  • This study was done to investigate and compare satisfaction of clinical practice and its influencing factors between associate and bachelor nursing students. The participants were 420 nursing students in two cities. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires, and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. Satisfaction of clinical practice in associate and bachelor nursing students correlated with self-esteem, self-efficacy, interpersonal relationships, and satisfaction of major. Significant factor influencing satisfaction of clinical practice in associate nursing students was satisfaction of major, and this factor accounted for 26.8% of the variance in satisfaction of clinical practice. And significant factors influencing satisfaction of clinical practice in bachelor nursing students were satisfaction of major, interpersonal relationships and gender, and these factors accounted for 31.9% of the variance in satisfaction of clinical practice. The above findings indicate that satisfaction of clinical practice in nursing students is influenced by satisfaction of major and interpersonal relationships. Therefore, when nursing interventions are developed to improve satisfaction of clinical practice in nursing students, these factors need to be considered.

The instrument for satisfaction level with clinical practice included self-esteem(1 question), interest and usefulness(2 questions), knowledge application(1 question), place of clinical practice(1 question), and influence by practice leader(1 question). Cronbach alpha was 0.773 in the study. The instrument of social support was adapted from Park and reconstructed. Social support included emotional support(11 questions), self-esteem support(7 questions), and informative support(4 questions). Social support was score by Likert 5 scale and higher score showed the higher social support. Results: The dental hygiene students got a mean of $3.11{\pm}0.55$ in clinical practice satisfaction. They got 3.35 points in satisfaction with major and 3.32 in satisfaction with curricula(p<0.001). They got a mean of $3.68{\pm}0.55$ in social support. They got $3.69{\pm}0.57$ in emotional support; $3.81{\pm}0.59$ in self-esteem support; and $3.53{\pm}0.66$ in informative support. The target of study are selected form 7 junior health college students and colleges are located in around seoul form 14 junior health college throughout the nation. The questionnaries were distributed between 24th Feb to 30th July in 1997 to the 100 dental technicians who finished clinical practice and entered profession in 1997. All collected data were analysed by using SPSS/PC, Technical Statistic, One-Way ANOVA, Ttest, Person Correnlation Coefficient, Chrobach Alpha Coefficient and the result of the study is follow. 1) The satisfaction degree were classificated as 7 aspect and overall average score was 3.042. During that period satisfaction of personal relation aspect(M=3.737) shows highest level. Satsfiaction of clinical parctice(M=3.571) shows as second, Satisfiaction of environment(M=3.028), Satisfaction of guidance(M=2.915), satisfaction of subject are ordered of their scores. According to above study satisfaction's degree of subject show lowest level. 2) According to the result of verification of study. general character of student and satisfiaction degree has not much relation with sex, location of college, religion, period for enrolling college, teaching method of clinical practice. But the result show similar relation with following items. Satisfaction if subject and satisfaction of clinical practice(P=0.000), place of clinical practice and satisfaction of clinical practice(P=0.002), Academic record of college and satisfaction of clinical practice(P=0.000). 3) The relation of satisfaction(Subject, method of teaching, environment, period, rating, personal relation) of clinical practice and age of investigation's target Older student show higher satisfaction(P=0.040). Also method of teaching, environments, period, rating, personal relation has similarities with satisfaction. Therefore student who has higher satisfaction of clinical practice they also have higher rate for subject, environment, period, personal relation. 4) The result fo investigation, most interesting subject was crown & bridge and most difficult factor was too many simple-works to the student. One of ideal factor was discussing with counselor before they choose place for clinical practice. Third grade and first semester is most efficient time for clinical practice and 8 week is proper period for clinical practice. Clinical practice is absilutory mecessary and we find out most student rated positively. However we need more specific study about satisfcation of each subject. Because it shows lowest level and we need more pay attention for planning of clinical practice.

  • This study attempted to analyze and confirm the correlation between self-concept and the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice. The subjects of the survey were 194 junior and senior students selected from S universities by questionaire from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30, 1983 in Seoul. The collected data was analyzed by t-test, AN-OVA, Pearson correlation according to purpose of study. The results were as follows: 1. Self-concept by religion was significant (F = 4.51, df=4/185, p= .002). 2. In the motives of selecting the nursing, most of students chose the nursing depending on their altruism(62.9%), ability and aptitude(57.7%) and better opportunity of studying abroad and Setting a job(49.5%) respectively. 3. The degree of clinical practice satisfaction was low as 2.80 of a total score 4.0. The degree of satisfaction of contents(3.33) revealed to be high. Compared with the degree of satisfaction on instruction(2.77), practice hours(2.83), practice environment (3.65), and clinical evaluation(2.60) revealed to be low. Religion and choice order of the admission were not significant in satisfaction of clinical practice(t=.37, p=.715). The main hypothesis that“The more positive self concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice will be”was not supported (r= .0509, p=.240). The first sub-hypothesis that“The more positive the cognitive self-concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction will be”was partially supported. Because favorite-isolated self-concept was significantly correlated with the satisfaction (r=.1189, P=.005). The second sub·hypothesis that“The more positive the evaluational self-concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice will be”was not supported. As a above results, self-concept was not influenced to the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice, therefore it is required that environment, instruction method and evaluation for clinical practice should be refined and improved by clinical administrators and nursing faculties for nor-sing student's satisfaction on clinical practice.

  • Purpose: This study examines the clinical practice satisfaction and major satisfaction of dental technology students who have experienced clinical practice to identify whether there is an effect on employment intention of satisfaction level as a basis for increasing the employment rate of dental technicians. Methods: A survey was distributed among 150 dental technology students, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency and correlation analyses. Finally, multiple regression analysis was used to verify the research hypotheses. All statistical analyses were carried out using IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 27.0 (IBM). Results: The students exhibited high levels of satisfaction with their clinical practice (4.20) and dental technology major (4.07). Further analysis showed a positive correlation between intention to work in dental laboratories and satisfaction with a dental technology major (practice; r=0.437, p<0.05); clinical practice organization (r=0.682, p<0.05); and satisfaction with the clinical practice institution (r=0.650, p<0.05). Statistically significant positive associations (p<0.05) were also observed between clinical practice form and environment, satisfaction with dental technology major, and school region (i.e., metropolitan area). Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that high levels of satisfaction with clinical practice and dental technology major can contribute to increased employment rates among dental technicians by promoting their intention to work in the related industry.
