The purpose of this study was to compare clothing attitude and clothing purchase behavior of two age groups of adult men,- college students and middle aged. Four aspects of clothing attitude (fashion interest, status symbol, conformity, practicality/comfort) were assessed with 20 Likert type questionnaires adapted from the previous researches. Four aspects of purchase behavior(information sources used, store patronage, importance of store attributes, clothing selection creteria for occasions) were measured with forced choice questionnaire developed or adapted from previous researches. The questionnaire were administrated to 512 male college students and middle aged men. The data were analysed using frequency, percentage, and t-test. The major findings drawn from this study were as follows : 1. Clothing comfort among four aspects of clothing attitude according to the age group was that middle-aged men showed higher conformity than college students. 2. For the information source for apparel purchase, college students used consumer dominated information source while middle-aged men used market dominated information source. 3. For apparel purchase, students preferred brand franchise store, and factory outlet/off-price store, while middle-aged preferred department store and custom-made. Among six store attributes, convenience and price were the most important attributes to the students, while convenience and high quality to the middle aged. 4. The most important clothing selection creteria for formal occasion (job interview, wedding ceremony) was dignity. Comfort/practicality were important creteria for both of leisure occasion and daily attendance (office, school).
The purpose of this study was to explore children's gender differences in their clothing orientation and clothing Purchase behaviors. For this study, data were collected from 166 fifth and sixth graders attending three elementary schools in Seoul. Questionnaire survey data were analyzed through factor analysis, cross-tabulation, and test. In result, gender differences were found in children's clothing orientation, clothing purchase behaviors, and post-purchase behaviors. Girls were more interested in clothing than were boys, and thus girls used a variety of information sources for clothing shopping, taking an active role during the purchase process, compared to boys. Different characteristics of two gender groups of older children in school age were described. Marketing implications based on findings were provided for practitioners.
The purposes of this study were to segment the cosmeceuticals market based on consumer usage behavior and to develop a profile of each segment using appearance-related variables, purchase attributes, purchase behavior and demographics. A total of 518 responses collected from a questionnaire survey to female consumers was analyzed. Cluster analysis on usage behavior of cosmeceutical products identified three groups including: Anti-aging/Whitening/Slimming product users (22% ); Pore-control product users(20%); and Minimum users(57%). MANOVA, ANOVA and Chi-square analysis revealed significant differences among the three groups on 2 appearance-related variables, 3 purchase attribute factors, 4 purchase behaviors, and 2 demographic characteristics. Based on the results, the study developed a profile of each segment and provided marketing implications.
In this study, Internet users were separated into 3 groups(clothing shoppers, clothing non-shoppers, non-shoppers). Shopping behavior of clothing shoppers(those who used the internet channel for clothing shopping) and the attitude to internet clothing shopping were examined. And characteristics of clothing shoppers were compared with characteristics of clothing non-shoppers(those who purchased goods except clothing on internet) and non-shoppers(those who purchased nothing on internet). Clothing shoppers thought clothing in internet shopping malls was not various in item, design, color, size and price. But they were satisfied with shopping convenience. 3. Clothing shoppers were more conscious of the shopping cost compared with clothing non-shoppers and non-shoppers Recreational shopping orientations and fashion leader orientations were low in both groups. Self-confidence in connection with clothing purchase were high in each groups, but that of clothing shoppers were relatively higher than clothing non-shoppers and non-shoppers. 4. The reason why clothing non-shoppers and non-shoppers didnt purchase clothing in internet shopping malls was that they wanted to buy after trying on clothing in a store, didnt believe the quality of clothing, didnt need to purchase clothing in internet shopping malls, and worried about exchange & refund.
This study is designed to classify consumer groups based on their perception toward department store credit cards and the behavior they exhibit during the purchase of clothing. This classification is based on the study of factors taken into consideration during shopping and disparities in credit cared usage., The specific goals of this study are the following : First it is to classify female consumers over age 20 into "shopping orientation" types and "clothing purchase behavior" types according to their perception towards department store credit care usage. Second it is to discover the degree of perceived utility of department store credit card in clothing purchases. Third finally it is to assist a department store credit card market researcher establish a marketing strategy to best address consumers; needs and wants in credit card purchases The study methodology utilized and the results found were that : 1. The division of consumers into positive and negative groups based on factor analysis with the positive group found to have favorable attitudes towards department store credit card usage. 2. Classification of female consumers into three " shopping orientations" : fashion purchasing economic value purchasing and convenience purchasing. The positive group were predominantly fashion convenience purchasers who valued low cost and convenience over "fashionability" 3. The three classes of "purchase behavior" used were impulse buying planned buying and unplanned buying. The positive group those who had favorable attitudes toward department store credit cards. made mostly impulse and unplanned purchases while the negative group made largely planned purchasee the negative group made largely planned purchase.
This study aims to present a marketing strategy in the infant wear market with regard to consumer segments by analyzing benefits infant clothing purchases. For this study the consumer's evaluation criteria, usage of information source and characteristics of purchase behavior were analyzed by clustered consumers' groups. The results of the study are as follows: 1) Four factors were revealed as the result of the factor analysis on the benefits in infant clothing purchases. The factors were labeled fashionability, brand value, individuality, and practicality. 2) The result of the cluster analysis showed that it was most appropriate to categorize consumers into four groups based on the benefits of infant clothing purchases. 3) There were a significant difference in evaluation criteria, usage of information source, and characteristics of purchase behavior in terms of buying plan, retail store, purchase frequency, amount money spent, named brand purchase, and vicarious satisfaction among the groups.
The Purpose of the study is to identify some factors affecting the consumer behavior of the Oriental students in the United States and provide some basic information for desirable consumer skills. The ninety subjects ere collected form the Oriental groups who were studying in Denton, Texas, U.S.A. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, X2-test. The results are as follows: 1) There are significant similarities in the consumer behavior of the Oriental students regarding the information source, the preferred type of clothing, the factors affecting the choice of retail store, and the satisfaction after the clothing purchase. 2) There are some differences in the consumer behavior among three groups regarding expenditures of the purchase of clothing and the preferred choice of retail store. This study concludes that the Oriental students tend to: 1) adjust their life style to new situation ; 2) avoid their conflicts dur to the language barrier; 3) have a limited income to stay in the USA; and 4) have their own social acceptability based on their nationality.

The purpose of this study was to find out the shopping motive factors of clothing and to classify consumer groups according to clothing shopping motives, and also to analyze demographic characteristics, conspicuous consumption and clothing purchase behavior among consumer groups. The clothing behavior of male homosexuals were examined. Especially their clothing preference, clothing purchase behavior and clothing symbols as a group took were analysed. The score stimuli was the most frequently used information for apparel shopping, and fashion magazines were also used as an important information source. 4. The clothing related symbols used to represent group look were lightly-fitted style. right ear-piercing, tight-fit plaid pants, leather look, rainbow flag, bandannas, reversed triangle. etc. And the subjects thought the symbols were not meaningful as group look because they were already adopted by the non-homosexual people. And they thought that their style of fashion has influenced on that of mass.
