펄스형 DC PACVD 법에의해 미치는 공정인자의 영향 (The Effect of Processing Parameters on the Mechanical Properties of TiN Films by the Pulsed DC PACVD)

  • Hard Tin coating on tool steel substrate were prepared using the pulsed PACVE. An orthogonal experimental design was employed to find the best deposition conditions for TiN coating and to systematically understand the effect of processing parameters. The small size Taguchi matrix called the L16 was used for experiment and ANOVA(ANalysis of VAriance) was followed to study the effect of main parameters on hardness and adhesion TiN coatings. In conclusion, pulse on/off time ratio and pulsing frequency were the major deposition parameters to determine hardness and adhesion of TiN coating in the pulsed DC PACVE process. (200) preferred orientation, columnar growth and dome-shaped surface morphology of the TiN films gave rise to a high hardness and a good adhesion to the substrates.

  • When stamping ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS), the phenomenon of galling, which corresponds to a transfer of material from the sheet to the tool surface, occurs because of the high contact pressure between tool and workpiece. Galling leads to increased friction, unstable interface conditions, scratches on the sheet and the tool surfaces and, eventually, premature tool surface failures. Therefore, a simple and accurate evaluation method for tool scratching is necessary for the selection of tool material and coating, as well as for a better optimization of process conditions such as blank holder force and die radius. In this study, the pin-on-disc (PODT) and pin-on-flat surface (POFST) tests are conducted to quantitatively evaluate scratch-related tool life for stamping of UHSS. The variation of the friction coefficient is used as an indicator of scratch resulted from galling. The U-channel ironing test (UCIT) is performed in order to validate the results of the friction tests. This study shows that the POFST test provides a good quantitative estimation of tool life based on the occurrence of scratch.

  • 최근 절삭공구산업은 자동차, 항공기, IT, 선박, 에너지 등 첨단산업의 증가로 인해 CGI, CFRP, 내열합금 등 난삭재의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 난삭재는 고내열, 고경도, 초경량 같은 특성을 지니며 우수한 기계적 물성을 갖지만 가공의 어려움이 있어 산업에 적용하는데 한계가 있다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 개발된 가공기술 중 하드 코팅은 공구코팅비용 대비 공구의 표면경도와 수명을 효율적으로 향상시킬 수 있다고 알려져 있다. 대표적인 하드코팅으로는 AlN계, TiN계 코팅이 있다. 이러한 코팅의 경우 높은 기계적 물성과 우수한 내마모성으로 인해 절삭공구의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있기 때문에, 많은 연구가 진행되고 있으며 절삭공구산업에서 각광받고 있다. 기존 선행연구 결과에 따르면 질화물 코팅의 우수한 물성은 질화물(Nitride) 생성 및 질화 공정에 의한 코팅층의 고밀도화에 의해 나타난다고 알려져 있다. 그 중에서 AlCrN coating은 우수한 내마모성 및 향상된 고온경도를 갖고 있다. AlCrN based coating에 미량의 원소를 첨가하여 기존 AlCrN coating의 기계적 특성을 더욱 향상 시킨 coating은 일반적인 고성능 코팅 대비 공구수명이 길다고 알려져 있으며, 전반적으로 우수한 특성에 의해 전 세계적으로 습식 및 건식 기계 가공 용도로 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 AlCrN based coating에 미량의 원소를 첨가한 coating의 우수한 기계적 특성의 원인을 규명하기 위해 텅스텐카바이드(WC) 기판 위에 아크 이온 플레이팅 장비를 이용하여 AlCrN based coating을 증착 시킨 sample을 분석하였다. 결정구조 및 상 분석을 위해 X선 회절분석(XRD)을 실시하였으며, 미세 구조를 분석하기 위해 전계방출형 주사전자현미경(FE-SEM), 투과 전자현미경(TEM) 분석을 실시하였다. 또한 코팅층의 화학적 성분 분석을 위해 EDX분석을 실시하였으며 기계적 특성 평가를 위해 나노압입시험(Nano-indentation test)을 진행하였다.

절삭공구의 피복층이 공구마멸에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (Study on Effects of Coatings on Cutting Tool Wear)

  • 마찰학적인 관점에서 피복초경공구의 피복층이 공구마멸에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 공구표면의 피복층을 선택적으로 제거한 후 마멸시험, 급속정지 실험 및 절삭력 측정 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 피복층은 공구와 피삭재 사이의 점착성을 낮추어 점착마멸을 억제시키는 것으로 나타났으며, 마찰저항을 감소시켜 절삭력을 낮추는 것으로 관찰되었다. 또한 경사면상의 피복층이 플랭크 마멸의 성장을 저지하는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 피삭재가 탄소강인 경우 경계마멸까지 고려할 때 다중피복공구가 가장 바람직한 것으로 관찰되었다.

  • A behavior of interface of cold forging tool coated by hard film is analyzed by FEM. The indentation of a hemispherical tool of SUJ2 in JIS coated by electroplated coating of chromium into a cylindrical workpiece of S25C in JIS is performed. The proposed constitutive equations are implemented by the non-linear springs model at the interface. Calculated results show that the maximum interfacial normal displacement is observed at an immediately forward from the lip of the indentation, whereas maximum interfacial tangential displacement is at the immediately backward of the lip of the indentation.

  • The impact of PVD coatings can be summed up in practical terms: this technology historically complements the best designed tool substrates to enhance cutting performance. PVD coatings are now incorporated in 25% of all HSS tools. The functionality is to extend the machining speed range, improve wear resistance at the cutting edge, and reduce friction at chip/tool contact areas to allow easier chip evacuation. These translate to a larger safe zone, as discussed in the failure mode diagram, for better productivity and higher reliability in machining operations of the customer. PVD coatings therefore represent an enabling technology that extends the application range of cutting tools in response to modern industrial needs. PVD coatings prolong the product life cycle of HSS tools and help this "mature" material to hold its territory against the advent of the newer hardmetal and ceramic tool materials. There is a lot of competitive life left particularly in PVD coated HSS endmills, drills, threading/tapping tools. PM HSS technology further increases the possibilities.ibilities.

New Coating Method for Sustained Drug Release: Surface Modification of ePTFE Grafts by inner coating PLGA

  • Expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) grafts have been used as vascular access for many patients suffering from end stage renal disease. However, the vascular graft can cause significant clinical problems such as stenosis or thrombosis. For this reason, many studies have been performed to make drug eluting graft, but initial burst is major problem in almost drug eluting systems. Therefore we used biodegradable polymer to reduce initial burst and make sustained drug delivery. The ePTFE grafts were dipped into a paclitaxel-dissolved solution and then PLGA-dissolved solution was passed through the lumen of ePTFE. We analyzed whether the dose of paclitaxel is enough and the loading amount of PLGA on ePTFE graft increases according to the coating solution's concentration. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of various concentration of PLGA showed that the porous surface of graft was more packed with PLGA by tetrahydrofuran solution dissolved PLGA. In addition, in vitro release profiles of Ptx-PLGA graft demonstrated that early burst was gradually decreased as increasing the concentration of PLGA. These results suggest that PLGA coating of Ptx loaded graft can retard drug release, it is useful tool to control drug release of medical devices.

  • 액체로켓 엔진 연소기에 대한 연소/냉각 성능 통합 해석 및 연소 시험 결과와의 비교를 통하여 내열 세라믹 열차폐 코팅 조건에 따른 냉각 성능 변화 경향을 고찰하였다. 연소기 헤드부 근처에서의 막냉각 적용 여부 및 막냉각 유량에 따른 냉각수 온도 및 열차폐 코팅 표면 온도 변화 경향 또한 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 재생냉각 방식 로켓 엔진 연소기의 냉각 기구 설계 시 고려 사항이 검토되었으며, 향후 지속적인 해석 도구 검증이 수행될 예정이다.

  • Sheet-forming of Mg alloys is conducted at elevated temperatures (250℃) due to the low formability at room temperature. The high-temperature process often gives rise to surface damage on the alloy (i.e. galling.) In the current study, the frictional characteristics of DLC coating slid against an AZ31 Mg alloy at various temperatures were investigated. The coating has been used widely for low-friction processes. Dry-sliding friction and galling characteristics of an AZ31 Mg alloy (disk), which slid against uncoated and a DLC-coated STD-61 steel (pin), were investigated using a reciprocating-sliding tribometer at room temperature and 250℃. To represent the real sliding phenomena during a sheet metal forming process, single-stroke tests were used (10mm stroke length) rather than a reciprocating long sliding-distance test. The DLC coating suppressed adhesion between the alloy and the tool steel at room temperature, and exhibited a low friction coefficient. However, during sliding at 250℃, severe adhesion occurred between the two surfaces, which resulted in a high friction coefficient and galling.

분말 코팅을 위한 원자층 증착법 (Atomic Layer Deposition for Powder Coating)

  • Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is widely used as a tool for the formation of near-atomically flat and uniform thin films in the semiconductor and display industries because of its excellent uniformity. Nowadays, ALD is being extensively used in diverse fields, such as energy and biology. By controlling the reactivity of the surface, either homogeneous or inhomogeneous coating on the shell of nanostructured powder can be accomplished by the ALD process. However, the ALD process on the powder largely depends on the displacement of powder in the reactor. Therefore, the technology for the fluidization of the powder is very important to redistribute its position during the ALD process. Herein, an overview of the three types of ALD reactors to agitate or fluidize the powder to improve the conformality of coating is presented. The principle of fluidization its advantages, examples, and limitations are addressed.
