  • The interest of Korean society and government on future demographic structures is increasing due to rapid aging. Korea's mortality rate is decreasing, but the declined gap is variable. In this study, we compare the Lee-Carter, Lee-Miller, Booth-Maindonald-Smith model and functional data model (FDM) as well as Coherent FDM using non-parametric smoothing technique. We are then examine a reasonable model for projecting on mortality declined rate trend in terms of accuracy of mortality rate by ages and life expectancy. The possibility of using non-parametric techniques for the prediction of mortality in Korea was also examined. Based on the analysis results, FDM and Coherent FDM, which uses the non-parametric technique and reflects the trend of recent data, are excellent. As a result, FDM and Coherent FDM are good fit, and predictability is also excellent assuming no significant future changes.

  • In Korea, as the mortality rate improves in a shorter period of time than in developed countries, it is important to consider the selection of the time series as well as the model selection in the mortality projection. Therefore, this study proposed a method using the multiple regression model in respect to the selection of the time series period. In addition, we investigate the problems that arise when various time series are used based on the Lee-Carter (LC) model, the kinds of LC model along with Lee-Miller (LM) and Booth-Maindonald-Smith (BMS), and the non-parametric model such as functional data model (FDM) and Coherent FDM, and examine differences in the age-specific mortality rate and life expectancy projection. Based on the analysis results, the age-specific mortality rate and predicted life expectancy of men and women are calculated for the year 2030 for each model. We also compare the mortality rate and life expectancy of the next generation provided by Korean Statistical Information Service (KOSIS).

  • According to the OECD (2015) and UN (2017), Korea was classified as an immigration country. The designation as an immigration country means that net migration will remain positive and international migration is likely to affect population growth. KOSTAT (2011) used a model with more than 15 parameters to divide sexes, immigration and emigration based on the Wilson (2010) model, which takes into account population migration factors. Five years later, we assume the average of domestic net migration rate for the last five years and foreign government policy likely quota. However, both of these results were conservative estimates of international migration and provide different results than those used by the OECD and UN to classify an immigration country. In this paper, we proposed a stochastic projection on international migration using nonparametric model (FDM by Hyndman and Ullah (2007) and Coherent FDM by Hyndman et al. (2013)) that uses a functional data model for the international migration data of Korea from 2000-2017, noting the international migration such as immigration, emigration and net migration is non-linear and not linear. According to the result, immigration rate will be 1.098(male), 1.026(female) in 2018 and 1.228(male), 1.152(female) in 2025 per 1000 population, and the emigration rate will be 0.907(male), 0.879(female) in 2018 and 0.987(male), 0.959(female) in 2025 per 1000 population. Thus the net migration is expected to increase to 0.191(male), 0.148(female) in 2018 and 0.241(male), 0.192(female) in 2025 per 1000 population.

  • It has been investigated that the elect of an wideband FDM-FM signal upon an M-ary coherent PSK (MCPSK) signal in an intersystem radio interference environment between analog and digital systems, which had not been discussed before and had been obscure. It is assumed that PSK and FM signal are adjacently allocated in same radio frequency band. And the symbol error performance of MCPSK signal with co-channel and adjacent channel interference from an FDM-FM signal is evaluated with considering the receiver noise. The numerical results for the theoretical symbol error rates of MCPSK system in the presence of Gaussian noise and co-channel or adjacent channel interference are given in graphical forms as the function of carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR), carrier-to-interference ratio (CIR) and normalized carrier separation between the desired PSK and interfering FM signal. The objective of this research is to find some optimal conditions for coexistence of analog and digital systems in an intersystem interference environment. The results we obtained here stress a possible utilization of them for designing the frequency allocation, bandwidth and power of PSK channel in the intersystem interference from an FDM-FM signall.

  • The influence of round length on the tunnel stability and construction cost is well acknowledged by many researchers and engineers but the coherent procedure is not available for its determination. In this study, the behaviour modes of the face and unsupported span was investigated for weak rock tunnel by a small scale model test, PFC3D and FDM analyses in consideration of the round length. Total five types of behaviour modes are defined and quantitative estimation of the behaviour modes was established in terms of the safety factor for the face stability and the conditional chart. Although the proposed method has some restrictions, this method can provide useful information for the optimization of the round length and excavation, especially in design stage.

  • The domestic concrete standard specification(l999) reports roughly about heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis for mass concrete. Engineers cannot but choice after all numerical method such FEM, FDM to escape review. It seems to us that the specification is room for reconsideration because above methods are vary expensive and without popularity. This study suggests thermal distributed function in mass concrete. The function consists of two independent variables, curing time and depth. It's results have been tested a sensitivity for unit cement content, form condition, curing condition, and shape(depth, width). Results of the function are made a comparison with analytical values of MIDAS/CIVIL and a few measurement values. The researchers could meet with coherent and good results for variable cases.

  • The propagation and delay properties in opical fiber are particularly attractive because digital signal processing and conventional analog signal processing techniques such as those using surface acoustic wave devices are limited In their usefulness for signal bandwidth exceeding one or two GHz, although they are very effective at lower frequencies. Since an accurate, low loss and short time delay elements can be obtained by using such an optical fiber, optical signal precessing has attracted much attention for high speed and broad-band signal precessing in particular channel separation filtering for optical FDM signals. In this paper, we consider a coherent optical lattice filter, which uses coherent light sources and consists of directional couplers and optical fiber delay elemnts. The optical fiber fitters are more restricted than the usual digital filters. The reasons are as follows. 1) the coupling coefficients of directional couplers are restricted to the number between 0 and 1. 2) optical signal E(complex amplitude) is divided into J If-$\boxUl$ and J L/7$\div$$\boxUl$ at the directional coupler. Considering these restrictions and in this case all the coupling coefficients of summing and branching elements are set to be equal, we have given design formulae for optical lattice filter, which make the best use of optical signal energy.

  • Directivity control technology of sound system is a key technology for improving sound quality. Providing a line source rather than a point source in an acoustic system can reduce the effects of attenuation interference at long distances, thereby providing high quality sound. In particular, A line-array speaker system can be used to provide coherent, high-quality sound over long distances. However, high frequencies have shorter wavelengths, so the distance between the speakers of a line array system must be shorter, but there are physical limitations. In this paper, we designed a wave guide and installed it in the speaker's compression driver to solve this problem. We measured and tested various acoustic characteristics to verify the performance of the speaker. As a result, when the line array sound system is constructed using the developed speakers, it is possible to provide a line source in all areas including the treble range, thereby achieving the same effect as a single extended source and providing high quality sound up to far distances.
