1. So-gal IS also called as so-jung, So-dan, Pe-so, Jung-so. Gyuk-so. 2. Cause of So-gal is impairment of Jin-Aek. induced by mal intake. stress, overstrain, intoxication, aging. The process is done by Cho-yeol. 3. Symptoms of So-gal is classified m to three categories Sang-So stands for polydipsia, Jung-So stands for polyphagia and weight loss, and Ha-So stands for polyuria. 4. In treating of So-gal, Chung-Hwa Bo-eum Bo-yang is the main principle. The fundamental basis of treating So-gal is Chi-shin. 5. It is not easy to perfectly classify symptoms of So-gal into three categories Therefore further inquiry is required on classification methods of So-gal.
Powdery mildew diseases previously unrecorded in Korea were noticed on four species of ornamental trees. Field observations on each disease were described and the causal fungi were identified. Powdery mildew of Symplocos chinensis for. pilosa was found to occur mildly, especially on plants growing in shade. The causal fungus was identified as Microsphaera nomurae U. Braun. Cornus florida was found to be infected with Microsphaera pulchra Cooke & Peck and supposed to be epidemic in nursery. Powdery mildew of Malus baccata occurred on young leaves and herbaceous stems in nursery. The causal fungus was classified as Podosphaera leucotricha (Ellis & Everh.) Salmon. Powdery mildew of Ulmus macrocarpa was found to occur in autumn and severe on young shoots. Uncinula kenjiana Homma was identified as the causal fungus.
This study was conducted to investigate the association between initial nutritional status and treatment outcome of hepatoma patients. Initial nutritional status was measured based on weight, serum albumin and total lymphocyte counts. Treatment outcome was measured in the three categories such as complication, treatment status at discharge and mortality. The study subjects were 120 patients with hepatoma cancer admitted at a university hospital in Seoul. The information about initial nutritional status and treatment outcome was collected from medical records. Chi-square test was used to test the association between initial nutritional status and treatment outcome As a result. 76.6% of the subjects were classified as the nutritional risk group based on initial nutritional states. Prevalence of complication was higher in nutritional risk group I and II than that in non-risk group(p<0.05). Death rare of the nutritional risk group was significantly higher than that of non-risk group(p<0.001). The findings suggest the strong association between the initial nutritional status and treatment outcome of hepatoma cancer.

Objective : This study was aimed to classify diseases that Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is better at treating. Method : Literature was searched on China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and categorized according to literature type, published date and research method. Studied six types of research papers and four types of published books. Results : Experts were surveyed and interviewed, medical records were studied retrospectively, and doubleblind method was used in selecting diseases that TCM was better at treating. There were a total of 372 diseases that TCM was better at treating. By the KCD classification, 45 were in gastrointestinal (12.1%), 39 in urogenital (10.5%), 36 in circulatory (9.7%), 35 in musculoskeletal or connective tissues (9.4%). Conclusion : Total of 372 diseases were classified as diseases that TCM was better at treating, and if the results are used adequately, the values of western and TCM can be maximized and benefit the government, patients and the medical practitioners.
Energy consumption statistics have been surveyed for 50 large commercial buildings with high energy consumption records in Seoul City. The buildings were classified into three different groups for data analysis: hospitals, hotels, and department stores/office buildings. The analysis was focused on identifying installed boiler and refrigerator data, energy consumption rates, and energy load distribution throughout the year. Refrigerating electricity was confirmed again to affect most on the formation of the summer electricity load peak as expected. Replacing the refrigerator electricity peak in the summer with co-generation in large commercial buildings. However, overall heat load distribution in a single building is still considered not large enough for economically feasible co-generation and thus joint co-generation for multiple neighboring buildings are preferred and the Electric Power Law and LNG pricing policy should be revised favorably for co-generation in advance.
Compliance with food group and nutrient recommendations, and self-efficacy, stage of change, perceived barriers and benefits for healthy eating were assessed among a convenience sample of college students majoring in health-related disciplines. Dietary and psychosocial data were collected using three-day food records and scales, respectively. Means (SD), frequencies, and percents were calculated on all data, and logistic regressions were used to determine whether any of the psychosocial correlates predicted the stage of change for healthy eating. Noncompliance with food group recommendations ranged from 53% for the meat/meat alternates group to 93% for the vegetables/juice group, whereas noncompliance with nutrient recommendations ranged from 26% for cholesterol to 99% for potassium. A majority of students (57%) self-classified in the preaction and 40% in the action stages of change for eating healthy. The students' self-efficacy to eat healthy was highest in positive/social situations and lowest when experiencing emotional upset. The most important perceived barrier to healthy eating was that friends/roommates do not like to eat healthy foods, and the most important perceived benefit was that eating healthy foods provides the body with adequate nutrients. The difficult/inconvenient self-efficacy subscale predicted the stage of change for healthy eating. These students would benefit from interactive learning opportunities that teach how to purchase and prepare more whole grain foods, fruits, and vegetables, enhance their self-efficacy for making healthy food choices when experiencing negative emotions, and overcome perceived barriers to healthy eating.
The study on the classification of the Chindo Islands ascidians was conducted by collecting the specimens from five localities in July and November, 1994 and the previous records. The ascidians were classified into 7 families, 11 genera and 16 species. They are all known species in Korean waters. Among them nine species were found to be new to the Chindo Is. From the standpoint of water forms, the composition of the ascidians from Chindo Is. is made up of three elements, viz., temperate (8species, 50%), temperature-tropical (7 species, 44%) and tropical (1 species, 6%) . A boreal water species and boreal-temperature species were not found . It may be attributable to the fact that the water of this area is warm because of Kuroshio Water Current.
Background: Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is a malignant neoplasm that most commonly occurs in the urinary bladder. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathologic features, recurrence and progression in patients with bladder urothelial cancer. Materials and Methods: The medical records of patients diagnosed with UC in the state pathology laboratory between January 2006 and July 2014 were retrospectively included. Carcinomas were categorized according to age, gender, histologic grade, tumor configuration, pathologic staging, recurrence status, and progression. Results: A total of 125 (113 men, 12 women) patients were examined. The mean age was 65.9 years and the male-to-female urothelial cancer incidence ratio was 9.4:1. Low-grade UCs were observed in 85 (68%) and high-grade in 40 (32%). A papillary tumor pattern was observed in 67.2% of the UCs. Cases were classified with the following pathological grades: 34 (27.2%) cases of pTa, 70 (56%) of pT1, and 21 (16.8%) of pT2. Recurrence occurred in 27 (21.6%) patients. Ten progressed to a higher stage (pT1 to pT2), and three cases to higher grade (low to high). We also analyzed the results separately for 70 (56%) patients 65 years of age and older. Conclusions: With early detection and diagnosis of precursor lesions in older patients, by methods such as standard urologic evaluation, urinary cytology, ultrasound scanning and contrast urography, and cystoscopy, in addition to coordinated efforts between pathologists and urologists, early diagnosis may reduce the morbidity and mortality of patients with urothelial carcinoma.
This study analyzed a correlation between crime and meteorological changes and discomfort index of Seoul and p resented a prediction expression through the regression analysis. For data used in this study, crime data from Januar y 2008 to December 2012 of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and meteorological records and discomfort index recor ded in the Meteorological Agency through the portal sites were used. Based on this data, SPSS 18.0 was used for the regression analysis and the analysis of correlation between crime and meteorological changes and discomfort index and a prediction expression was derived through the analysis and the risk index was shown in 5 steps depending on predicted values obtained through the prediction expression derived. The risk index of 5 steps classified like this is considered to be used as important data for crime prevention activities.
