  • A method is described for the spectrophotometric determination of platinum (IV) with 2-oximino-1-indanone based on solvent extraction of Pt:2-oximino-1-indanone complex. The 2-oximino-1-indanone reacted with Pt(IV) to form a dark-orange complex which shows a characterisic maximum absorption at 342nm. The optimum PH for the platinum extraction lies between 5.4~8.0. Beer's law obeys up to 0.98-16.3ppm of platinum (IV) and the molar absorption coefficient is $1.06{\times}10^{-4}L.mol^{-1}.cm^{-1}$. The relative standard deviation of the method was $\times2.1%$. The composition of the complex is estimated to be Pt : In= 1 : 1, by the mole ratio method and ion exchange resin experiment. The optimum condition for the determination of platinum has been studied in detail. The 2-oximin-1-indanone is found to be a selectivereagent for the determination of platinum, since the synthesixed 2-oximino-1-indanone did not react with other metals such as cobalt, cadmium, copper, manganese nickel, iron, lead and zinc, to form the complex. In this studies, we have also clarified Sindhwani and Singh's spectrophotometric determination data of various metals with acenaphthenequinone monooxime (Talanta 20,248, 1973), whose results were not correct.

  • We determined the transfer coefficient through the analysis of three dimensional temperature distribution in comparison with the measured temperature on the piston in the turbocharged diesel engine. And we analyzed the thermal stress and the thermal deformation with that heat transfer coefficient by using finite element method. According to this results, we found that maximum tempetature range of the piston appeared at the upper part of the piston crown and that the heat transfer coefficient of the upper part of the piston is smaller than that of the lower one. It showed that the maximum thermal deformation is shown at the edge of the upper part of piston and that the maximum thermal stress was shown on the lower part of the piston crown. Finally, we defined the method of determination of a piston heat transfer analysis by using measured temperature on the piston and analyzed temperature with finite element method.

  • Graphene is known to possess excellent thermal properties, including high thermal conductivity, that make it a prime candidate material for heat management in ultra large scale integrated circuits. For device applications, the key parameters are the thermal expansion coefficient and the thermal conductivity. There has been no reliable experimental determination on the thermal expansion coefficient of graphene whereas the estimates of the thermal conductivity vary widely. In this work, we estimate the thermal expansion coefficient of graphene on silicon dioxide by measuring the temperature dependence of the Raman spectrum. The shift of the Raman peaks due to heating or cooling results from both the intrinsic temperature dependence of the Raman spectrum of graphene and the strain on the graphene film due to the thermal expansion mismatch with silicon dioxide. By carefully comparing the experimental data against theoretical calculations, it is possible to determine the thermal expansion coefficient. The thermal conductivity is measured by estimating the thermal profile of a graphene film suspended over a circular hole of the substrate.

  • The angle of attack is highly sensitive to pitch point in the airfoil shape and the decline of pitch point value induces smaller angle of attack, which implies that airfoil profile possessing closer pitch point to the airfoil tip reacts more sensitively to upcoming wind. The method of conformal transformation functions is employed for airfoil profiles and airfoil surfaces are expressed with a trigonometric series form. Attack angle and ideal lift coefficient distributions are investigated for various airfoil profiles in wind turbine blade regarding conformal transformation and pitch point. The conformed angle function representing the surface angle of airfoil shape generates various attack angle distributions depending on the choice of surface angle function. Moreover, ideal attack angle and ideal lift coefficient are susceptible to the choice of airfoil profiles and uniform loading area. High ideal attack angle signifies high pliability to upcoming wind, and high ideal lift coefficient involves high possibility to generate larger electric energy. According to results obtained pitch point, airfoil shape, uniform loading area, and the conformed airfoil surface angle function are crucial factors in the determination of angle of attack.

  • An integrated adhesive wear model was proposed to determine the transient wear and steady-state wear of aluminium alloy matrix composites. The transient wear volume was described by an exponential equation, while the steady-state wear was governed by a revised Archard equation, in which both the transient wear volume and transient sliding distance were excluded. A mathematical method was developed to determine both the transient distance and the net steady-state wear coefficient. Experimental wear tests were carried out on three types of commercial A6061 aluminum alloy matrix composites reinforced with 10%, 15% and 20% alumina particles. More accurate wear coefficient values were obtained with the proposed model. The average standard wear coefficient, as determined by the original Archard equation, was found to be about 51% higher.

  • In this paper, the Fourier Transform is employed to solve the coupled differential equations of modal power and three equations of the mode coupling coeficient are dierived using the phasor form trial soluation. The theory of the mode coupling coefficient contains a few theories proposed by earlier authers. Also it is seen that in case the optical source is modulated by a sinusoidal function, this theory is applied as well. In experiment, the mode coupling coefficient is determinded for a multimode graded-index fiber by using the optical source, which modulated by a sinusoidal function.

  • The cutting force in a cutting simulation is determined by the cutting conditions, such as cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut. The cutting force changes, depending on the material and cutting conditions, and is affected by the heat generated during cutting. The physical properties for predicting the cutting force use constitutive equations as functions of the hardening term, rate-hardening term, and thermal-softening term. To accurately predict the thermal properties, it is necessary to accurately predict the thermal-softening coefficient. In this study, the thermal-softening coefficient was determined, and the cutting force was predicted, using the response-surface method with the cutting conditions and the thermal-softening coefficient as factors.

  • Actual evapotranspiration (AET) in the Suyeong-gu was estimated and correlations between AET and meteorological factors were analyzed. The study area was Suyeong-gu lay at the east longitude $129^{\circ}$ 05' 40" ~ 129$^{\circ}$ 08' 08" and north latitude $35^{\circ}$ 07' 59" ~ $35^{\circ}$ 11' 01". The Kumryun mountain, the Bae mountain, the Suyeong river and the Suyeong bay are located on west, north, northeaster and south side in the study area, respectively. AET was estimated using precipitation (P), potential evapotranspiration (PET) and plant-available water coefficient. Meteorological factors to estimate PET were air temperature, dewpoint temperature, atmospheric pressure, duration of sunshine and mean wind speed (MWS). PET and AET were estimated by a method of Allen et al. (1998) and Zhang et al. (2001), respectively. PET was the highest value (564.45 mm/yr) in 2002 year, while it was the lowest value (449.95 mm/yr) in 2003 year. AET was estimated highest value (554.14 mm/yr) in 2002 year and lowest value (427.91 mm/yr) in 2003 year. Variations of PET and AET were similar. The linear regression function of AET as PET using monthly data was AET=0.87$\times$PET+3.52 and coefficient of determination was high, 0.75. In order to analyze relationship between the evapotranspiration and meteorological factors, correlation analysis using monthly data were accomplished. Correlation coefficient of AET-PET was 0.96 high, but they of AET-P and PET-P were very low. Correlation coefficients of AET-MWS and PET-MWS were 0.67 and 0.73, respectively. Thus, correlation between evapotranspiration and MWS was the highest among meteorological factors in Suyong-gu. This means that meteorological factor to powerfully effect for the variation of evapotranspiration was MWS. The linear regression function of AET as MWS was AET=84.73$\times$MWS+223.05 and coefficient of determination was 0.54. The linear regression function of PET as MWS was PET=83.83$\times$MWS+203.62 and coefficient of determination was 0.45.

  • Abstract The characteristics of bed rock in the study area was classified by means of the crack coefficient estimated from the seismic velocities of in-situ and intact rocks. Various statistical methods were investigated in order to minimize the possible errors in estimating the predictive equation of blasting vibration and to enhance the determination coefficient $R^2$, for more reliable estimation. The determination coefficient showed the highest in the analysis for those groups using weighting function with the number of samples. The analysis for the weighting function employed with standard coefficient and variance also enhanced the determination coefficients significantly compared to the others, but the reliability was slightly lower than results obtained former method. Therefore the most reliable predictive equation of blasting vibration was found to be obtained from a regression analysis of the mean vibration level using the weighting of same distance groups within 15m with the same explosive charge weight per delay. The coefficients, K and n 317.4 and -1.66, respectively, when using the square root scaling, and 209.9 and -1.66, respectively, when using the cube root scaling. The analysis also showed that the square root scaling may be used in the distance less than 31m form the blast source, and the cube root scaling in the distance more than 31m for safe design.

  • A new method for the determination of josamycin has been developed based on quenching of the fluorescence of 3-mercaptopropionic acid-capped CdTe quantum dots (MPA-CdTe QDs) by josamycin in ethanol. Reaction time, interfering substances on the fluorescence quenching, and mechanism of the interaction of CdTe QDs with josamycin were investigated. Under optimum conditions, the relative fluorescence intensity was linearly proportional to the concentration of josamycin between 12.0 and 120.0 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ with a correlation coefficient of 0.9956 and a detection limit of 2.5 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$. The proposed method was successfully applied to commercial tablets, and the results were satisfactory, i.e. consistent with those of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
