Alignment System Development for producing OLED using Fourth-Generation Substrate

  • Doosan Mecatec has developed alignment system for Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) display production using large size substrate. In the present article, The alignment system between the substrate and the mask, which is a core technology for producing the OLED product using the fourth-generation substrate with $730{\times}920mm^2$ or more, will be described by dividing into a substrate loader, a magnet unit, a CCD camera, etc. The substrate loader is optimized through the simulation where the central portion of the substrate droops by about 1.5mm by clamping each of a long side (920mm direction) and a short side (730mm direction) thereof by 6 point and 4 point. A magnet unit using a sheet type of rubber magnet is constituted and a CCD camera model with the specifications capable of minimizing the errors between a clear image and the same image is selected. The system to which an upward evaporation technique of small molecular organic materials will be applied has been developed so that repeatability and position accuracy becomes ${\pm}1{\mu}m$ or less using an UVW type of stage. Also, the vision accuracy of the CCD camera becomes ${\pm}1{\mu}m$ or less and the align process TACT becomes 30sec. or less so that the final alignment accuracy between the substrate and the mask becomes ${\pm}3{\mu}m$ or less. In order to meet an extra-large glass substrate, an evaporation system using an extra-large AMOLED substrate has been developing through a vertical type of an alignment system.

  • The authors report on the fabrication of thin film transistors (TFTs) that use amorphous indium-gallium-zinc oxide (a-IGZO) channel and have the channel length (L) and width (W) patterned by dry etching. To prevent the plasma damage of active channel, a 100-nm-thckness $SiO_{x}$ by PECVD was adopted as an etch-stopper structure. IGZO TFT (W/L=10/50${\mu}m$) fabricated on glass exhibited the high performance mobility of $35.8\;cm^2/Vs$, a subthreshold gate voltage swing of $0.59V/dec$, and $I_{on/off}$ of $4.9{\times}10^6$. In addition, 4.1” transparent QCIF active-matrix organic light-emitting diode display were successfully fabricated, which was driven by a-IGZO TFTs.

  • The main purpose of this study is to design and develop the information display device for power conditioning system of photovoltaic power generation system. The function of this device is to display the information, communicate with PCS controller and store the special information. The developed device is tested to verify the performance and experimental results show the excellent performance. An actual running test is being carried out to verify the reliability of the device including PCS by applying it to 10kW level photovoltaic power generation system established in Ulsan College.

  • Quality of the reflective LCD as a display is strongly influenced by the environment where the display is evaluated. Up to now, several methods for the evaluation of the reflective LCDs have been proposed. We have developed a new method in which the optical characteristics of the reflective LCDs from the spot light and the diffuse light can be obtained at the same time. The results obtained in our experiments by using the new method showed a good agreement with those evaluated at office and outdoor environments.

  • We demonstrate a novel selective patterning process of a semiconducting polymer for channel regions to fabricate an array of organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). This process is applicable for various organic films over large area. A reflective liquid crystal display based on the OTFT array was produced using the selective patterning through a wettability control.

  • The following noble series of statistical copolymers, poly[(2-(3-thienyl)ethanol n-butoxycarbonylmethylurethane)-co-3-hexylthiophene] (PURET-co-P3HT), were synthesized by the chemical dehydrogenation method using anhydrous $FeCl_3$. The structure and electro-optical properties of these copolymers were characterized using $^1H$-NMR, UV-visible spectroscopy, elemental analysis, GPC, DSC, TGA, photoluminescence (PL), and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The statistical copolymers, PURET-co-P3HT (1:0, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3), were soluble in common organic solvents and easily spin coated onto indium-tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates. Hybrid bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cells with an ITO/G-PEDOT/PURET-co-P3HT:PCBM:Ag nanowires/$TiO_x$/Al configuration were fabricated, and the photovoltaic cells using PURET-co-P3HT (1:2) showed the best photovoltaic performance compared with those using PURET-co-P3HT (1:0, 2:1, 1:1, 1:3). The optimal hybrid bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cell exhibits a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 1.58% ($V_{oc}$ = 0.82 V, $J_{sc}$ = 5.58, FF = 0.35) with PURET-co-P3HT (1:2) measured by using an AM 1.5 G irradiation (100 mW/$cm^2$) on an Oriel Xenon solar simulator (Oriel 300 W).

  • The bus electrode is composed of two layers. One is the black matrix(BM) and silver layer is formed on top of black layer. The BM paste is made by mixing $Co_3O_4$ black powder with photosensitive vehicle and rheological additives. In this work we studied the effect of $Co_3O_4$ black powder and glass frit on the rheological property of photosensitive BM paste. We also examined how the size and content of black powder and glass frit affect the transmittance and reflectance of the BM layer after sintering.

  • To fabricate mono layer green sheet (MLGS) of transparent dielectric for PDP front panel, dispersion of transparent dielectric slurry and various properties of green sheets were examined as a function of amount and kinds of organic additives. Sedimentation height and viscosity of slurry were measured to determine proper types and amount of dispersant in non-aqueous system transparent dielectric slurry. Many MLGS having various ratios of the transparent dielectric glass frit, binder and plasticizer were fabricated. Finally we got the transparent dielectric layer of high transparency and free from residual pore might be remained in the gap between the electrodes.

  • Herein, the integration of solution-processed polymer thin-film transistors (TFTs) that were fabricated using selective wettability through ultraviolet (UV) exposure into a reflective liquid crystal display is demonstrated. From the experimental results of energy-dispersive spectroscopy, the composition of carbon and fluorine enhancing the hydrophobicity in the polymer chains was found to play a critical role in the wetting selectivity upon UV exposure. The polymer TFTs fabricated through the wettability-patterning process exhibited long-term stability and reliability. This wetting-selectivity-based patterning technique will be useful for constructing different types of solution-processed electronic and optoelectronic devices.

  • 타일드-디스플레이 시스템은 다수의 디스플레이 디바이스를 그리드 형태로 연결하여 큰 화면과 높은 해상도를 제공해줄 수 있는 시스템이다. 타일드-디스플레이 시스템은 공동 협업 분야에서 다양하게 응용할 수 있는데, 그러한 시스템들은 일반적으로 사용 로그 정보를 기록한다. 이러한 로그 정보는 시스템의 유지 및 관리 보수를 위한 용도 뿐만 아니라, 공동 협업 상에서의 진행상황을 다시 열람할 수 있는 회의록이 된다. 타일드-디스플레이 기록기는 크게 세 단계를 거치게 되는데, 첫 번째는 각 타일에서 기록에 필요한 데이터를 기록 및 전송하는 과정이다. 두 번째는 각 타일에서 전송한 데이터를 조합하여 완성된 하나의 캡쳐 프레임을 만들게 되며, 마지막 단계에서는 조합한 결과물을 인코딩하여 저장하거나 스트리밍과 같은 서비스를 제공하게 된다. 이 과정에서 로그 정보를 저장할 때 화면 캡춰 시간 오차로 인해 전체 로그 영상의 품질이 떨어지게 되는데, 본 논문에서는 각각의 타일 이미지를 병합하여 만들어진 전체 로그의 품질을 측정하는 타임 스탬프 기반의 평가함수를 정의하고, 정의한 평가 함수를 이용하여 로그 품질을 향상 시킬 수 있는 타일 이미지 병합 알고리즘을 제안한다.
