Bifidobacterium has been previously shown to potentiate immune function, which was mediated through the stimulation of cytokine production by macrophage. This study was performed to further characterize the effective component of Bifidobacterium by measuring the level of interleukin (IL)-6 cytokine using the RAW 264.7 murine cell line as a macrophage model. RAW 264.7 cells were cultured for 24 h in the presence of whole cells (WCs), cell walls (CWs), and cell-free extracts (CFEs) from various strains of Bifidobacterium and other lactic acid bacteria at various concentrations. The most effective component was different depending on the strains and the concentrations used. When tested with each cell fraction from Bifidobacterium sp. BGN4, heat treatment of the cell fractions lowered the production of IL-6. Synergistic effect was obtained, especially when CWs and CFEs were combined. Sonicated WCs stimulated IL-6 production more than intact WCs. The in vitro approaches employed here should be useful in further characterization of the effects of Bifidobacterium on gastrointestinal and systemic immunity.

본 연구에서는 EEG 반응을 통하여 향이 인간에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 24-26세의 8명의 남성 피험자를 대상으로 국제 기준 전극법에 따라 19 부위에서 EEG를 기록하여 분석하였다. 실험에 사용한 향은 Rose oil bulgarian, Lemon oil misitano, Jasmin abs, Laverder iol france (KIMEX co. Ltd) 등 4가지의 천연오일을 사용하였다. 향에 대한 선입견을 배제하고 각 피실험자별로 주관적 평가를 통하여 가장 쾌하게 느낀 향이 제시되었을 때의 뇌파와 무향 상태 뇌파에서 $\alpha$/$\beta$ 대역의 power spectrum 비를 구하여 비교하였다. 무향 상태에 비해 각 피실험자별로 가장 쾌하게 느낀 향을 제시했을 때 F3, Fz, F4, T4 부분에서 $\alpha$/$\beta$ 대역의 power spectrum 비의 통계적으로 유의한 증가를 관찰할 수 있었으며 이는 $\alpha$/$\beta$ 대역의 power spectrum 비가 향의 쾌도를 측정하는 하나의 새로운 척도가 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

Phellinus linteus was examined on its immunostimulating activities using an in vitro imunization and plaque forming cell assay. When lymphocytes were exposed to the extract of Phellinus linteus, the number of antibody forming cell was increased. In in vitro plaque forming cell assay, the immunostimulating effect was about 4.8 and 5.0 times of unimmunized control in polyconal and T-independent antibody response, respectively. Especially, Phellinus linteus significantly increased the antigenicity of TNP-LPS used as T-independent antigen. But Phellinus linteus did now show a mitogenic effect on B-lymphcytes. These results suggest that immunostimulating activity of Phillinus lintues might be associated with a functional stimulation of B-lympohocyte involved in humoral immune response.

Irradiation with high doses of gamma rays induced the reduction of mycelial weight and anaylase activity, and increased relative amylase activity in surface cultures. Biphase in growth curves was shown in aeration-agitation cultures but the behavior of the first phase of growth could be eliminated by replacing the amylasehydrolysed starch substrates, so that enzyme production was shortened ca. 40 hours and relative amylase activity was increased about 3 times higher before onset of autolysis. In the effect of gibberellin on amylase production, the positive stimulation was appeared to only surface culturs of the liquid medium and the negative effect to shake-cultures in a mutant. Trials of various continuous culture were resulted not only the approalch to the value of amylase activity in surface cultures of liquid medium, but also higher productivity than in batch cultures. The culture-degeneration was observed in two-stage continuous culture, but did not appear in continuous elevation culture.

Authors have experienced the treatment for the uppermost frequent cases, herpes zoster, frozen shoulder and low back pain among those who visited our pain clinic. 1. Herpes zoster The Patients who received the treatment within 4 weeks of the onset of the disease, not only healed herpes without leaving post herpetic neuralgia but also crust formation was fast. 2. Frozen shoulder Over 90% of the patients who received suprascapular nerve block accompanied with trigger points electric stimulation was very efficient procedure, futhermore, authors felt keenly the necessity each patients co-operation and individual endurance for this treatment. 3. Low back pain An epidural steroid administration to the patients who did not have any organic disturbances was effective treatment. If this non-effective, search other cause of the disease or operation was advisable one.

Stomatal closing by ozone and water stress could reduce further ozone injury by inhibition of ozone influx to the tissue. Direct effect of ozone on stomata can be explained from two aspects which are a stimulation of stomatal closing and an inhibition of stomatal opening. An increase of $Ca^{2+}$ influx into cytoplasm by ozone could stimulate potassium efflux ion channel and inhibits inward potassium ion channels. By this mechanism ozone could induce stomatal closing. On the other hand, ozone could inhibit stomatal opening by affecting the activity of $H^{+}$ dependent ATPase of the membrane in guard cells. This would inhibit proton efflux which precede stomatal opening. It is also possible that ozone could reduce the activity of photosynthesis in guard cells which lead to affect the production of osmotically active sugars and energy. Indirect effect of ozone to stomata is through the effect of $CO_2$ elevation as a result of damage of the photozynthetic machinery. This indirect effect is slower than the direct effect.

Genus Bacillus is a spore-forming bacterium that has unique properties in cell differentiation, allowing the forming of spores in stress conditions and activated in the vegetative cell, with suitable environments occurring during the life cycle acting as a trigger. Their habitat is mainly in soil; thus, many species of Bacillus are associated with plants as well as rhizosphere bacteria and endophytic bacteria. Signal transduction is the principal mechanism of interactions, both within the cell community and with the external environment, which provides the subsequent functions or properties for the cell. The antimicrobial compounds of Bacillus sp. are potentially useful products, which have been used in agriculture for the inhibition of phytopathogens, for the stimulation of plant growth, and in the food industry as probiotics. There are two systems for the synthesis of these substances: nonribosomal synthesis of cyclic lipopeptides (NRPS) and polyketides (PKS). For each group, the structures, properties, and genes of the main products are described. The different compounds described and the way in which they co-exist exhibit the relationship of Bacillus substances to plants, humans, and animals.

In this paper, we tried to analyze the mental states, especially alertness or degree of concentration, by analysis of Visual Evoked Potentials. Given task to the visual stimulation, there was warning signals to enhance the alertness of the subject. With the synchronization to the stimulus, we averaged the EP waves, and estimated the power spectrums to view difference between relatively less alerted state and more alerted state. Although there was no significant difference during the waiting for the stimuli, we could find some difference during task performing.

본 논문은 전기 자극 장치에 관한 것으로서, 운동상황에 맞게 인공지능 기능이 음악을 선별해 주고 음악의 BPM(beats per minute)에 맞게 전기 자극 장치에서의 PWM(pulse width modulation)신호가 동기화 되어 재활 기능과 더불어 헬스 케어와 관련된 추가적인 기능 및 효과를 제공할 수 있는 개선된 전기 자극 장치에 관한 것이다. 언제 어디서나 간편하게 셀프 운동케어와 할 수 있도록 AR기술을 이용한 카메라가 있는 디지털 디바이스를 활용하며, 해당 신체의 운동부위를 지정하게 되면 이에 맞는 운동방법을 AI기술을 이용하여 적용할 수 있다. 수행자가 잘못 운동을 하는 것을 올바르게 개선시키기 위하여 실시간 AI 음성기능과 텍스트 코칭을 통해서 올바르게 운동할 수 있게 제안하며, 이에 대한 과정과 결과를 시각적으로 보여주면, 결과에 대해서는 리포팅을 하여 사용자가 올바르게 운동을 하고 효과적으로 운동을 했는지에 대해서 정량적인 수치의 운동횟수와 운동량에 대해서 표현해준다.
