본 실험은 칼슘 결핍과 난소 제거로 유발한 골다공증에 대한 한방요법의 효과에 대하여 고찰하였다. 1) 난소 제거로 인한 에스트로겐의 결핍 및 칼슘 결핍은 폐경여성에서 관찰되어지는 것처럼 골강도 및 골밀도의 손실을 일으켰다. 2) 한방 추출물의 투여는 에스트로겐 결핍 및 칼슘 결핍으로 유도된 골강도 및 골밀도 손실에 대한 예방효과가 관찰되었다 3) 난소제거로 인한 에스트로겐의 결핍 및 칼슘 결핍은 골대사의 생화학적 지표들(혈청 중 alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase, osteocalcin, 그리고 뇨중 deoxyopyridinoline 농도)에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 4) 한방 추출물의 투여 또한 골 대사의 생화학적 지표들에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 결론적으로, 한방 추출물의 골손실에 대한 예방효과는 한방 추출물의 골다공증 치료제로서의 가능성을 제시하며, 새로운 골다공증 치료제 개발 일환으로 한방추출물의 적용기간 및 농도 변화를 통한 계속적인 연구가 요구되어진다.

Background: A number of association studies have been carried out to investigate the relationship between genetic polymorphisms in DNA repair genes and response to radiotherapy-based multimodality treatment of patients with rectal cancer. However, their conclusions were inconsistent. The objective of the present study was to assess the role of DNA repair gene genetic polymorphisms in predicting genetic biomarkers of the response in rectal cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiation. Materials and Methods: Studies were retrieved by searching the PubMed database, Cochrane Library, Embase, and ISI Web of Knowledge. We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the association between genetic polymorphisms and the response in rectal cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiation by checking odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Data were extracted from 5 clinical studies for this meta-analysis. The results showed that XRCC1 RS25487, XRCC1 RS179978, XRCC3 RS861539, ERCC1 RS11615 and ERCC2 RS13181 were not associated with the response in the radiotherapy-based multimodality treatment of patients with rectal cancer (p>0.05). Conclusions: This study shows that DNA repair gene common genetic polymorphisms are not significantly correlated with the radiotherapy-based multimodality treatment in rectal cancer patients.

데이터 처리 및 도표화는 임상 연구 보고서에 부록을 작성할 때 시간 소모적인 작업이다. 저자는 SAS (버전 9.3) 및 R (버전 3.3.1: PK 플롯 생성 용)을 사용하여 CDISC/SDTM 표준에 부합하는 자동 부록 생성 시스템 (ARGUS)을 개발했다. 이 시스템은 하나의 주 프로그램과 세 개의 서브 프로그램으로 구성되어 있다. 일반적인 데스크탑 환경에서 제출 버튼을 누른 후 약 1 분 만에 데이터베이스 파일을 MS Word 형식의 부록 문서로 변환한다. ARGUS 시스템을 사용하여 약 8일간 팀을 구성한 부록을 작성하던 작업이 6~7 시간 내에 완료되었다.

Adding to the complexity of caring for critically ill patients is the fact that many of them have a creatinine clearance that exceeds $130mL/min/1.73m^2$. This phenomenon, termed augmented renal clearance (ARC), has only recently been widely recognized and its pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. However, ARC has been shown to result in increased dose requirements for drugs that are primarily eliminated by renal excretion, including many antimicrobial agents and enoxaparin. Recognition of ARC is hampered by the fact that the standard creatinine-based equations used to estimate renal function are not accurate in this clinical setting and the diagnosis is best established using both serum and urine creatinine measurements to calculate clearance. So a high index of clinical suspicion and awareness is usually required before this step is taken to confirm the diagnosis of ARC.
