Purpose: Caffeine is the most widely consumed psychostimulant of the methylxanthine class. Among adolescents, high-dose of caffeine consumption has increased rapidly over the last few decades due to the introduction of energy drinks. However, little is known about the time-dependent effect of high doses of caffeine consumption in adolescents. The present study aims to examine the short- and long-term influence of high-dose caffeine on behavior of adolescence. Methods: The animals were divided into three groups: a "vehicle" group, which was injected with 1 ml of phosphate-buffered saline for 14 days; a "Day 1" group, which was injected with caffeine (30 mg/kg), 2 h before the behavioral tests; and a "Day 14" group, which was infused with caffeine for 14 days. An open-field test, a Y-maze test, and a passive avoidance test were conducted to assess the rats'activity levels, anxiety, and cognitive function. Results: High-dose caffeine had similar effects in short-and long-term treatment groups. It increased the level of locomotor activity and anxiety-like behavior, as evidenced by the increase in the number of movements and incidences of rearing and grooming in the caffeine-treated groups. No significant differences were observed between the groups in the Y-maze test. However, in the passive avoidance test, the escape latency in the caffeine-treated group was decreased significantly, indicating impaired memory acquisition. Conclusion: These results indicate that high-dose caffeine in adolescents may increase locomotor activity and anxiety-like behavior and impair learning and memory, irrespective of the duration of administration. The findings will be valuable for both evidence-based education and clinical practice.

Purpose: Frailty is associated with an increased risk of adverse health outcomes. We aimed to review the relationships between frailty and health outcomes in community-dwelling Korean elderly individuals. Methods: Whittemore and Knafls' framework for conducting integrative reviews was used. PubMed, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and six Korean databases were searched. For analysis, the study included articles written in English and Korean published between January 1960 and June 2018. Of the total 1,488 studies found in the databases, we analyzed 15 studies that met the quality of the evaluation criteria. Results: The prevalence of frailty in Korean elderly individuals ranged from 6.5% to 11.7% when divided into three levels of frailty. The health outcomes assessed in relation to frailty were divided into five domains: quality of life, physical health, psychosocial health, health behavior, and health care quality. Frailty was negatively associated with all five domains. Conclusions: Our study suggested that nurses should be aware of the limitations in the physical and cognitive functions of frail elderly individuals and provide tailored interventions for Korean elderly individuals. Furthermore, a large-scale study is needed to develop the Korean model of the frailty assessment tool and to verify the conceptual model of this study.
Excessive accumulation of the amyloid beta (Aβ) peptide has been implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Paeonia lactiflora (PL) has been used in treatments of several conditions such as inflammation, arthritis, and cognitive impairment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the neuroprotective effect and mechanisms of PL and its active compound, paeoniflorin (PF), on Aβ25-35-induced neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells. We evaluated cell viability, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Furthermore, underlying mechanism of PL and PF on the regulation of amyloidogenic pathway was analyzed by Western blotting. In our results, Aβ25-35-induced neuronal cell loss was observed, whereas treatment with PL (10, 50, and 100 ㎍/mL) and PF (1, 5, and 10 ㎍/mL) significantly elevated the cell viability, and decreased LDH release and ROS production. In addition, exposure of SH-SY5Y cells to Aβ25-35 significantly increased the protein levels of amyloid precursor protein (APP)-C-terminal fragment β, β-site APP-cleaving enzyme, and presenilin-1 and -2. However, treatment with PL and PF inhibited the amyloidogenic pathway via the down-regulation of those protein expressions. Taken together, our results indicate that PL, and its active compound PF, could protect SH-SY5Y cells against Aβ25-35-induced cell neurotoxicity by attenuating LDH release and ROS production, and these effects may be attributed to regulation of amyloidogenic pathway-related protein expression. In conclusion, PL and PF could be a potential to prevent neurodegenerative disorders such as AD.
This study aims to investigate how secondary mathematics teachers understand and intend to use textbooks for their mathematics instruction. For this purpose, we developed a set of survey items in order to unpack what the teachers understand the mathematical tasks suggested in the textbooks in terms of the levels of cognitive demand and how they intended to use the tasks in the textbooks for their teaching. Twenty-five teachers participated in the survey. The data from the survey were analyzed. The findings from the data analysis suggested as follows: a) the teachers seemed to closely follow textbooks without attempting to modify the tasks, even when the teachers consider it is necessary to modify textbook tasks to high-level tasks, b) the teachers seemed to be unstable in regards that they admitted themselves very competent for modifying tasks for developing students' mathematical thinking but, at the same time, they were uncomfortable with transforming tasks into cognitively demanding tasks that promote students' mathematical understanding, and c) the teachers appeared to consider textbooks as significant criteria in conducting tests including midterm and final exam. In conclusion, the teachers seemed to intend to follow closely the contents and sequence of mathematics textbooks in their mathematics classrooms.
The auditory information is used for urgent notification or warning in vehicle because it is not restricted by the direction compared to the visual. However, since the hearing impaired drivers cannot recognize sound signal, various methods of visualizing the auditory information have been attempted to replace it. When visualizing auditory information, only important information should be selected and provided to prevent cognitive overload concentrated on the vision. For this purpose, analysis of the type of auditory information in vehicle should be given in advance. In this study, the types of auditory information in vehicle were analyzed based on the user experience of hearing impaired drivers. Through the observation of the driving behavior of hearing impaired drivers, 33 auditory informations experienced in vehicle were collected. The collected auditory informations were classified into 12 groups through open card sorting by an expert group, and the types of auditory information in vehicle consisting of four levels were presented through a relative comparison of importance between groups. The presented type of auditory information in vehicle can be used as a guideline for selecting important information when the auditory information is converted into visual or tactile. This study is meaningful in that the user experience analysis was conducted by observing actual driving in daily life of hearing impaired drivers.
As digital advertising industry grows, consumers' concerns over personal information protect also rise. Thus, the current study is designed to explore college students' perspectives on digital behavioral advertising and personal information protection through in-depth interviews. According to study results, importance of personal information protection is highly regarded among college students and interviewees suggest individuals, companies, and government organizations work together to protect personal information. College students' behavioral level of personal information protection can be divided into three levels such as 1) no-action taken, 2) passive response, and 3) active response. The study found that college students' attitude toward digital behavioral advertising is positive and also negative at the same time. Lastly, the study suggests that college students have positive attitude toward companies' personal information collection and use for the marketing purpose such as digital behavioral advertising. At the discussion section this study puts emphasis on the need for digital media literacy education and suggests practical implications for personal information collection and its procedures.
This study presence in VR advertising into three types presence. Further, through an experiment, the study empirically verifies the kind of recalled information depending on the flow which forms users' attitudes towards the content. The experiment was conducted with a factor design between 3X2 subjects. Hyundai Motor's Ioniq VR video was conducted, and a questionnaire of 143 subjects was used for the study. The results revealed that positive attitudes were formed towards the advertisement used in the experiment when the level of emotional presence was the highest. In addition, higher flow levels established positive attitudes towards the advertisement. and Cognitive presence's effects on memory, ARM such as product-attribute information was found to increase when the flow level is high; however, GRM such as overall product evaluation was found to increase when the flow level is low.

The study aimed to elucidate how to design a learning environment on the premise of micro-learning (ML) and investigate its impact on website designing skills and achievement motivation among secondary school students. Adopting the experimental approach, data were collected through an achievement test, a product evaluation form, and a test to gauge motivation for achievement. The sample was divided into two experimental groups. Results revealed statistically significant differences at 0.05≥α between the mean scores of the two groups that experienced ML, irrespective of the two modes of presenting the video in the pre-test and post-test, as for the test of websites design skills, product evaluation form, and achievement motivation test. Besides, there have been statistically significant differences at 0.05≥α between the mean scores of the first experimental group that had exposure to ML using the split-video presentation style and the scores of the second experimental group that underwent ML using continuous video presentation style in the post cognitive test of website design and management skills in favor of the group that had segmented-video-presentation ML. Another salient finding is the nonexistence of significant differences at 0.05≥α between the mean scores of the first experimental group that underwent segmented-video-presentation ML and the grades of the second experimental group that received ML with continuous video presentation style in the post-application of the product scorecard of websites designing skills and the motivation test. In light of these salient findings, the study recommended using ML in teaching computer courses at different educational stages in Saudi Arabia, training computer and information technology teachers to harness ML in their teaching and using ML in designing courses at all levels of education.

Purpose : This study aimed to present evidence by analyzing the characteristics and effectiveness of group art therapy interventions through an examination of domestic studies on group art therapy for older people with dementia. Methods : The database used DBpia, Riss, and Google Scholar, and the research period was from 2016 to November 2021. For the selected studies, the level of evidence was analyzed, bias evaluation was performed, and patient, intervention, comparison, and outcome were analyzed. For the evaluation of bias, the risk of bias assessment tool for non-randomized study (RoBANS) and Cochrane's risk of bias (RoB) were used. Results : As for the level of evidence of the included studies, level I consisted of five studies, and levels II and III each had one article. As a result of the bias evaluation of five studies through RoB, a "low risk of bias" was found for incomplete result data, selective result reporting, and others, except for four unclear evaluation areas. The "low risk of bias" ratio was 0~25 % in the evaluation of bias in two studies through RoBANS. For the evaluation tool, cognitive evaluation tool was used the most while mini-mental state examination-Korea was used the most frequently. For the intervention method, the most frequently used was group art therapy that employed recall in three studies, while collage, Korean painting, use of paper media, and procedural memory were used in each of the other studies. Each intervention was found to be significantly effective overall. Conclusion : This study provided clinical evidence by systematically reporting research on group art therapy for older people with dementia. In the future, it is necessary to check the effect of group art therapy on various areas other than cognition for older people with dementia. Moreover, the study should be conducted with the risk of bias sufficiently taken into consideration.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, of which pathogenesis is caused by a polyglutamine expansion in the amino-terminus of huntingtin gene that resulted in the aggregation of mutant HTT proteins. HD is characterized by progressive motor dysfunction, cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric disturbances. Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6), a microtubule-associated deacetylase, has been shown to induce transport- and release-defect phenotypes in HD models, whilst treatment with HDAC6 inhibitors ameliorates the phenotypic effects of HD by increasing the levels of α-tubulin acetylation, as well as decreasing the accumulation of mutant huntingtin (mHTT) aggregates, suggesting HDAC6 inhibitor as a HD therapeutics. In this study, we employed in vitro neural stem cell (NSC) model and in vivo YAC128 transgenic (TG) mouse model of HD to test the effect of a novel HDAC6 selective inhibitor, CKD-504, developed by Chong Kun Dang (CKD Pharmaceutical Corp., Korea). We found that treatment of CKD-504 increased tubulin acetylation, microtubule stabilization, axonal transport, and the decrease of mutant huntingtin protein in vitro. From in vivo study, we observed CKD-504 improved the pathology of Huntington's disease: alleviated behavioral deficits, increased axonal transport and number of neurons, restored synaptic function in corticostriatal (CS) circuit, reduced mHTT accumulation, inflammation and tau hyperphosphorylation in YAC128 TG mouse model. These novel results highlight CKD-504 as a potential therapeutic strategy in HD.
