Removal of paraffin wax from a ceramic injection mold using supercritical $CO_2$ has been studied. The paraffin wax is used as a binder in the ceramic injection molding process. The effects of pressure, temperature and flow rate of supercritical $CO_2$ on the removal of the paraffin wax were investigated. The removal rates were measured with various flow rates of $CO_2$ in the range of 328.15 - 348.15 K and 15 - 30 MPa. The removal rate of paraffin wax increased as the pressure increased. In the effect of temperature, the paraffin wax was effectively removed over 329.15K (melting point of paraffin wax), however, the efffct of temperature was not significant when the temperature was further increased. The increase of $CO_2$ flow rate also affected the removal of paraffin wax. However, the effect of flow rate was not observed when the flow rate reached a certain value. Propane was used as a co solvent in order to remove the paraffin wax effectively. When the propane was added to the $CO_2$, the removal efficiency was improved. The paraffin wax was completely removed from the ceramic injection mold without any change in their shape and the structure.
Nylon 6 based magnetic pellets for injection molding were produced using plasma arc melt-spun $Nd_{10.5}Fe_{79}Co_{2}Zr_{1.5}B_{7}$ powders. Two sorts of bonded magnets made of two different sizes of particles ($38~75\;\mu\textrm{m}$ and $75~150\;\mu\textrm{m}$) were prepared to determine critical volume fraction of magnet powders, and the magnetic prop erties of the magnets were discussed as a function of density. For the nylon fi based Nd-Fe-Co-Zr-B pellets made of $38~75\;\mu\textrm{m}$ particles, the critical volume fraction of powders 0.7 was obtained with the pellet density which is 90% of theoretical density while the magnets of $75~150\;\mu\textrm{m}$ showed the density of 87% of the theoretical value with the same volume fraction. The nylon (i magnets with the addition of 0.5 wt. % silicon oil only exhibited the best magnetic properties to have $_{i}H_{c}=8.8\;kOe,\;B_{r}=5.1\;kG$ and $(BH)_{max}=5.2\;MGOe$ which are of world class. An empirical relationship in predicting the magnet density with a known fraction ($V_s$) of loading powders was obtained such as ${\rho}(g/cm^{3})=1.1+K.V_{s}$ where the K ranges over 5.3~5.6 be ing dependent upon the particle size loaded.

Advanced composite-sintered bushings are widely utilized in the areas of excavators and injection molding machines as a journal bearing. Since the bearings are mainly used under high loads, service life should be long and the stored oil of inner bushings has to be continually fed into the bearing. The composite-sintered bushings are consisted of the two different materials; outer steel materials and inner porous sintered materials respectively. High temperature diffusion bonding has been applied for holding the both materials of the bushing together. Therefore, it is very important that the bonding reliability has to be assured and evaluated in manufacturing process. Finite element method (FEM) is performed in order to evaluate the minimum allowable flaw sizes that are possibly generated in the composite-sintered bushings. Additionally, the composite-sintered bushings were undergone ultrasonic C-scan tests to find out the size of inherent flaws through artificially simulated UT signal analysis.

In an attempt to reach a balance of performances in homo-polypropylene based system, the effects of single and hybrid reinforcements inclusions comprising calcium carbonate nanoparticles (2, 4 and 6 phc) and glass fibers (10 wt.%) on the mechanical and thermal properties were investigated. Different samples were prepared by employing twin-screw extruder and injection molding machine. In morphological studies, the uniform distribution of glass fibers in PP matrix, relative adhesion between glass fibers and polymer, and existence of nanoparticles in polymer matrix were observed. $PP/CaCO_3$ (6 phc) as compared to pure PP and PP/GF had superior tensile and flexural strengths, impact resistance and deformation temperature under load (DTUL). $PP/GF/CaCO_3$ (6 phc) composite displayed comparable tensile and flexural strengths and impact resistance to neat PP, while its tensile and flexural moduli and deformation temperature under load (DTUL) were 436%, 99% and $26^{\circ}C$greater respectively. The maximum impact resistance was observed in $PP/CaCO_3$(6 phc). The highest DTUL was perceived in PP hybrid nanocomposite containing 10 wt.% glass fiber and 4 phc $CaCO_3$ nanoparticle.

The first thing in developing injection molding and extrusion with microcellular foaming process is to get a grip on one phase state's rheology of gas and polymer solution. Understanding rheology is essential to design mold or die. and it is so important to control the condition of process. Also, this data is got the utmost out of simulation carrying out. In this paper, we will see the measurement of rheology in one phase that mixed polypropylene which contains talc with carbon dioxide of super critical fluid state, and will compare its result with the simulation result.
The microstructure of $ZrO_2$ toughened $Al_2O_3$ ceramics was carefully controlled so as to obtain dense and fine-grained ceramics, thereby improving the properties and reliability of the ceramics for capillary applications in semiconductor bonding technology. $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2(Y_2O_3)$ composite was produced via Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM) technology, followed by Sinter-HIP process. Room temperature strength, hardness, Young's modulus, thermal expansion coefficient and toughness were determined, as well as surface strengthening induced by the fine grained homogenous microstructure and the thermal treatment. The changes in alumina/zirconia grain size, sintering condition and HIP treatment were found to be correlated.
The effects of residual impurities on solid state sintering of the powder injection molded (PIMed) W-15wt%Cu nanocomposite powder were investigated. The W-Cu nanocomposite powder was produced by the mech-ano-chemical process consisting of high energy ball-milling and hydrogen reduction of W blue powder-cuO mixture. Solid state sintering of the powder compacts was conducted at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2~10 h in hydrogen atmosphere. The den-sification of PIM specimen was slightly larger than that of PM(conventional PM specimen), being due to fast coalescence of aggregate in the PIM. The only difference between PIM and PM specimens was the amount of residual impurities. The carbon as a strong reduction agent effectively reduced residual W oxide in the PIM specimen. The $H_2O$ formed by $H_2$ reduction of oxide disintegrated W-Cu aggregates during removal process, on the contrary to this, micropore volume rapidly decreased due to coalescence of the disintegrated W-Cu aggregates during evolution of CO.It can be concluded that the higher densification was due to the earlier occurred Cu phase spreading that was induced by effective removal of residual oxides by carbon.

Productivity through reduced defects in plastic injection molding and reduced cycle times is a long-standing need in the injection industry. In particular, productivity is very urgent for the domestic injection industry, which is caught between the pursuit of latecomers such as China and technological gap with Germany and Japan which will not be narrowed down. Through 30 years of research and experience in the domestic injection industry, we have found that controlling the surface temperature of injection molds is the key of quality control. There have been various attempts to utilize advanced control techniques such as PID control, but the productivity against leading companies in Germany and Japan is still insufficient. Using Approximation Algorithm - "Knapsack" and "Minimum Makespan Scheduling", We want to show how to efficiently control objects with periodic repetitive data patterns that are difficult to solve with PID control. In addition, We want to propose that the control by Approximation Algorithm is effective enough to improve the productivity of the product by analyzing the data extracted from actual injection site.

The motor applied to electric water pump used in automobiles is the canned type motor structure. The rotor, which is the driving component of the motor, is located in the bulkhead structure of the plastic injection molding, and rotates while immersed in the antifreeze. Plastic Injection Stator is placed on the outside of the bulkhead structure so that the rotor can rotate. The configuration of the rotor consists of magnet, core and shaft. In the case of magnet and core, it is very important to keep the parts sealed because it is a material that is corroded by moisture. When mounted on a vehicle, it must be capable of driving at $120^{\circ}C$ ambient conditions and should not leak under pressure of 1 bar or more. In this paper, we designed and implemented a Leak inspection automation system using helium to check the defects of the electric water pump developed satisfying this condition.
It is well known that the family-mold has an advantage to reduce the cost for production and mold. However, defects are frequently occurred by over packing the smaller volume cavity during molding, especially when the family-mold has a volumetric difference between two cavities. In this study, the cavity-filling imbalance was confirmed by the temperature and the pressure sensors, and a variable-runner system was developed for balancing the cavity-filling. Experiments of balancing the cavity filling was carried out in the family-mold with the variable-runner system, and balancing the cavity-filling was confirmed by changing the cross-sectional area of a runner in the variable-runner system with the temperature and pressure sensors. The influence of the injection speed to the balancing-capability of the variable-runner system was also examined in the experiment.
