A Study on the Manufacture of Optical Filters for PDP Panel in Conductive Types (PDP 패널용 전도막 광학 필터 제조에 관한 연구)

  • The functional dyes, which has various optical characteristics that can be applicable to field of electronic, photo electronic, such as sensor or electrode, were synthesized. Physical property and optical stability was studied with preparation of conductive type film as a kind of optical filter of plasma display panel, by adapting neon cut off dye, which can selectively absorbing between 580 and 610nm wavelength. The filter was prepared with PSA resin, which has functional group of - COOH and - OH, as binder. And the characters such as spectroscopy, heat-proof / wet-proof, thermal stability and commerciality, which must be held by functional dyes, were examined. Conductive type film is the kind of film includes only neon cut off dyes. For the neon cut off dyes, cyanine dyes can be applied. And it is observed that spectrum of before and after the durability test are not changed due to stability of dyes, as the result of coating on the mesh film with PSA binder.

Optical properties of the $O_2$ plasma treatment on BZO (ZnO:B) thin films for TCO of a-Si solar cells

  • In order to achieve a high efficient a-Si solar cell, the TCO (transparent conductive oxide) substrates are required to be a low sheet resistivity, a high transparency, and a textured surface with light trapping effect. Recently, a zinc oxide (ZnO) thin film attracts our attention as new coating material having a good transparent and conductive for TCO of solar cells. In this paper the optical properties of $H_2$ post-treated BZO (boron doped ZnO, ZnO:B) thin film are investigated with $O_2$-plasma treatment. The BZO thin films by MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) are investigated and the samples of $H_2$ post-treated BZO thin film are tested with $O_2$-plasma treatment by plasma treatment system with 13.56 MHz as RIE (Reactive Ion Etching) type. We measured the optical properties and surface morphology of BZO thin film with and without $O_2$-plasma treatment. The optical properties such as transmittance, reflectance and haze are measured with integrating sphere and ellipsometer. This result of the BZO thin film with and without $O_2$-plasma treatment is application to the TCO for solar cells.

Fully Integrated Electromagnetic Noise Suppressors Incorporated with a Magnetic Thin Film on an Oxidized Si Substrate

  • Si-based electromagnetic noise suppressors on coplanar waveguide transmission lines incorporated with a $SiO_2$ dielectric layer and a nanogranular Co-Fe-Al-O magnetic thin film are reported. Unlike glass-based devices, large signal attenuation is observed even in the bare structure without coating the magnetic thin film. Much larger signal attenuation is achieved in fully integrated devices. The transmission scattering parameter ($S_{21}$) is as small as -90 dB at 20 GHz at the following device dimensions; the thicknesses of the $SiO_2$ and Co-Fe-Al-O thin films are 0.1 $\mu$m and 1 $\mu$m, respectively, the length of the transmission line is 15 mm, and the width of the magnetic thin film is 2000 $\mu$m. In all cases, the reflection scattering parameter ($S_{11}$) is below -10 dB over the whole frequency band. Additional distributed capacitance formed by the Cu transmission line/$SiO_2$/Si substrate is responsible for these characteristics. It is considered that the present noise suppressors based on the Si substrate are a first important step to the realization of MMIC noise suppressors.

  • [ $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_nCu_{n+1}O_y(n{\geq}0)$ ] thin film is fabricatedvia two different processes using an ion beam sputtering method i.e. co-deposition and layer-by-layer deposition. A single phase of Bi2212 can be fabricated via the co-deposition process. While it cannot be obtained by the layer-by-layer process. Ultra-low growth rate in our ion beam sputtering system brings out the difference in Bi element adsorption between the two processes and results in only 30% adsorption against total incident Bi amount by layer-by-layer deposition, in contrast to enough Bi adsorption by co-deposition.

A Study on the Amorphization Reaction of the Co-Zr Multilayered Thin Film (Co-Zr 다층 박막의 저온 비정질화에 관한 연구)

  • Co-Zr multilayered thin films were prepared by three-gun magnetron sputtering system and low temperature arrorphization was attempted. According to thin film X-ray and cross-sectional TEM analysis, it has been found that zirconium layer is arrorphized by diffusion of cobalt and the amorphization rate at the upper interface is two or three times faster than that at the lower interface of the zirconium layers. This new phenomenon is explained in terms of atomic mixing during sputtering.

  • 본 연구는 상온 상압하에서 미세구조 패턴을 갖는 대용량의 CaCO3 박막을 제조하고 여러 가지 첨가제를 이용하여 박막 표면의 형상제어를 수행하였다. 또한 형상 제어된 CaCO3 박막을 템플릿으로 이용하여 고분자 및 금속 박막 형상 제어 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 LACS(Large Area CaCO3 Stamping)법을 통해 흡착능과 소수성의 특성과 같은 다양한 기능성을 갖는 박막의 제조가 가능하였다. 기존의 박막제조 기술은 주로 저압조건에서 이루어지기 때문에 대면적화가 어렵고 형상을 제어 하는데 여러 가지 단점이 있었던 반면 LACS는 에너지의 소모가 적고 다양한 형상제어를 통해 기존의 박막제조 기술의 단점을 보완할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Magneto-optical disks with dielectric layers for optical tunning are useful for maximizing the SNR. We have developed a computer program based on characteristic matrix to investigate the best combination of the film thicknesses. We have optimized the thicknesses of the multilayers which were composed of TbFeCo, dielectric, and AI layers at the wavelengh of 830nm. The criterion for the optimization of the film thickness was to maximize the figure of merit with maintaining the low ellipticity and rmre than 10% reflectivity.

  • In this paper, we describe the current status and issues of the oxide thin-film transistors (OTFTs), which attract much attention as an emerging new backplane technology replacing conventional silicon-based TFTs technologies. First, the unique benefits of OTFTs will be presented as a backplane for large-sized AMOLED including note-book PC, second TV and HD-TV. And then, the state-of-the-art transistor performance and uniformity characteristics of OTFTs will be highlighted. The obtained a-IGZO TFTs exhibited the field-effect mobility of $18\;cm^2/Vs$, threshold voltage of 1.8 V, on/off ratio of $10^9$, and subthreshold gate swing of 0.28 V/decade. In addition, the world largest-sized 12.1-inch WXGA active-matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) display is demonstrated using indium-gallium-zinc oxide (IGZO) TFTs.

  • New planar discharge structured AC-PDP has been developed by using TFCS (Thick Film Ceramic Sheet) technology. By applying TFCS to AC-PDP, a sustaining electrode and scanning electrodes are embedded in the TFCS. It is shown that panel performances such as electrical and optical characteristics are superior to commercialized coplanar AC-PDP as well as cost reduction. Moreover the experimental result shows panel performances can be improved drastically by continuous development.

  • A plastic substrate for flexible display is developed. The developed PES film has good resistance to heat, low intrinsic birefringence, and mechanical stability. The gas barrier property in the substrate is improved through depositing organic and inorganic multi layer on plastic film by PVD and CVD process.
