  • Cold hypersensitivity is excessive sensitivity of each body part, particularly limbs and low backs, but sometimes it affects upper abdomen region in G-I trouble patients. We conducted this research on 69 patients who came and took the both exam of gastroscopy and D.I.T.I. in Kangnam korean hospital Kyung Hee university. So, we researched the significance of temperature deviations on upper abdomen which was studied separately by gastritis group, digestive function group and H. pylori group. The result was : 1. The temperature deviation of Zhongwan(Ren12)-Danzhong(Ren17) of gastritis group was significant, it means that patients with severe gastritis have more significant cold hypersensitivity in upper abdomen than the patients who has not gastritis(p<0.005). 2. The temperature deviation of Zhongwan(Ren12)-Danzhong(Ren17) of indigestive patients in digestive function group was significant(p<0.05) 3. The temperature deviation of Zhongwan(Ren12)-Danzhong(Ren17) of H.pylori positive patients in H.pylori group was not significant. 4. The clinical relationship or tendency was not found both between H.pylori group and gastritis group and between H.pylori group and digestive function group.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to research the demographical and gynecologic characteristics, quality of life, and analyze the pattern identification in female patients with cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet. Methods: 112 participants were recruited from May 2018 to April 2019 from three korean medical hospitals. The data was composed of general characteristics, degree of coldness of hands and feet, gynecological questionnaire, score of WHOQOL-BREF and pattern identification. We divided data into 2 groups: The group of patients who meet the criteria for diagnosis of coldness on feet and the group of patients who meet the criteria for diagnosis of coldness on feet and hands. We tried to compare data by groups using Excel 2016 for windows and SPSS for windows (Ver. 23.0). Results: Throughout the study, we found differences between 2 groups in weight, body mass index (BMI), VAS score of cold hypersensitivity on feet, temperature of PC8, ST32, and pattern identification. Conclusions: After the study, we confirmed that even though both groups suffer from cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet, they show clinical differences in each group and differences in pattern identification.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find the factors that can affect the assessment on severity of cold hypersensitivity on hands and feet by comparing the temperature distribution among the seasons, the scan time and the laboratory temperature. Methods: We compared the temperature distribution of the arms and legs, according to the season and scan time on the basis of the results of Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(DITI) conducted on 178 women who visited the hospital in summer and winter. We evaluated the correlation between the laboratory temperature and temperature distribution of the arms and legs. Results: The temperature distribution of the arms and legs was significantly different between summer and winter. The temperature distribution of the arms and legs was not significantly different according to the scan time. There was no significant correlation between laboratory temperature and the temperature distribution of the arms and legs in summer and winter. Conclusions: The diagnostic criteria to assess the severity of cold hypersensitivity on hands and feet need to be changed according to the season. The scan time and the small variation($24^{\circ}C{\sim}27^{\circ}C$) of the laboratory temperature doesn't affect the assessment of severity of cold hypersensitivity.

  • This study aims to compare nail-fold capillary blood velocity (CBV) according to the presence or absence of cold hypersensitivity in the hands (CHH) using nail-fold capillaroscopy under cold stress conditions. Eleven participants were taken from the cohort study for observing long-term health status of the faculty of Semyung university. Seven of the participants displayed CHH while four showed signs of non-CHH. CBV between 0 and 60 seconds (S1) and between 240 and 300 seconds (S2) was measured under cold stress for 5 minutes, respectively, and the average value was used to compare non-CHH group and CHH group. Body mass index, Nogung (PC8) temperature and temperature difference between Nogung (PC8) and Hyeopbaek (LU4) were significantly lower in CHH group compared to non-CHH group. The S2-S1 CBV difference was negatively correlated with PC8 temperature and PC8-LU4 temperature, and positively correlated with cold pattern score and cold hypersensitivity visual analog scale. The CHH group had a lower CBV overall than non-CHH group, and the S2-S1 CBV difference was significantly higher in the CHH group than in non-CHH group. This study suggests that CBV measured by nail-fold capillarosopy might be a useful indicator of cold hypersensitivity properties.

  • The purpose of this clinical trial was to study the effectiveness of 5% potassium nitrate dentifrice as a daily home treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity. Thirty subjects with dentinal hypersensitivity were included in a 4-week, double-blind, parallel, comparative study. Stimuli used included mechanical, cold water and compressed air blasts. A subjective assessment of the degree of hypersensitivity for each stimulus was recorded. The results indicated that 5% potassium nitrate dentifrice, in comparision with a conventional fluoride dentifrice, reduced dentinal hypersensitivity to a significant degree. The therapeutic response to potassium nitrate was apparent within 2 weeks and increased continuously for the length of the study period. We conclude that 5% potassium nitrate dentifrice is an effective agent for the daily home treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of toothpaste containing hydroxyapatite for patients who complained dental hypersensitivity. Before baseline of application of toothpaste with hydroxyapatite, tooth brushing instruction was done respectively and the several indices were measured at baseline, 2, 4, 8 weeks. Clinical indices were estimated, and responses to cold, compressive air, tactile stimulus were evaluated with verbal rating score. Relief effects and visual analogue scale were also evaluated. The results of this study were as follows 1. The occurrence rate of hypersensitivity in upper jaw was higher than that of lower jaws, and molar area showed more hypersensitivity than premolar and incisor area. Buccal site was hypersensitive followed by interproximal and lingual site. 2. Plaque index, gingival index and probing depth reduction were gradually improved after Tooth Brushing Instruction and using toothpaste. 3. Subjects showed most sensitive response to cold stimuli than compressive air and tactile stimuli. 4. The relief effect was increased during using tooth paste and complete relief was increased especially at 8 weeks. 5. Visual analogue scale was increased. In conclusion, it was confirmed that toothpaste containing microcrystalline hydroxyapatite have the relief effect of tooth hypersensitivity. During 8 weeks, stimulus responses were decreased and hypersensitivity relief effect was increased.
