any other viscera are as follows: Arecae Semen works to treat Spleen Gi Entering the Liver(脾氣入肝), Piperis Longi Fructus, pinelliae Rhizoma(半夏), Euryales Semen and Myristicae Semen operate to treat Spleen Cold Entering the Liver(脾冷入肝), Astragali Radix(黃耆) and Ginseng Radix(人蔘) work to treat Spleen Vacuity Entering the Liver(脾虛入肝). In the study of concerning the medicines effected on the liver, It is considered that it dedicated to development of the medicines related to the disease of the liver and making efficient use of the medicines.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to proofread 'one ryang' in the Decoction of ${\ll}$Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases${\gg}$. Methods : I found out the ratio of maximum dose and minimum dose in this book. On the basis of the ratio, I corrected 'one ryang' in diverse decoctions. Results : In any decoction, maximum dose of medicinal medica in one decoction could not exceed four times minimum dose. Specifically, in the case that maximum dose in one decoction is sixteen ryang, it could not exceed eight times minimum dose in the same decoction. Any medicinal medica used in two decoctions or more, its maximum dose could not exceed four times minimum dose in other decoctions. On the basis of these results, it should be changed into three ryangs that are one ryang dose of 'Haematitum' of Seonbokdaeja Tang, 'Ginger' of Bujageongang Tang, Baektong Tang, Baektonggajeodamjep Tang and Senggangsasim Tang. Furthermore it should be changed into two ryangs that are one ryang dose of 'Coptidis Rhizoma' of Sohamhyung Tang, 'Ginger' of Dowha Tang, 'Ginseng Radix' of Whubaksenggangbanhagamchoinsam Tang, 'Polyporus, Poria Sclerotium, Alismatis Rhizoma, Talcum and Asini Corii Colla' of Jeoryeong Tang, 'Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba and Anemarrhenae Rhizoma' of Mahuangshengma Tang and 'Cassiae Cortex Interior' of Gyejigamchoryonggolmoryeo Tang. Conclusions : These results suggest that one ryang of thirteen medicinal medica such as Haematitum or Ginger of eleven decoctions such as Seonbokdaeja Tang or Bujageongang Tang should be changed into two or three ryangs.

Objectives : The objectives of this study lie in theoretical establishment of Bopyeo-tang for treating asthenic syndrome of the lung through analyzing the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang, and furthermore, maximizing the clinical effectiveness of Bopyeo-tang. Methods : This study analyzed the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang based on the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines from the ${\ulcorner}$Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine${\lrcorner}$, the theory for principal herbal medicine, assistant herbal medicine, adjuvant herbal medicine, dispatcher herbal medicine, and the five elements doctrine. Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang is an unusual prescription, composed of 7 kinds of ingredients. Results : There are three methods for curing asthenic syndrome of the lung according to the five elements doctrine: invigorating the lung, invigorating the spleen and purging the heart. There are two available methods to invigorate the lung, taste and property invigoration, according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. They each imply the sour taste and the cool property invigorate the lung. In the case of taste invigoration, two herbal medicines with sour taste, Sarcucarpium Corni and Fructus Schisandrae, are combined into the principal and assistant herbal medicine, respectively. For property invigoration, two herbal medicines with the cool property, Colla Corii Asini and Radix Ophiopogonis, are combined into adjuvant herbal medicines. There are likewise two methods to invigorate the spleen, including taste and property invigoration according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. They each mean the sweet taste and the warm property invigorate the spleen. Therefore, it is important to use sweet herbal medicines for taste invigoration and warm ones for property invigoration. Both sweet and warm herbal medicines, Radix Ginseng and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, are combined into adjuvant herbal medicines. Lastly, there are two methods to purge the heart, which include taste and property purgation according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. Taste purgation means to purge the heart with sweet taste and property purgation to purge the heart with cold property. Therefore, it is important to use sweet herbal medicines for taste purgation and cold ones for property purgation. Both sweet and cold herbal medicines, Colla Corii Asini and Radix Ophiopogonis, were combined to purge the heart and invigorate the lung. In addition, Radix Glycyrrhizae Praeparata is added as a dispatcher herbal medicine, harmonizing all the other herbal medicines comprising the formula. Conclusions : First, to treat asthenic syndrome of the lung, the methods of invigorating the lung and the spleen and purging the heart should be used according to the five elements doctrine. Secondly, herbal medicines appropriate for those treatment methods should be chosen according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicine and thirdly, the combination of those herbal medicines should be carried out according to the theory for principal herbal medicine, assistant herbal medicine, adjuvant herbal medicine, and dispatcher herbal medicine. As a good example, Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang is combined according to the above theories. In conclusion, this formula was created by applying the theory of properties and tastes of herbal medicines.
