The objectives of this study were to analyze the color characteristics of Saikdong by the standardized color system and to applicate it's color characteristics to fashion design. 25 traditional costumes made with Saikdong were selected from four museums in Seoul. The colors were measured using CE 310 and analyzed by Munsell HV/C. The results were shown as follows; 1. The frequently used hues in Saikdong are warm colors such as red, orange, yellow. Except purplish blue, cool colors show low usage ratio. 2. The tones of medium lightness and saturation are most frequent in Saikdong colors. 3. The characteristics of color combination are the contrast of hue and the similarity in tones. This makes the saikdong splendid and harmonious. 4. Based on this anaylized characteristics of Saikdong color combination, fashion designs were developed by computer simulations.

Clothing color for animation characters is very important in expressing a given characters image and characteristics. Consequently, in this paper, we propose a tool that allows an easy and simple selection of clothing color combinations in conjunction with previous color combination image research (color image chart). This tool has two functions, The first allows the user to search what color best fits a given image, and the second calculates which image is closest to the color that user has chosen. This tool was developed so it can be used over the web, and was used to verify whether the color combination for Disney and Dream Works animated characters' clothing has been selected appropriately according to the character's image, as determined through a survey.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of four clothing cues dot pattern size and ground field of color area ratio on dress's wearer image. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scales(The 7-point semantic). The stimuli were 30 color pictures manipulated with the combination of dot pattern size, dot pattern on background of color area ratio and neutral dress's using computer simulation. The subjects were 180 female undergraduates living students in Gyeong-nam. The result of this study are as follows: Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 5 different components (visibility, gracefulness, attractiveness, cuteness, womanly). Especially, Neutral color combination independently influenced the every components. In regarding the effect of interaction between each variable, the combination of dot pattern on background of color area ratio, dot pattern size on the combination had cuteness, womanly.

The purpose of this study is to find out its effect on wearers' impression formated by combination of their body type with neutral tone clothing. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of responses to stimulus in scales(7-point semantic). 45 pictures used as stimulus are, through computer simulation, manipulated to five wearers' body type and nine neutral tone wear. The subjects are 276(?) female undergraduate students in Kyung-nam area. Factors on wearers' impression suggested as responses to the stimulus consist of 5 different demensions (Tenderness, Cuteness, Attractiveness, Elegance, Intrepidity). The results of this study are as follows: first, combination of their body type with neutral tone wear significantly affects the formation of wearers' impression in the factor of Tenderness, Attractiveness, and Intrepidity (?); to the factor of Attractiveness, wearers' body type is rather more related than wearers' neutral tone wear is. Second, the harmony of their body type with neutral tone wear has a significant effect on wearers' impression in the factor of Cuteness. According to those results, the combination of wearers' body type with neutral tone wear has significant effects on the formation of wearers' impression.

The purpose of this study was to investigate consumer evaluation on visual sensibility of stripe pattern shirts for separation coloration. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of clothing stimuli and response scales. The clothing stimuli were 27 color pictures, in which separation color(white: W, gray: G, black: B), separation width(small: S, medium: M, large: L), and combination color(magenta and yellow: MY, magenta and cyan: MC, yellow and cyan: YC) were manipulated. The subjects of this research were female in their 20s to 30s living in Seoul, Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, and Changwon. The investigation was carried out at December 2013. The data were analyzed by using SPSS program. Analysis methods were factor analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan-test. Results of this study were as follow.; The factors of visual sensibility according to separation color, separation width, and combination color consisted of four dimensions of attractiveness, appeal, individuality freshness, and grace. Separation color showed an independent effect on appeal and individuality freshness. Combination color showed an independent effect on individuality freshness. Interaction effects of separation color and separation width on appeal were found. Interaction effects of separation color and combination color on individuality freshness and grace were found. The study results are highly expected to be used as useful sources in a fashion product.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of the visual evaluation for the Picture image combination of Clothing and Ground. Using a white natural background for the urban style created a cool visual image. The use of an interior background lead to warmer images and more defination lines Causal images created a rural and warm image which expressed charm and a soft visual while using a rural and natural background. A most unharmonious and hard image was created when using an urban and formatted artificial background. The coolest visual image was created with a cool and natural background. Feminine and flawless images created urban and neat visual image using an urban and formatted artificial background. In this research, 128 stimuli of same-color coloration of lipstick and clothing were evaluated to the degree of harmony in the coordination of makeup and clothing color depending on the combination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color, lipstick tone, clothing style, and clothing tone. As to the brown eyeshadow, vivid lipstick and vivid, dull clothing, dull lipstick and light, dull, dark clothing, dark lipstick and dull, dark clothing among the combinations of red lipstick and clothing, vivid lipstick and vivid, light, dark clothing, dull lipstick and light, dull, dark clothing, dark lipstick and dark, clothing among the combinations of orange lipstick and clothing were evaluated as harmonious coloration regardless of the clothing style. As to the violet eyeshadow, vivid lipstick and vivid clothing, dull lipstick and light, dark clothing, dark lipstick and dull, dark clothing among the combinations of red lipstick and clothing, vivid lipstick and vivid, dull clothing, dull lipstick and vivid, light, dull clothing, dark lipstick and vivid, dull, dark clothing among the purple lipstick and clothing were evaluated as harmonious coloration regardless of the clothing style. Thus, the degree of harmony cannot only be different according to the clothing style even in the same coloration, but also the same clothing style can be perceived to be different degree of harmony depending on how the color and tone of clothing and lipstick are coordinate.

The purpose of this study was to examine improvements in dye uptake, expression of various colors, and color fastness when washed or exposed to light. We examined these improvements by doing the combination dyeing of Juniperus chinensis heartwood and Alnus japonica heartwood extracts. In this study, two combination dyeing methods were used. One-bath dyeing involves combining Juniperus chinensis heartwood extract and Alnus japonica heartwood extract. Two-bath dyeing involves dyeing by sequence, which means that we dyed the Juniperus chinensis heartwood extract first and then dyed Alnus japonica heartwood extract sequentially (or in the opposite order). In terms of improving dye uptake, two-bath dyeing was more effective than one-bath dyeing. For cotton, dyeing Juniperus chinensis heartwood extract first and then dyeing Alnus japonica heartwood extract sequentially showed higher dye uptake in the two-bath method, while for silk, there wasn't much difference in the dyeing order. Through combination dyeing, red-violet color from Juniperus chinensis heartwood and brown color from Alnus japonica heartwood made various Y, YR, R series of color as a result. Moreover, combination dyeing improved fabric's fastness when washed or exposed to light. In the case of cotton, fabric dyed using two-bath dyeing, with Juniperus chinensis heartwood extract being the first dye, showed improvement in fastness to washing and light. And in the case of silk, fastness to washing and light improved regardless of dyeing order in two-bath dyeing.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of Dansam and Sappan wood extract to perform combination dyeing on silk fabrics, with respect to color changes, fastness (washing, dry cleaning, perspiration, rubbing and light fastness), and functionality (antibacterial activity and deodorization). Combination dyeing was performed by first combining Dansam with Sappan wood, then Sappan wood with Dansam, in these orders. Given the changes in the combination ratio, pre-mordant treatment was performed. Looking at the surface colors of each dye, Dansam generally produces YR color series, while Sappan wood produces YR, R, and RP color series. The effects of changing the order in which combination dying was performed on the surface colors were as follows. First, combination dyeing (A) was performed by using Dansam before Sappan wood, to produce YR and R color series. Then combination dyeing (B) was performed by using Sappan wood before Dansam, to produce YR, R, and RP color series. By visual inspections, more similar color changes of the combination dyeing were noticed with the post-dyeing material rather than the pre-dyeing material. Therefore, it was presumably confirmed that surface color changes of combination dyeing were greatly influenced by the post-dyeing color. Individual dyeing tests for fastness showed that Dansam was comparatively superior to Sappan wood, which demonstrated lower fastness to washing, dry cleaning, perspiration, and light, relatively. The fastness of combination dyed samples was shown middle, but similar fastness to the post-dye material, The fastness of (B) method was higher than (A) method in the washing and light fastness. This confirms that color fastness from combination dyeing was considerably influenced by the post-dye material. It was found that all dyed samples had a very high bacterial reduction rate of 99.9% and high deodorization rate of 95%.
