Densification Behavior of Metal Powder under Cold Compaction (냉간 압축 하에서 금속 분말의 치밀화 거동)

  • Densification behavior of aluminum alloy(A16061) powder was investigated under cold compaction. Experimental data were obtained under triaxial compression with various loading conditions. A special form of the Cap model was proposed from experimental data of A16061 powder under triaxial compression. The proposed yield function and several yield functions in the literature were implemented into a finite element program (ABAQUS) to compare with experimental data for densification behavior of A16061 powder under cold isostatic pressing and die compaction. The agreement between finite element calculations from the proposed yield function and experimental data is very good under cold isostatic pressing and die compaction.

  • Densification behavior of SiC powder was investigated under cold compaction. A special form of the Cap model was proposed from experimental data of SiC powder under triaxial compression. To compare with experimental data of SiC powder under cold compaction, the proposed constitutive model was implemented into a finite element program (ABAQUS). Finite element calculations from the Cam-Clay model and the modified Drucker-Prager model were also compared with experimental data of SiC powder. The agreements between experimental data and finite element results obtained from the proposed constitutive model are reasonably good. In die pressing, finite element results obtained from the Cam-Clay model and the modified Drucker-Prager model, however, show lower average density of SiC powder compacts compared to experimental data.

  • Safety-Shoes are developed for heavy industry. Nowadays with the development of industry, it is increase on all of industry field. Safety-Shoes are to be classified into using intention. And it's developed not only protect from danger but also more comfort wearing. When wear a safety shoes, in cold weather, serious disease could be occur such as frostbitten and so on. In the study replaces steel toe-cap by polymer. Moreover add keeping warm, light weighting, chemical-proof. So we develop plastic Toe-Cap using plastic technology. And result of material property tess considered plastic to be using light work Safety Shoes Toe-Cap.

Estimation of Benzene Emissions from Mobile Sources in Korea (국내 이동오염원에서 발생되는 벤젠 배출량 산정)

  • Benzene is a very harmful and toxic compound known as human carcinogen by all routes of exposure. Owing to the risky feature of benzene, several countries such as Japan, UK and EU have established the ambient air quality standard and protect from that risk of it. Korea also has designated it as one of the criteria air pollutants and established the concentration limit ($5\;{\mu}g/m^3$) in the air and is going to apply the standard from 2010. Benzene is emitted from various sources such as combustion plants, production processes, waste treatment facilities and also automobiles. Mobile source is known as one of the major emission sources of benzene. In this study, we estimated the domestic emissions of benzene from mobile source and compared the results with those of advanced countries. Mobile source was divided into 2 categories, Le., on-road source and non-road source. The total emissions of benzene from mobile source were estimated as 3,106 tons/yr and 1,612 tons/yr was emitted from on-road source and 1,494 tons/yr was from non-road source. Emission ratio of benzene from on-road source showed that 80.0% was from passenger cars, 10.1% was from taxis, 7.2% was from light-duty vehicles, 2.5% was from heavy-duty vehicles and 0.2% was from buses. In the case of non-road source, the distribution showed that 66.3% was from construction machineries, 14.5% was from locomotives, 11.7% was from ships, 7.1% was from agriculture equipments and 0.5% was from aircrafts. The cold-start emissions were estimated as 942 tons/yr and this value was almost 1.5 times greater than that for hot engine emissions (608 tons/yr). In addition, the fuel-based distribution was 65.9%, 31.1% and 2.8% from gasoline, LPG and diesel vehicles, respectively. The emission ratio from mobile source occupied 65% and 30% of total benzene emissions in USA and UK, respectively. In case of Korea, the emission ratio of benzene from mobile source occupied 29% (15% from on-road source, 14% from non-road source) which showed similar value with UK.

  • Stress distribution and interfacial debonding process at the interface between a rubber mold and a powder compact were analyzed during unloading under cold isostatic pressing. The Cap model proposed by Lee and Kim was used for densification behavior of powder based on the parameters involved in the yield function of general Cap model and volumetric strain evolution. Cohesive elements incorporating a bilinear cohesive zone model were also used to simulate interfacial debonding process. The Cap model and the cohesive zone model were implemented into a finite element program (ABAQUS). Densification behavior of powder was investigated under various interface conditions between a rubber mold and a powder compact during loading. The residual tensile stress at the interface was investigated for rubber molds with various elastic moduli under perfect bonding condition. The variations of the elastic energy density of a rubber mold and the maximum principal stress of a powder compact were calculated for several interfacial strengths at the interface during unloading.

Effect of Socheongryong-tang on Punghan and Pungyeol Type Common Cold : A Double Blind, Placebo Controlled Study (풍한형 및 풍열형 감모에 대한 소청룡탕의 효과 - 이중맹검, 위약대조군연구)

  • Socheongryong-tang(SCRT) is widely used to treat the common cold. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of SCRT on Punghan type(風寒型) and Pungyeol type(風熱型) common cold. 98 registered students with commom colds of recent onset were randomized to the double blind, placebo-controlled study. SCRT extract in capsule, $5.4g(1.8g{\times}3cap)$, orally dissolved 3 times a day. The severity of illness was assessed by the physician, using a 5-point scale on start and finish. In Pungyeol type common cold, no statistically significant differences were detected between the SCRT and placebo groups for any of the measured outcomes. In Punghan type common cold, SCRT significantly reduced rhinorrhea (p=0.034) and nasal stuffiness (p=0.048) compared with placebo. This study shows that SCRT is effective in treating cold symptoms in Punghan type common cold. If patients with cold are able to be administered SCRT according to common cold type, the benefit would be expected to increase.

  • Insulation in buildings are one of the crucial factors for energy reduction, and depending on the application areas and properties of the insulation requirements, various different types of insulation materials are being developed, produced, and used. Amongst these is the aircaps often used as packing materials. Because of their porous nature, they are highly efficient in preventing heat and are consequently used overseas often as insulation materials and as part of cold water concrete insulation curing method. This paper studies the recently developed usage of aircaps in waterproofing materials and evaluated their performance as supplementary insulation materials.

  • Bradyrhizobium japonicum is a soil bacterium with a unique ability to infect the roots of leguminous plants and establish a nitrogen-fixing symbiosis, which has been used as a microbial manure. In this study, we examined the stress response after pretreatment of cells with cold temperature. When pre-treated with cold temperature ($4^{\circ}C$) for 16 hr, B. japonicum increased the viability in subsequent stress-conditions such as alcohol, $H_2O_2$, heat, and dehydration. For cold adpatation, cultured B. japonicum was exposed to $4^{\circ}C$. Upon subsequent exposure to various conditions, the number of adapted cells pretreated by cold adaptation was 10-1000 fold higher than that of non-adaptated ones. It appeared de novo protein synthesis occurred during adaptation, because a protein synthesis inhibitor, chloramphenicol abolished the increased stress tolerance. By using a degenerate PCR primer set, a csp homolog was amplified from B. japonicum genome and sequenced. The deduced partial amino acid sequence of the putative Csp (Cold shock protein) shares a significant similarity with known Csp proteins of other bacteria.
