  • Based on the experimental observation, the mathematical friction model, which is an essential information for analyzing the forming process of sheet metal, is developed considering lubricant viscosity, surface roughness and hardness, punch corner radius, and punch speed. By comparing the punch load found by FEM with a proposed friction model with experimental measurement when the coated and uncoated steel sheets are formed in 2-D geometry in dry and lubricant conditions, the validity and accuracy of the developed friction model are demonstrated.

Effect of Process Parameters on the High Speed Seam Weldability of Tin Coated Steels for the Small Containers

  • High speed seam weldability of tin coated steels was investigated. Welding was performed by the laboratory wire seam welder that was equipped with process monitoring system Test results showed that increase in applied current and pressure reduced the total resistance across the welding electrodes. Lower and upper limits of welding current increased as the sheet thickness increased, while the acceptable welding condition range decreased. However, extremely low electrode pressure produced unstable welding condition range. The results also demonstrated that slower welding speeds widened the optimum welding heat input range.

아연도금강판의 CO₂ 용접특성(3);용접결함의 발생에 미치는 시공조건의 영향 (CO₂ Weldability of Zn Coated Steel Sheet(3);Effect of Process Condition on the Generation of Weld Defects)

  • Formation of the weld defect, such as a blowhole and a pit in lap-jointed fillet arc welds has been a serious problem in arc welding of Zn-coated steel sheet. In this study, the relationship among welding conditions, welding materials and defect formation was investigated in order to minimize these defects in the CO₂ welds. In addition, the arc stability of the commercial welding wires was evaluated for revealing their effects on defect formation. Main conclusions obtained are as follows:1) There was no difference between shear tensile strength of the sound welds and that of the welds with blowholes whose diameters are less than 0.5mm. However, the welds with blowholes whose diameters are equal or larger than 0.5mm and pits exhibited tensile strength 10~20% and 30~40% lower than that of the sound welds respectively.2) The optimum welding condition to effectively prevent or reduce the weld defects formation are as follows:- The welding variables of 220A-23V-100cm/min and 120A-190V-30cm/min were recommended for minimizing the weld defects.- The gap between the two sheets at the lap-joint should be controlled to more than 0.2mm- Solid wire was less susceptible to the formation of the weld defects than the flux-cored wire.- The low welding current condition produced less weld defects than the hihg welding current condition.3) One of the reason why the amount of the defect was reduced at the low welding current was the gas discharging by the active agitation of the molten pool, due to an increasing in the number of the short circuit. 합금화 용융아연도금강판에서 어닐링 온도가 도금층 기계적 특성 및 마찰계수에 미치는 영향 (The influence of annealing temperature on mechanical properties and friction coefficient of coating layer in galvannealed sheet steel)

  • In the modern days, a galvannealed sheet steel (GA) instead of a cold rolled steel sheet has been widely used as an alternative to extend the life of automotive body. Accordingly, the mechanical properties of GA for automobiles were taken into account and studied by comparing with the temperature variation on annealing in this study. To clarify the effect of surface features in the mechanical and frictional properties of GA, the several tests such as nanoindentation, victors hardness and nano scratch test were executed. The developed neural networks apply also to obtain reliable mechanical properties of the thin films. Load-displacement curve was computed by the analysis procedure and compared with experimental results. The frictional characteristics of coating layers in GA were verified though nano scratch test in this study. The friction coefficient of coating layers on the surface was obtained from the nano scratch. The variation of friction coefficient versus velocity and pressure was taken into consideration in this paper.

  • The cold-rolled steel sheet for automobile is liable to corrosion, and will be painting in a variety of ways for the anticorrosive. This paper was coated on cold rolled steel (SPCC and SPFC590) for automobiles using five kinds of organic/inorganic hybrid solution. This was evaluated corrosion resistance and so on by the salt spray. Corrosion area was less according to increasing of curing time in 2 types of steel plate with 5 types of the coating solution. No.1 solution was showed the best corrosion resistance regardless of the kinds of the steel sheet. It is judged that the melamin hardner had the role of bridge between $SiO_2$ polysilicate and urethan resin. Other properties were excellent in all solution.

박판 강재의 고속 심 용접성에 미치는 Sn 도금의 영향 (Effect of Tin Coating on the High Speed Seam Weldability of Thn Gage Sheet Steels)

  • High speed wire seam weldability of tin coated thin gage sheet steels was investigated. Thickness and coating weight ranges of the test materials were 0.21~0.35mm and 1.1/1.1~2.8/11.2g/$m^2$, respectively. Test results indicated that the surface roughness value, Rz decreased as increasing the coating weight. The Rz was thought to be one of the important factors to influence the optimum welding condition range, $\triangle$Q. The $\triangle$Q showed close relationship with welding conditions such as welding pressure and travel speed. Higher welding pressure widened the $\triangle$Q while higher travel speed reduced the $\triangle$Q value. Results also demonstrated that tin coating weight should be optimized based on the weldability or the serviceability after welding. At th HAZ of sheet materials with thinner coating layer, tin depleted zone was produced since molten film of the coating material on the base metal agglomerated by the surface tension, which could result in reducing the corrosion resistance of the HAZ in the service environment.
