  • Climate change has been social and environmental issues, it typically indicates the trend changes of not only temperature but also rainfall. There is a need to consider climate changes in a long-term soil erosion estimation since soil loss in a watershed can be varied by the changes of rainfall intensity and frequency of torrential rainfall. The impacts of rainfall trend changes on soil loss, one of climate changes, were estimated using Sediment Assessment Tool for Effective Erosion Control (SATEEC) employing L module with current climate scenario and future climate scenario collected from the Korea Meteorological Administration. A 62 $km^2$ watershed was selected to explore the climate changes on soil loss. SATEEC provided an increasing trend of soil loss with the climate change scenarios, which were 182 ton/ha/year in 2010s, 169 ton/ha/year in 2020s, 192 ton/ha/year in 2030s,182 ton/ha/year in 2040s, and 218 ton/ha/year in 2050s. Moreover, it was found that approximately 90% of agricultural area in the watershed displayed the soil loss of 50 ton/ha/year which is exceeding the allow able soil loss regulation by the Ministry of Environment.

  • Climate changes have impacted to many sectors including water resources in Vietnam. Vietnam is agricultural development country having a lot of reservoirs. These reservoirs play a very important role in flow regulation for water supply to economic sectors. In the context of undesirable impacts of climate change such as increasing temparature, evaporation, changing rainfall and rainfall pattern, water demands and inflow to reservoirs also are being influenced. This leads to changes of resevoir exploitation effects that needs to be assessed for adaptation solutions. This arcticle summaries the development of a tool for quick assessement of climate change impacts on exploitation effect of reservoir in central provinces of Vietnam.

  • Climate changes have become the major issue for the sustainable society and the various regulation has been established for promoting low carbon and green growth in Korea. The paper industry as a large comsumer of energy is forced to cope with these regulation. In this study, the various examples were investigated for providing the basic schemes to develop environmental management strategies of Korean paper industry. The various cases to follow carbon economic were introduced and were categorized into five ways, for example, the carbon capture projects such as reforestation, the increasing the process efficiency, the resource recovery form process waste, the cogeneration systems, the application of non-woody biomass.

  • Since the global warming problem emerged in the international community, the problem has been sought to be not at the national but at the global level. As a result, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was agreed by international delegates in 1992, and the Kyoto Protocol which imposes industrialized nations to decrease their greenhouse gas emission was agreed by the international community in 1997. Kyoto protocol came into effect for reduction duty of greenhouse gas.(16-Feb-2005) High developed countries press environmental regulation. It will strengthen an environment regulation from advanced nation with this protocol. This study is intended to examine unfolding transition on negotiations of Conference of Parties(COP), the Kyoto Mechanism referred as a cost-effective tool to meet a targeted level of greenhouse gas decrease, and trends in responses of developed countries to the Kyoto Protocol, and finally suggests legal and politic counterplans responding to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (hereafter, UNFCCC).

International environmental regulations of global community to reduce the green house gases have Influenced the domestic environmental policies. Recently, various policy have been made to cope with foreign environment restrction and active supports for development of related technology have been carried out in our government confrontation strategy still leaves much to be desired. In this paper, government confrontation program to climate agreement, counter strategies in motor and also electrics, electronics industries are investigated and discussed.

  • In these days abnormal climate occurs frequently because of global warming and earthshock. So it is necessary to prepare for the abnormal conditions like gale, rainfall, heavy snow and high temperature. Fortunately, Korea high speed rail(KTX) have a safety climate detection system for the abnormal weather by using CTC. So the safety is guaranteed in most aspect. But in convention line there isn't any alarm system for the abnormal condition and the train runs until the railroad loss occurred. So convention line need additional regulation same as KTX for the abnormal climate and in the near future passenger safety must be protected by new alarm system.

  • Latest development of ICT makes building, including houses, factories and public facilities, more intelligent and automatized. It follows that a wide variety of electric and ICT installations are adopted along with micro electronic equipments. Corresponding to such changes, the frequency of lightning increases due to the abnormal climate. The major damage by lightning surge is disconnection and malfunction of facilities. It is necessary, therefore, to make a regulation of inspection and maintenance for lightning protection facilities. This paper deals with main issues of a regulation draft of inspection and maintenance for lightning protection facilities based on IEC 62305

  • As biodiversity and climate change have become main issues in recent times, the role of the forest ecosystem has been more important and forest conservation has been highlighted. The purpose of this study is to estimate forest area with high conservation values in Gapyung-gun by considering forest ecosystem services. The indicators of biodiversity, climate regulation, and water regulation were selected for assessment in this study. To assess biodiversity, habitat structural features and distribution characteristics of species were analyzed. Climate regulation and water regulation were assessed through analysis of carbon absorption volume and water storage. The result showed that, 50.1% of the forests in Gapyung-gun had high conservation values. The results were verified by comparing them with distribution tendencies of other environmental maps, which represent forest ecological values, and showed similar distribution tendencies. The study was conducted on only Gapyung-gun in Korea; however, the methods used in this study could be utilized for assessment of other areas to identify forests with high conservation values.

  • Under New Climate Regime, countries are trying to enhance environmental regulations to meet international standards. This study is designed to examine the relationship between the relative level of environmental regulation of the importing countries and the export performance at the industrial level. Panel data from 2009 to 2018 was established for 12 top export industries and empirical analysis was conducted. For the analysis method, panel OLS, Hausman-Taylor, and panel GLS were used based on the results of the Hausman verification. The dependent variable is the export performance of each industry. As the independent variables, the relative level of environmental regulation, GDP per capita of the importing country, exchange rate, FTA agreement, and physical distance from the importing country were used. Results show that the relative level of environmental regulation has a negative effect on export performance of semiconductors, displays, special machines, general machines, electric appliances, and home appliances. On the other hand, there are no relationship between the relative level of environmental regulation of the importing country and export performance of automobile, petroleum refining, petrochemical, shipbuilding, and communication equipment industries.
