  • Cloud computing technology is expanding its services to individual consumers through storage and applications. This study aims to compare the predisposing factors that affect the perceived value and the intention to use between users who have used or experienced services and those who have never experienced services from the perspective of benefit and sacrifice based on the value-based acceptance model. The results showed that the sacrifice factor (perceived cost) had a significant effect on perceived value and perceived value had a significant effect on intention to use, but showed a difference in perceived benefit. Perceived usefulness, ubiquity, and network effects had significant impact for experienced users' perceived value, but for inexperienced users, ubiquity did not have significant impact. In addition, usefulness was the most significant factor for experienced users while network effect was the same for inexperienced users. The results of this study suggest that consumers' intention to use personal cloud service is evaluated as a benefit and sacrifice point and a new attempt to re-examine the role of previous experience.

  • Recently, the most frequently studied topics related to the fourth industrial revolution (FIR) are Big data, AI, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things- these four components are collectively known as the main components of the FIR (henceforth MCs). The MCs have a wide range of effects on workers' performance. As such it is imperative that these components are properly understood. This understanding will lead to a proper recognition of the attitudes that workers need to adopt to the MCs. Specifically, the attitudes of workers to several variables need to be examined, including importance, intention to use, belief in improvement, efficacy to use, and negative cognition. Each of these variables plays a role in determining how worker's performance in the FIR era will change. The performance-related variables such as self-efficacy, expectations, and acceptance of change are also crucial. These variables are related to creation of new opportunities, and can greatly influence performance in the FIR era. This study explains how specific attitudes to MCs improve performance-related factors for FIR. The adoption of these attitudes will ultimately lead to more successful adaption to the FIR era.

  • Cyberthreats and crimes have become common in society and demand the adoption of robust security measures. Financial cybercrimes, personal information breaches, and spam messages are now prevalent, while companies and nations face an increasing number of cyberthreats and attacks such as distributed denial of service, ransomware, and malware. As the overall socioeconomic landscape undergoes digitalization powered by big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence technologies, the importance of cybersecurity is expected to steadily increase. Developed nations are actively implementing various policies to strengthen cybersecurity and providing government support for research and development activities to bolster their domestic cybersecurity industries. In particular, the South Korean government has designated cybersecurity as one of the 12 nationwide strategic technology sectors. We examine the current landscape of cybersecurity companies and the information and communication technology supply chain, providing insights into the domestic cybersecurity market and suggesting implications for South Korea.

  • Computational science simulations have been used to enable discovery in a broad spectrum of application areas, these simulations show irregular demanding characteristics of computing resources from time to time. The adoption of virtualized high performance cloud, rather than CPU-centric computing platform (such as supercomputers), is gaining interest of interests mainly due to its ease-of-use, multi-tenancy and flexibility. Basically, provisioning a virtual cluster, which consists of a lot of virtual machines, in a real-time has a critical impact on the successful deployment of the virtualized HPC clouds for computational science simulations. However, the cost of concurrently creating many virtual machines in constructing a virtual cluster can be as much as two orders of magnitude worse than expected. One of the main factors in this bottleneck is the time spent to create the virtual images for the virtual machines. In this paper, we propose a novel technique to minimize the creation time of virtual machine images and improve I/O performance of the provisioned virtual clusters. We also confirm that our proposed technique outperforms the conventional ones using various sets of experiments.

  • Construction industry is considered as one of the oldest industries in the world since human came into being and the need of their own space is realized. All this led to make the world a space of many beautiful constructive ventures. As per the requirements of today's world, every industry is recognizing the need for use and adoption of modern as well as innovative technologies due to their benefits and timely production. Now construction industry has also started adopting the use of modern and innovative technologies during their projects but still the rate of adoption is so slow. From design to completion, construction projects take a lot to manage for which technology based solutions have continuously been proposed. These include Computer Aided Design (CAD), building information modeling (BIM) and cloud computing have been proved to be much successful until now. The construction projects are high budgeted, and direly require timely and successful completion with quality, resource and other constraints. So, the researchers observe the need of more clear and technology based communication between the construction projects and its constructors and other stakeholders is required before and during the construction to take timely precautions for expected issues. This study has analyzed the use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology adopting GammaAR, and ARki applications in construction industry. It has been found that both applications are light-weighted, upgradable, provide offline availability and collaborative environment as well as fulfil most of the requirements of the construction industry except the cost. These applications also support different screen size for better visualization and deep understanding. Both applications are analyzed, based on construction's application requirements, usability of AR and ratings of applications user collected from application's platform. The purpose of this research is to provide a detail insight of construction applications which are using AR to facilitate both the future developers and consumers.

  • As the COVID-19 pandemic and the development of IT technology have led to the gradual popularization of remote and telecommuting, cloud computing technology is advancing, and cyber attack techniques are becoming more sophisticated and advanced. In response to these trends, companies are increasingly moving away from traditional perimeter-based security and adopting Zero Trust to strengthen their security. Zero Trust, based on the core principle of doubting and not trusting everything, identifies all traffic and grants access permissions through a strict authentication process to enhance security. In this paper, we analyze the background of Zero Trust adoption and the adoption policies and trends of countries that are proactively promoting its implementation. Additionally, we propose necessary efforts from governments and organizations to strengthen corporate security and considerations for companies when applying Zero Trust.

  • With the recent widespread adoption of general-purpose GPUs (GPGPUs) in cloud systems, maximizing the resource utilization through multitasking in GPGPU has become an important issue. In this article, we show that resource allocation based on the workload classification of computing-bound and memory-bound is not sufficient with respect to resource utilization, and present a new thread block scheduling policy for GPGPU that makes use of fine-grained resource utilizations of each workload. Unlike previous approaches, the proposed policy reduces scheduling overhead by separating profiling and scheduling, and maximizes resource utilizations by co-locating workloads with different bottleneck resources. Through simulations under various virtual machine scenarios, we show that the proposed policy improves the GPGPU throughput by 130.6% on average and up to 161.4%.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure(VDI) adoption. VDI performance was measured by IS manager (system quality, security, and managerial operation) and business user (usability, access, and user satisfaction). The survey questionnaires were developed for measuring VDI performance. 84 data samples were collected from the companies that had adopted cloud-based VDI. This research model was verified by Smart-PLS and SPSS. The research findings were as follows: First, the companies using VDI experienced actual performance, but they did not attain their expectation. Second, as results of comparing between IS managers and business users, IS administrators had considerably higher performance than business users, which indicates that there were big differences in performance perception among users. Compared with prior research such as technical trend, system construction, and performance improvement, this study has the following implications. First, by comparing the expected performance with the actual performance of the companies that have implemented and operating VDI, it was suggested how a company that wants to adopt VDI can manage the expectation level of VDI and achieve higher actual performance. Second, because the perception of VDI performance differs between business users and system managers, it is meaningful that a fair evaluation of VDI performance requires a balanced consideration of business users and system managers.
