  • Cerebellar Model Arithmetic Controller(CMAC) has been introduced as an adaptive control function generator. CMAC computes control functions referring to a distributed memory table storing functional values rather than by solving equations analytically or numerically. CMAC has a unique mapping structure as a coarse coding and supervisory delta-rule learning property. In this paper, learning aspects and a convergence of the CMAC were investigated. The efficient training algorithms were developed to overcome the limitations caused by the conventional maximum error correction training and to eliminate the accumulated learning error caused by a sequential node training. A nonlinear function generator and a motion generator for a two d. o. f. manipulator were simulated. The efficiency of the various learning algorithms was demonstrated through the cpu time used and the convergence of the rms and maximum errors accumulated during a learning process; A generalization property and a learning effect due to the various gains were simulated. A uniform quantizing method was applied to cope with various ranges of input variables efficiently.

  • Image coding based on a fractal theory of iterated transformations presents highly compressed image. In this paper, we compress image using the partitioning method which devides image adaptively in horizon and vertical axis. This method can encode image more compactly than the quadtree partitioning method. The maximum range size can be selected as $32{\times}32$ blocks and the minimum size can be $4{\times}4$ blocks. And the domain size is twice as many as the range size.

  • In this paper, we design and implement an Application based on android platform, which can control arduino Prime Smart Car using Bluetooth communication. This Application consist of Bluetooth communication module, manual mode module, and line-tracer mode module. In the Bluetooth communication module, it checks the on/off status of Smartphone Bluetooth. If Bluetooth status is off, it activates Bluetooth, selects the corresponding device from Bluetooth device list, and connects with a pair. In order to reduce coding time, we implements Bluetooth communication using inherited class from android Bluetooth package. In the manual mode module, it implements six direction moving button and stop button, which can control arduino Prime Smart Car. In the line-tracer mode module, it implements Prime Smart Car with self-driving function using TCRT5000 sensor. And moving button and stop button is disabled.

  • In this paper, we present a way that can implement the vector control Algorithm of induction motor and PWM signal generation on the condition Matlab/Simulink. The overall system model is designed by Simulink toolbox for vector control in induction motor. and then implement experiment with the DS1103 board of dSPACE. Although we are not coding the system, it is capable of doing simulation and experiment simultaneously. That is why Matlab and dSPACE board compiler can generate the "*.c" and "*.obj" files on the designed system automatically. After considering about hardware structure and driving system in DS1103 board. we verify the availability of proposed method through making a comparison/analysis between simulation and experiment.

  • In a MPC coding using excitation source of voiced and unvoiced, it would be a distortion of speech waveform. This is caused by normalization of synthesis speech waveform of voiced in the process of restoration the multi-pulses of representation section. To solve this problem, this paper present a method of position compensation(PC-MPC) in a multi-pulses each pitch interval in order to reduce distortion of speech waveform. I was confirmed that the method can be synthesized close to the original speech waveform. And I evaluate the MPC and PC-MPC using multi-pulses position compensation method. As a result, $SNR_{seg}$ of PC-MPC was improved 0.4dB for female voice and 0.5dB for male voice respectively. Compared to the MPC, $SNR_{seg}$ of PC-MPC has been improved that I was able to control the distortion of the speech waveform finally. And so, I expect to be able to this method for cellular phone and smart phone using excitation source of low bit rate.

  • This paper presents transmission parameters of DH(Dog-Horse) systems based on IEEE802.16e(WiBro) systems. DH requires higher uplink multimedia data rate, which is different from commercial WiBro systems. This paper designes some transmission parameters satisfying the DH system requirements and demonstrates link performance evaluation based on the parameters. For the transmission parameters, the number dwon/up link OFDM symbols are determined by 6/30, respectively. For reliable transmission of control signals, downlink modulation and coding rate are selected by QPSK, 1/2 coding rate and that of uplink is chosen by 16QAM 1/2 and 3/4 coding rate. Based on these parameters, computer simulations demonstrate the system performance of DH system.

  • In this paper, we investigate the relationship of bitrate and quantization parameter needed for the trans-coding method that makes the H.264 bitstream of a particular bitrate to the other titrate. Also we propose the new method in order to transcode the titrate between H.264 video coded bitstreams. The proposed transcoding method updates the model parameters from previous picture or slice by using the approximated relationship of bitrate and quantization step-size and finds the target quantization step-size, and then generates the target titrate by simple coding processing just after requantization. Therefore, the proposed method does not need the complex bitrate control and converts to the target titrate by simple implementation. From simulation, we can see that the proposed method transcodes exactly to an assigned target bitrate for the four test sequences with different their characteristics.

  • In Video coding, the first frame is encoded in intra mode which generates a larger number of bits. In addition, the first frame is used for the inter mode encoding of the following frames. Thus the intial QP for the first frame of GOP affects the first frame as well as the following frames. Traditionally, the initial QP of a GOP is determined by the initial QP of the previous GOP and the average QP of the inter mode frames. In case of JM, the initial QP of a GOP is adjusted as the initial QP being less than the average QP of inter mode frames by two. However, this method is not suitable for the low bit rate video coding. In this paper, the linear relationship between the optimal QP and the ratio of the PSNR of the first frame and the average PSNR of the inter mode frames is first investigated and the linear model is proposed based on the results of the investigation. The proposed model calculate the optimal initial QP using the encoding results of the previous GOP. It is shown by experimental results that the new algorithm can predict the optimal initial QP more accurately and generate the PSNR performance better than that of the existing JM algorithm.

  • Recently, the energy shortage of sensors and the leakage of private information are considered as serious problems as the number of sensors is increasing due to the technological advance in Internet-of-Things. RF energy harvesting, in which sensors collect energy from external RF signals, and physical layer security become increasingly important to solve these problems. In this paper, we propose a time switching-based network analog coding for improving information security in wireless networks where the relay can harvest energy from source signals. We formulate 2-hop relay networks where an eavesdropper tries to overhear source signals, and find an optimal time switching ratio for maximizing the minimum required secrecy capacity using mathematical analysis. Through simulations under various environments, it is shown that the proposed scheme improves the minimum required secrecy capacity significantly, compared to the conventional scheme.

  • Background: Folylpolyglutamate synthetase (FPGS), an important enzyme in the folate metabolic pathway, plays a central role in intracellular accumulation of folate and antifolate in several mammalian cell types. Loss of FPGS activity results in decreased cellular levels of antifolates and consequently to polyglutamatable antifolates in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Materials and Methods: During May 1997 and December 2003, 134 children diagnosed with ALL were recruited from one hospital in Thailand. We performed a mutation analysis in the coding regions of the FPGS gene and the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within FPGS in a case-control sample of childhood ALL patients. Mutation screening was conducted by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) and subsequently with direct sequencing (n=72). Association analysis between common FPGS variants and ALL risk was done in 98 childhood ALL cases and 95 healthy volunteers recruited as controls. Results: Seven SNPs in the FPGS coding region were identified by mutation analysis, 3 of which (IVS13+55C>T, g.1297T>G, and g.1508C>T) were recognized as novel SNPs. Association analysis revealed 3 of 6 SNPs to confer significant increase in ALL risk these being rs7039798 (p=0.014, OR=2.14), rs1544105 (p=0.010, OR= 2.24), and rs10106 (p=0.026, OR=1.99). Conclusions: These findings suggested that common genetic polymorphisms in the FPGS coding region including rs7039789, rs1544105, and rs10106 are significantly associated with increased ALL risk in Thai children.
