This study presents the flora of nonvascular plants (bryophytes) and vascular plants within the Wangpicheon Ecosystem and Landscape Conservation Area in Korea. The time of the survey was divided into four seasons. The fieldwork was conducted for a total of 18 days from November of 2016 to October of 2017. The land plants in the Wangpicheon conservation area were identified as 758 taxa with 164 families, 455 genera, 698 species, 10 subspecies, 47 varieties and 3 forms. Among them, bryophytes amounted to 122 taxa and vascular plants numbered 636 taxa. Native plant amounted to 693 taxa. In total, there are 113 floristic target species in Korea, including one level V taxon, in this case Swertia wilfordii; six level IV taxa; 31 level III taxa; 38 level II taxa; and 37 level I taxa. There are nine endemic plants, including Sillaphyton (=Peucedanum) podagraria, which is the endemic genus; two rare plants; fifteen northern plants; and one southern plant as target plants adaptable to climate change. Also, there are forty-six naturalized plants and five ecosystem-disturbance organisms. The results of this study suggest several species that should be preserved and can serve as basic information with which to establish conservation and management plans for the Wangpicheon conservation area.

This study was conducted to investigate the vascular flora of two outstanding forest wetlands(OFW) in Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, and to prepare an efficient management plan for forest wetlands through comparison with previous studies. Fieldwork was conducted seasonally from May to October 2023, The flora in the two OFW located in Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, consisted of 117 taxa such as 55 families, 92 genera, 108 species, 7 variants, 1 variety and 1 hybrid. The endemic plants were 4 taxa and rare plants were 7 taxa. Floristic target plants were V class 2 taxa, IV class 6 taxa, III class 8 taxa, II class 4 taxa and Iclass 21 taxa. Climate change adaptation plants were 10 taxa and naturalized plants was 1 taxa. Obligate wetland plants were 16 taxa, Facultative wetland plants 10 taxa and Facultative plant 4 taxa. OFW functioning a typical wetland ecosystem in Goheung-gun had been providing habitats for a variety of rare plants, such as the Habenaria radiata and Drosera rotundifolia. But those ecosystems would be suffering a critical disturbance such as human interference, the invasion of naturalized plants, and change of wetland function through landization for a short future. Therefore we suggest those OFWs should be designated as a Forest Genetic Resource Reserve in order to keep the ecosystems permanently and to manage them more soundly and efficiently.
This study aimed to investigate the flora of Jinjosan Mt. (Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do). The vascular plants were surveyed 9 times between March 2019 and April 2020. The results of this survey revealed a total of 414 taxa comprising of 87 families, 274 genera, 365 species, 12 subspecies, 32 varieties, and 5 forms. Among them, 9 taxa were Korean endemic plants and 5 taxa were rare plants of Korea. In addition, the specific plants by floristic region were 66 taxa including 1 taxon of grade IV, 18 taxa of grade III, 24 taxa of grade II, and 23 taxa of grade I. Additionally, eight taxa were classified as plants adaptable to climate change. Thirty-one taxa were of alien plants and three taxa were of ecosystem disturbance species, which were also investigated. The percentage of naturalized plants species and the urbanization index were estimated to be 7.5% and 5.0%, respectively. Our results provide basic data on vascular plants flora, and will guide the conservation processes of plant resources such as plant diversity and distributional changes in Jinjosan Mt.
This study of vascular plants was conducted over a period of 33 days from March to October of 2018 in Byeonsanbando National Park, South Korea. Based on voucher specimens and photographs, 829 taxa in total were recorded, including 141 families, 458 genera, 748 species, 16 subspecies, 59 varieties, and 6 forma. Two endangered taxa were identified, Iris koreana Nakai and Saururus chinensis (Lour.) Baill. Five rare taxa were found, including Abeliophyllum distichum Nakai and Hypodematium glanduloso-pilosum (Tagawa) Ohwi. A total of 17 Korean endemic plants were investigated. Examples include Elsholtzia byeonsanensis M. Kim, Eranthis byunsanensis B. Y. Sun, and Lycoris flavescens M. Kim & S. T. Lee. Of floristic regional indicators (third to fifth degree), 52 taxa were identified. Naturalized plants were identified, which included 79 taxa, and 7 species of ecosystem disturbance plants, such as Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Lactuca serriola L., and Solidago altissima L. were found. We recorded 39 taxa of the plants vulnerable to climate change.

This study carried out a survey to utilize basic data for the conservation of northern lineage plants that are vulnerable to climate change, targeting algific talus slope of a specific forest biodiversity region in Yeotan-ri, Jeongseon-eup, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do. The survey was conducted by dividing the wind hole into 625 m2 inside and 6,925 m2 outside based on the wind hole. The vascular flora were identified as 84 families, 203 genera, 296 species, 6 subs., 27 var., 2 for., and a total of 331 taxa. This was found to be about 7% of 4,724 species of vascular plants in Korea. Plants endemic to the Korean peninsula were identified as 19 taxa, including Syringa fauriei, and 11 taxa for rare plants designated by IUCN. Critically endangered grade (CR) was Paeonia obovata 1 taxa, Endangered grade (EN) was Forsythia saxatilis and Prunus choreiana 2 taxa. A total of 78 taxa were florisitc target species, and 19 taxa were classified for indicator plants in the limestone area. As for alien plants, 20 taxa such as Taraxacum officinale were identified, and the naturalization rate was 6.04% and the urbanization rate was 5.33%. Geographical plants of the study area are 2 taxa of Syringa fauriei and Syringa villosa subsp. wolfii.
Many plant species in subalpine regions are under threat of extinction as a result of climate change. In this study, the genetic diversity and geographic differentiation of three regions and six populations of Primula farinosa subsp. modesta (Bisset & Moore) Pax in Korea were assessed using the ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeat) marker. The average genetic diversity (P = 60.62, SI = 0.299, h = 0.190) was relatively lower than that of other long-lived perennials, even though it is a self-incompatible species. AMOVA analysis showed that 50% of the total genetic diversity was partitioned among regions and Bayesian cluster analysis showed some remarkable geographic trends that were structured into 2 or 3 regions, suggesting limited gene flow among regions. Considering the population fragmentation, low level genetic diversity, and high genetic differentiation, it is essential to establish in situ and ex situ conservation strategies for P. farinosa subsp. modesta.
This study was carried out to illuminate the flora of vascular plants of islands at Chungnam. This study was conducted from March to November, 2010. Based on the voucher, vascular plants of in investigated islands were 105 families 326 genera 454 species 4 subspecies 45 varieties 9 forms, totally 512 taxa. Korean endemic plants were 6 species such as Aster koraiensis, Salix koriyanagi, Indigofera koreana, Hemerocallis taeanensis, Hepatica insularis, Philadelphus schrenckii, rare and endangered plants of designated by Korea Forest Service were 4 taxa, such as Magnolia kobus (planted), Koelreuteria paniculata, Berchemia racemosa var. magna, Glehnia littoralis respectively. Phytogeographical special plants were totally 69 taxa, which were grade I of 50 taxa, grade II of 1 axon, grade III of 11 taxa, grade IV of 4 taxa, and grade V of 3 taxa. 14 southern plants and 4 northern plant by criterion from climate change study were found in this area. Naturalized plants were 17 families 46 taxa, that was 9.1% of total vascular plants in this area. Even naturalized plants has not influence on the islands vegetation. However, regular passenger ferry between islands and increasing of visiter will be affecting vegetation.
The physiological effects of elevated $CO_2$ concentration and temperature were examined for Quercus gilva and Q. glauca grown under control (ambient $CO_2$ and temperature) and treatment (elevated $CO_2$ and temperature) conditions for 39 months. The objective of the study was to measure the long-term responses, in physiological parameters, of two oaks species exposed to elevated $CO_2$ and temperature. The photosynthetic rate of Q. gilva was found to be decreased, but that of Q. glauca was not significantly affected, after long-term exposure to elevated $CO_2$ and temperature. Stomatal conductance of Q. glauca was reduced by 21.7%, but that of Q. gilva was not significantly affected, by long-term exposure to $CO_2$ and temperature. However, the transpiration rate of the two oak species decreased. Water use efficiency of Q. gilva was not significantly affected by elevated $CO_2$ and temperature, while that of Q. glauca was increased by 56.6%. The leaves of Q. gilva grown under treatment conditions had an increased C:N ratio due to their reduced nitrogen content, while those of Q. glauca were not significantly affected by long-term exposure to elevated $CO_2$ and temperature. These results suggest that the long-term responses to elevated $CO_2$ and temperature between Q. gilva and Q. glauca are different, and that Q. gilva, the endangered species, is more sensitive to elevated $CO_2$ and temperature than Q. glauca.
