This study is to analyse the relationship between the price and the supply in the farming Olive Flounder's production area market. The data used in this study correspond to daily price and supply quantity covering time period from January 1, 2007 to June 30. 2013. The analysis methods of cointegration and vector error correction model are employed. The empirical results of this study are summarized as follows: First, the price and the supply follow random walks and they are integrated of order 1. Second, the price and the supply are cointegrated. Third, vector error correction model suggests that the relationship between the price change ration and the supply quantity change ratio has negative and feedback effect exists in the long-run, but the disequilibrium between the price and the supply is corrected by the supply quantity. Finally, vector error correction model suggests that the supply quantity leads the price in the short-run. This indicates that the decrease(increase) of the supply quantity results in the increase(decrease) of the price.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for a large proportion of the total number of enterprises in many countries. The development of SMEs has contributed to job creation and economic benefits. Every government has formulated active diversification strategies to promote the export market of SMEs, but the performance of export capabilities remains insufficient. The primary purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of export credit insurance in promoting SME export performance in Canada. Using data from 2008-2017, the augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) model to test the stationarity of the concerned variables and the error correction model (ECM) and autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration test to empirically investigate the cointegration relationship between the research targets. The results represent the positive and critical impact of export relative price and domestic demand pressure on Canada's export performance, and the negative impact of the export volume index at a significant level. Regrettably, the impact of export credit insurance on the export performance of Canadian SMEs is considered exaggerated overall. In view of this result, it is necessary for the Canadian government to enact policies based on the current market status. And enhance confidence among SMEs to begin exports and diversify their markets rather than focusing only on the domestic or US market, especially given the impact of COVID-19. From the case of Canada, Korean government can attempt to learn from them to conduct more efficient strategies for SMEs.
This paper tries to apply the asymmetrical price transmission(APT) behavior observed in the agricultural industry to supply chains of the domestic fishery industry by a statistical manner. The fore mentioned asymmetrical price transmission refers to when price movements in the later stage of the supply chain do not move in a normal or symmetrical manner corresponding to price movements in the earlier stage of the supply chain. Therefore, when the earlier stage price increase and the later stage price increases to a larger degree, it is called positive(+) asymmetry and the opposite behavior is called negative(-) asymmetry. The study examines the data from domestic producers of three fresh fish types, hairtail, mackerel, and cuttlefish, and tries to examine the price asymmetry between the producer or farm, wholesaler, and retail prices via an APT test utilizing unit root, cointegration, and error correction model. The study found, hairtail wholesale and retail pricing bas a negative asymmetric relationship while mackerel has a negative asymmetric pricing relationship at the producer and retail levels of the supply chain. In the case of cuttlefish, all levels of the supply chain showed negative asymmetrical behavior in the supply chain price transmission, meaning the earlier stage price changes are more rapidly and greatly inputted in the later stage of the supply chain pricing. We believe that the reason why the analysis results show negative price asymmetry is due to the uniqueness of fishery products having an important variable such as freshness. If price increases are greater and quicker than price decreases, then consumer demand, which is sensitive to price increases will decrease and subsequently result in the increase of inventory levels, reducing profits for retailers. Also, frozen hairtail, mackerel, and cuttlefish will act as substitute goods to fresh fishery products. Therefore, fresh fishery products have a high demand of price elasticity. When prices increase, demand quickly decreases. Therefore the profit of wholesalers and retailers to decrease, I think this is the main reason of APT in the supply chain of Korea' s fisheries industry.

Since changes in crude oil price exert colossal influence upon most national economy, it is important to investigate about factors that cause the change through an appropriate crude oil price forecast. This paper examines the relationship among crude oil price, OPEC production and U.S. inventory using cointegration and error correction model. We found that crude oil price is likely to increase significantly for a given decrease in not only the OPEC production but also the U.S. inventory. Furthermore, we found that crude oil price is more elastic with respect to OPEC production in the short-run, and more elastic with respect to U.S. inventory in the long-run. Moreover, in the long-run, U.S. inventory have more an effect on crude oil price than OPEC production. Finally, crude oil price adjusts to their respective long-run equilibrium at a moderate speed, about 12% of adjustment taking place in the first year.
This paper examines the long memory property and investigates cointegration in the dynamics of crude oil markets. For these purposes, we apply the joint ARMA-FIAPARCH model with structural break and the vector error correction model (VECM) to three daily crude oil prices: Brent, Dubai and West Texas Intermediate (WTI). In all crude oil markets, the property of long memory exists in their volatility, and the ARMA-FIAPARCH model adequately captures this long memory property. In addition, the results of the cointegration test and VECM estimation indicate a bi-directional relationship between returns and the conditional variance of crude oil prices. This finding implies that the dynamics of returns affect volatility, and vice versa. These findings can be utilized for improving the understanding of the dynamics of crude oil prices and forecasting market risk for buyers and sellers in crude oil markets.
The purpose of this paper is to examine determinants of export to the East Asia region, using panel unit root, panel cointegration framework, panel VECM (vector error correction model), panel FMOLS (fully modified OLS). Different panel unit root tests confirm that the data series are integrated processes with unit roots. When applying cointegration tests to long-run effect for aggregate panel data, a primary concern is to construct the estimators in a way that does not constrain the transitional dynamics to be similar among different countries of the panel. The regression equations are estimated by various panel cointegration estimators. The panel data causality results reveal that exchange rates has unidirectional effects on export and GDP, and there exists bidirectional causality between export and GDP. Also, the results from the panel FMOLS tests overwhelmingly reject the null hypothesis of zero coefficient. The panel cointegrating vectors show that the export has positive relationship with the GDP and ODI (overseas direct investment).

The objective of this research is to examine the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on stock markets in a few developing and developed countries. This study uses daily data from January 2020 to May 2021 and obtained from World Health Organization and Thomson Reuters. The secondary data was evaluated through panel econometric methodology that includes different unit root tests, and to analyze the long-run relationship between variables, panel cointegration techniques were applied. The long-run causality among variables was examined through Panel Vector Error Correction Model. The overall findings of this study suggest a long-run association exists between several cases and death with the stock returns of the GCC and other stock markets. Furthermore, the VECM model also identified a long-run causality running from COVID cases and death towards the stock rerun of both sets of stock markets. However, a subsequent Wald test yielded mixed results, indicating no short-run causality between cases and deaths and stock returns in both groups; however, in the case of GCC, several COVID-19 cases are having a causal impact on stock markets, which is notable in light of the fact that the death rate in GCC is significantly lower than in many developed and developing countries.
This study aimed to analyze the causality of hairtail prices among import and domestic distribution channels using a Vector Error Correction Model(VECM). The results are as follows. First, since the ADF unit-root test suggests that each of the price variables, apart from retail price, has a unit root, the price variables should be 1st-differenced to secure the stability of the prices. Next, through the Johansen co-integration test, it was discovered that there are long-term relationships among the price variables. On the basis of the co-integration test, VECM analysis shows that the producer price has a long-run balance with the import and wholesale prices. In particular, when the prices deviate from the balance, the producer price dynamically adjusts to return to the long-term relationship among prices. It also indicates that the producer price has an impact on the import, wholesale, and retail prices in the short-term, and the import price has an influence on the producer and wholesale prices. In addition, the impulse response analysis demonstrates that the impulse of import and producer prices has a lasting impact on each of the prices.
Purpose - Social welfare is a social insurance system that provides funds and services for all citizens to maximize their life quality. Its ultimate goal is to alleviate social contradictions. Therefore, this paper explores the determinants of social welfare in terms of macroeconomics. Research design, data, and methodology - Based on the vector error correction model, the annual time series from 1990 to 2017 will be used to conduct an empirical analysis. The real GDP, the real income, the inflation and the degree of openness will be treated as independent variables. The input of social welfare will be treated as a dependent variable. These variables will be used to perform the cointegration test and the vector error correction model to explore how the macroeconomic variables affect social welfare both in long run and short run. Result - Via the empirical analysis, it can be summarized that the real GDP, the real income and the degree of openness are the driving determinants to enlarge the social welfare. Conversely, the inflation is the obstructive determinant to reduce the social welfare. Conclusion - The positive and negative determinants of social welfare exist simultaneously, China's government should take macroeconomic regulation and control to balance them to enlarge social welfare.

The paper revisits the author's previous paper to examine short-run and long-run dynamic relationships between macroeconomic variables and stock prices in Korea. The data is updated to the period for which monthly data are available from January 1986 to June 2018 (390 observations) retrieved from the Bank of Korea. The results of Johansen cointegration test indicate that at least one cointegrating equation exists, confirming there is a long-run equilibrium relationship between macroeconomic variables and stock prices in Korea. The results of vector error correction estimates confirm that: 1) the coefficient of the error correction term is significant with a negative sign, which is, a long-run dynamic relationship is observed between macroeconomic variables and stock prices; 2) for short-run dynamics, the nominal exchange rate of the Korean won per the US dollar is positively related to stock prices, while interest rates are negatively related to stock prices in the short-run; 3) the coefficient of global financial crises is insignificant, that is, the changes of stock prices are determined largely by their own dynamics in the model. The results suggest only that the global financial crises neither cause instability in the cointegrating vector, nor affect significant changes in the endogenous variables in the model.
