A Study on Function Requirements for the Development of a Web Version of Korean Decimal Classification (한국십진분류법 웹 버전 개발을 위한 기능요건 연구)

  • New technologies representing the Fourth Industrial Revolution are already being realized in library services. There is not, however, active research on measures to increase work efficiency by introducing a new technology in the work of "classification" that is part of the traditional librarian jobs they should continue in the future. The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) has not issued a print version since 2018. This study analyzes cases of WebDewey, Classification Web, and UDC Online. The functions required for the development of the Korean Decimal Classification (KDC) web version were derived, and the final functions suitable for the development of the KDC web version were proposed through AHP analysis.

  • In This paper, we propose the unsupervised learning and fuzzy logic-based coupled data classification method base on ART. The unsupervised learning-based data classification helps improve the grouping technique, but decreases the processing efficiency. However, the data classification requires the decision technique to induce high success rate of data classification with optimal threshold. Therefore it is also necessary to solve the uncertainty of the threshold decision. The proposed method deduces the optimal threshold with the designing of fuzzy parameter and rules. In order to evaluate the proposed method, we design the simulation model with the GPCR(G protein coupled receptor) data in cloud computing environment. Simulation results verify the efficiency of our method with the high recognition rate and low processing time.

Semantic-based Genetic Algorithm for Feature Selection (의미 기반 유전 알고리즘을 사용한 특징 선택)

  • In this paper, an optimal feature selection method considering sematic of features, which is preprocess of document classification is proposed. The feature selection is very important part on classification, which is composed of removing redundant features and selecting essential features. LSA (Latent Semantic Analysis) for considering meaning of the features is adopted. However, a supervised LSA which is suitable method for classification problems is used because the basic LSA is not specialized for feature selection. We also apply GA (Genetic Algorithm) to the features, which are obtained from supervised LSA to select better feature subset. Finally, we project documents onto new selected feature subset and classify them using specific classifier, SVM (Support Vector Machine). It is expected to get high performance and efficiency of classification by selecting optimal feature subset using the proposed hybrid method of supervised LSA and GA. Its efficiency is proved through experiments using internet news classification with low features.

  • Storm and flood damage management systems in national disaster management system(NDMS) were organized into three operation systems. They are prevention, preparation, response, and recovery systems. Disaster resources in each system must be promptly and exactly applied to minimize casualties and loss of properties. However, the disaster resources in current management system can not be immediately used in calamity situation due to the lack of efficiency in statistical data. In this study, the classification system of the disaster resources in storm and flood damage systems was examined to develop the a standard technology in disaster resources management. Problems and reformation points of the classification system were also presented to improve the classification technique and to construct the data base.

  • While the amount of information exchanged through internet has dramatically increased recently, certain inefficiencies still exist with regard to the storage, distribution, and retrieval of information. As a means of improving efficiency in accessing information, many search portals provide directory services to present organized guidance to information, based on the classification schemes. This study examines the classification activities practiced by the major search portals in Korea and makes some suggestions to improve the quality of directory services.

  • The Design Protection Act of Korea classifies industrial designs into examined-based and unexamined-based articles. For design application and registration under the DPA, applicable product for the design needs to be chosen in order for it to be registered. Clothing and personal belongings under class B in the classification list are subject to unexamined-based articles. A sound and logical classification system will lead to higher administrative efficiency as well as assurance of more convenience for the system users. This paper examines the suitability of the design classification for clothing and personal belongings and purposes to suggest improvements.

  • Silicon wafer is one of main materials in solar cell. Micro-cracks in silicon wafer are one of reasons to decrease efficiency of energy transformation. They couldn't be observed by human eye. Also, their shape is not only various but also complicated. Accordingly, their shape classification is absolutely needed for manufacturing process quality and its feedback. The performance of typical classification techniques which is principal component analysis(PCA), neural network, fusion model to integrate PCA with neural network, and support vector machine(SVM), are evaluated using pattern features of micro-cracks. As a result, it has been confirmed that the SVM gives good results in micro-crack classification.

Facial Expression Classification Using Deep Convolutional Neural Network

  • In this paper, we propose facial expression recognition using CNN (Convolutional Neural Network), one of the deep learning technologies. The proposed structure has general classification performance for any environment or subject. For this purpose, we collect a variety of databases and organize the database into six expression classes such as 'expressionless', 'happy', 'sad', 'angry', 'surprised' and 'disgusted'. Pre-processing and data augmentation techniques are applied to improve training efficiency and classification performance. In the existing CNN structure, the optimal structure that best expresses the features of six facial expressions is found by adjusting the number of feature maps of the convolutional layer and the number of nodes of fully-connected layer. The experimental results show good classification performance compared to the state-of-the-arts in experiments of the cross validation and the cross database. Also, compared to other conventional models, it is confirmed that the proposed structure is superior in classification performance with less execution time.

  • This paper reports the RFC(Recursive Flow Classification) algorithm that is available on multiple fields. It is easy to be implemented by both software and hardware. For high speed classification of packets, the implementation of RFC is essential by hardware. Hence, in this paper, RFC algorithm is simulated by Verilog-HDL, and it verify the efficiency of the algorithm. The result shows that the algorithm can perform a packet classification within several cycles. It is not only much faster than software implementation but also enough to support OC192c.

  • To solve the challenge of waste plastics, this study investigated the related technologies and company trends along the plastic life cycle, and primarily describes ICT technologies to improve efficiency in the process of sorting and sorting waste plastics. Waste plastic discharge caused by the explosive increase in parcel traffic because of COVID-19 is also growing exponentially. Hence, waste treatment is emerging as a social challenge. Most of the domestic waste classification depends on the manual process according to the waste pollution level. The plastic material classification approach using the spectroscopy approach reveals a high error in the contaminated waste plastic classification, but if the Artificial Intelligence-based image classification technology is employed together, the classification precision can be enhanced because of the type of waste plastic product and the contaminated part can be differentiated.
