Korean Classical Music, as the abbreviated wording for 'Korean Music', is being used as the indicating phraseology for our traditional music that distinguishing from Western Music, the foreign music or foreign-styled popular music. Since such Korean Classical Music has the different acoustic characteristics from Western Music, it needs its own performance space for the special exclusive-use of Korean Classical Music. Likewise, even though the demand for the performance space of special exclusive-use for Korean Classical Music where Korean Classical Music is rendering, is on increasing tendency due to the increase of national concern about traditional culture art, since it is being planned without any concrete standard or method that gratifies the supreme listening condition, it is the real situation that a securement of the satisfying acoustic condition is very difficult, after the completion of construction. On such viewpoint, in order to evaluate the acoustic characteristics of the performance space of special exclusive-use for Korean Classical Music, based on the subjective response which reflects human being's psychological attribute at first, this Study has attempted to extract the proper evaluation vocabulary for appraisement on Korean Classical Music. The abstracted vocabulary in such way would be used significantly for Subjective Response Evaluation in order for the evaluation on the Acoustic Characteristics of the performance space of special exclusive-use for Korean Classical Music.

Purpose: The feasibility and differential effects of two music therapy methods (interventions with preferred music vs. classical relaxation music) were done to examine the effects on agitation and anxiety in patients weaning off mechanical ventilation. Methods: This pilot study was conducted using a crossover design. Six patients listened to preferred music choices and classical relaxation music. Anxiety scores were measured using the Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and visual analog scale (VAS). Results: Patients showed a significant decrease in agitation and anxiety after both the preferred and classical relaxation music interventions. The difference in the effects of preferred music and that of classical relaxation music was not significant. As for feasibility, patients exhibited a change in agitated behaviors after the music interventions by not trying to take off medical devices and quietly listening to the music, and by smiling and moving lips along with the lyrics while listening. Conclusion: Music interventions which centered on either patients' preferences or classical relaxation music to enhance relaxation, helped reduce agitation and anxiety during the mechanical ventilation weaning process.

This study conducted an exploratory empirical analysis on the factors affecting the performance of digital classical music based on signaling theory. For this purpose, using the classical weekly chart provided by the music platform Genie, 297 digital music sources that entered the top 100 chart from March 2020 to October 2020 (35 weeks). In this study, as signals that can influence consumers' choice to listen to classical nusic, we set an the artist's award history, artist's broadcast content linkage, taking the top spot in the first classical music chart entry, producing companies' competency, and the popularity of classical music repertoire. The effect of these signals on the chart success of digital classical music was verified subsequently. As a result of the verification, it was found that the artist's broadcast content linkage, taking the top spot in the first classical music chart entry, and the popularity of the classical music repertoire indeed had a positive effect on the chart success of a classical music. On the other hand, the artist's award history and the producing companies' competence did not significantly affect the chart success of digital classical music. This study is the first empirical study on the success factors of digital classical music performed from a business perspective, and is expected to contribute to subsequent studies related to classical music.

The study examined a sentiment analysis based on Tweeter messages between contemporary pop musicians and classical music composers. Musicians of each genre were carefully selected for the sentiment analysis. Many opinion messages on Tweets that users have discussed were collected, and the messages were evaluated by using Naïve Bayes Classifier. The results demonstrated that users showed high positive sentiments for the two different genres. However, on average, the positive sentiment values for classical music composers are higher than for contemporary pop musicians. In addition, the rankings of the highest positive sentiments among contemporary pop musicians and classical music composers did not coincide with the popularity of the two different genres of musicians. This study will contribute to the study of future sentimental analysis between music and musicians.

This study proposed the design development of performance uniform for Korean classical music. To do this, we considered the state of the performance uniform of the Korean Classical Music Band through photographic data. The research targeted the performers in Korean Classical Music Band, and conducted a survey for the preference of type, pattern, decoration, color and fabric materials. Based on the results, we extracted the design of performance uniform, which is suitable for the environment of Korean classical music performance and meets the substantial requirements of performers. The performance uniform that the current national or public Korean classical music bands are using, has two types: Western clothing and Hanbok. The attire is influenced by the genre of the music that they are playing because one of its main functions is to deliver the music to audience effectively. In addition, there are some differences in the uniform based on the gender, but no division in the design of clothing according to music instruments. However, the result of the survey show that there was no difference in preference by gender, but there was some difference according to the division of music instruments. On this study, we reflected this result in the design, and proposed the design of an convenient outer garment for everyone to wear in the music performance band.

In the past, musicians followed strict patterns written by composers when playing classical music. However, since the development of postmodernism, which puts an emphasis on unique individualities and various ways of thinking, following the strict patterns of classical music unquestioningly became less significant. Classical music was thought to be difficult to follow and enjoy for most people. Thus, musicians have found ways to keep the dignity of classical music but added familiarity in order to popularize arias in operas. They created classical crossover music and this type of music enabled people to enjoy easy access to classical music. However, not many studies focus on arrangement methods of changing classical music into crossover music. The goal of this study is to research on arrangement methods of crossover music based on the findings from precedent researches on operas. This study focused on analyzing musical structure including chords, rhythms and compositions of musical instruments. According to the analysis, original classical songs and popera, which is a type of crossover music, share similarities in terms of rhythms and chords. However, there are differences when it comes to compositions of musical instruments. In case of a jazz version, it uses AfroCuban rhythm as well as Bolero rhythm which is a part of ballad and jazz acoustic instruments are mainly used. Also, in order to reduce the feeling of classical music and to differentiate the jazz version from the original version, a lot of tension is used in voicing. This study can be helpful for any researches related to arrangements of classical crossover music.

The tonal music organizes the tones based on the hierarchy of the relative importance of musical tones. So listeners who are familiar with a certain musical style internalize the tonal schema of that music in mind, though they have no formal training about these organizing principles. This research examined how the western music experts who are not familiar with classical Korean music interpret classical Korean music. In the other researches about musical styles outside the western music, the superficial informations such as the distribution and the duration of tones in the experimental stimulus might be used as cues to extract the tonal schema of that music. In this study, these superficial informations were controlled in order to reduce this possibility. The results showed that the western music experts might interpret classical Korean music with the tonal schema of western music. but, thought the western music experts perceived classical Korean music on the base of the western musical framework and so their interpretation was not match with the tonal schema of classical Korean music. their interpretation was more similar to classical Korean tonal schema than the non-musicians interpretation of classical Korean music. These results suggested that the extensive experiences in a specific musical style can facilitate the listeners proper apprehension of the other musical styles.

With the development of artificial intelligence analysis methods, especially machine learning, various fields are widely expanding their application ranges. However, in the case of classical music, there still remain some difficulties in applying machine learning techniques. Genre classification or music recommendation systems generated by deep learning algorithms are actively used in general music, but not in classical music. In this paper, we attempted to classify opera among classical music. To this end, an experiment was conducted to determine which criteria are most suitable among, composer, period of composition, and emotional atmosphere, which are the basic features of music. To generate emotional labels, we adopted zero-shot classification with four basic emotions, 'happiness', 'sadness', 'anger', and 'fear.' After embedding the opera libretto with the doc2vec processing model, the optimal number of clusters is computed based on the result of the elbow method. Decided four centroids are then adopted in k-means clustering to classify unsupervised libretto datasets. We were able to get optimized clustering based on the result of adjusted rand index scores. With these results, we compared them with notated variables of music. As a result, it was confirmed that the four clusterings calculated by machine after training were most similar to the grouping result by period. Additionally, we were able to verify that the emotional similarity between composer and period did not appear significantly. At the end of the study, by knowing the period is the right criteria, we hope that it makes easier for music listeners to find music that suits their tastes.

The study focused on the printed sheet music delivering the classical music contents in the view of the media. Media scholar Marshall Mcluhan declared that the media is not just simple tool of delivery but is the main subject affecting the human perception and the content itself. The music media, sheet music invented by the development of the printing technique allowed the massive production and it generalized the classical music contents. However, the editing, the mandatory process for sheet music, created the editors who are standardizing and visualizing the music contents and until today, the sheet music delivers the editor's interpretation rather than the composer's. To prove this notion, the study will compare the manuscript and sheet music of Unaccompanied Violin Sonata no. 3 'Fugue' by J. S Bach and will discuss about the compatibility of the sheet music as the music media now.

New areas can be created by combining separate fields of study. Today, boundaries between fields are collapsing because of rapid progress in technologies, which is also the case in music. In 1969, jazz trumpeter and respected artist Miles Davis combined jazz, rock, and classical music into the fusion genre. Classical music is known to be strict, rigorous, and rigid, and it started to take a different form after experiments with musical crossovers. This study examines the potential of more diverse musical crossovers that musicians use to evolve a new genre. Several musicians in Korea have attempted musical crossovers by following global music trends. In the album, "Love and Peace," the classical music pieces "Flight of the Bumblebee" and Beethoven's "Fate" were arranged using a popular music style.
