This paper describes comparative analysis results about the dynamic interaction of interconnected wind power system using the actual-size hardware simulator and the simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC. The hardware simulator, which is composed of 2.0MVA induction motor with drive system and 1.5MW doubly-fed induction generator, was built and tested in Go-Chang Test Site of KEPCO for analyzing the dynamic interaction with the interconnected distribution system. The operation of hardware simulator was verified through comparative analysis between experimental results and simulation results obtained by simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC. The developed hardware simulator and simulation model could be effectively used for analyzing the dynamic interaction, which has various phenomena depending on the wind variation and the network state of interconnected power system.

In this paper, electrical power subsystem(EPS) simulator for KOMPSAT 2 has been analyzed designed and simulated by object oriented design(OOP) method. To design EPS simulator, the EPS modules, which modeled solar array, solar array regulator, deployment device controller, battery, power control unit, and EPS control unit, are modeled. To verify the EPS simulator, the modules has been simulated. By OOP designs, the EPS simulator is very powerful because this method is applicable to design other EPS simulator.
In this paper, the simulator of an on-line monitoring system for the range extender electric vehicle has been developed. The messages from the four control modules, the air pressure and fuel level sensors data, and the on/off switching states of 31 indicator lamps can be received through the control area network (CAN), and displayed on the graphic panel. The simulator was designed using the four DSP boards, variable resistors, and toggle switches instead of the four control modules, sensors, and switching state of indicator lamps on an actual series hybrid electric vehicle (SHEV) bus, respectively. The performance of the monitoring technologies was verified with the simulator at the laboratory, and then it was tested on an actual SHEV bus. The simulator is very useful at the initial development of the monitoring system at the hybrid-type or electrical vehicles.
This paper proposes a lightweight trace-driven Processing-In-Memory (PIM) simulator, TP-Sim. TP-Sim is a General Purpose PIM (GP-PIM) simulator that evaluates various PIM system performance-related metrics. Based on instruction and memory traces extracted from the Intel Pin tool, TP-Sim can replay trace files for multiple models of PIM architectures to compare its performance. To verify the availability of TP-Sim, we estimated three different system configurations on the STREAM benchmark. Compared to the traditional Host CPU-only systems with conventional memory hierarchy, simple GP-PIM architecture achieved better performance; even the Host CPU has the same number of in-order cores. For further study, we also extend TP-Sim as a part of a heterogeneous system simulator that contains CPU, GPGPU, and PIM as its primary and co-processors.
As worldwide concern stands on global warming and greenhouse gases from internal combustion engine, the interests in technologies for a highly efficient powertrain has been increased. Concurrently the investigation to improve the deteriorated NVH, a by-product of energy efficient powertrain, is conducted seriously. The NVH performance of a new type of active engine mount that offers increased advantages over a passive hydraulic mount is examined using a newly developed 6-DOF simulator. The simulator is in the shape of Hexapod Stewart Platform adopting LEMA, a new type of actuator which is patented and commercialized by ACT Inc,, the world wide leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high performance linear electro-magnetic actuators for active vibration control. The target vibration signals of an aimed vehicle at four engine mounts are measured and simulated by 6-DOF simulator at the laboratory. The resulting NVH performances of the new active mounting system at a vehicle and on a simulator are examined and compared. Even though the active mount performance of lab test demonstrates less effective than the result of a real vehicle test, vibration reduction is identified through the simulator.
This paper presents PKES(PuKyung -Excel based Simulator) for WWTPs(wastewater treatment plants) by using MS Excel and VBA(Visual Basic for Application). PKES is a user-friendly simulator for the design and optimization of the whole plant including biological and physico-chemical processes for the wastewater and sludge treatment. PKES calculates the performance under steady or dynamic state and allows changing the mathematical model by the user. Mathematical model implemented in PKES is a improved integration model based on ASM2d and ADM1 for simulation of AS(activated sludge) and AD(anaerobic digestion). Gaseous components of $N_2$, $N_2O$, $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ are added for estimation of GHGs(greenhouse gases) emission. The simulation results for comparison between PKES and Aquasim(EAWAG) showed about the same effluent concentrations. As a result of verification using by measured data of BOD, TSS, TN and TP for 2 years of operation, calculated effluent concentrations were similar to measured effluent concentrations. The values of average RMSE(root mean square error) were 1.9, 0.8, 1.6 and 0.2 mg/L for BOD, TSS, TN and TP, respectively. Total GHGs emission of WWTP calculated by PKES was 138.5 ton-$CO_2$/day and GHGs emissions of $N_2O$, $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ were calculated at 21.7, 28.9 and 87.9 ton-$CO_2$/day, respectively. GHGs emission of activated sludge was 32.5 % and that of anaerobic digestion was 67.5 %.
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies involve three major stages, i.e., capture, transport, and storage. The transportation stage of CCS technologies has received relatively little attention because the requirements for $CO_2$ transport differ based on the industry-related conditions, geological, and demographical characteristics of each country. In this study, we analyzed the properties of $CO_2$ transport using a pipeline. This study has important implications for ensuring the stability of a long-term CCS as well as the large cost savings, as compared to the small cost ratio as a percentage of the entire CCS system. The state of $CO_2$, network topologies, and node distribution are among the major factors that influence $CO_2$ transport via pipelines. For the analysis of the properties of $CO_2$ transport using a pipeline, the $CO_2$ pipeline connections were visualized by the simulator developed by Lee [11] based on the network topologies in $CO_2$ transport. The case of Korean CCS technologies was applied to the simulation.
This paper describes an effort to develop a simulator of Active Power Filter (APF) by three dimentional(3-D) space current co-ordinate. System current is represented by 3-D vector composed of three current components - active, reactive and distorted. %THD (%Total Harmonics Distortion) can be converted to height-angle of system current vector and power factor can be defined on 3-D space current co-ordinate without loss of generality. Current of APF and power system can be analyzed by 3-D visualization of current vector trajectory. So, the computer simulation results show that the proposed method by 3-D space current co-ordinate make up for disadvantages of performance evaluation on time / frequency domain.
