  • Critical Experiments (CE) in science classrooms mean, tentatively, critical situations as comparable to anomalous cases in scientific revolutions where the results of science experiments in schools are unclear, differ from the theory, or students misunderstand the purpose of the experiments. The purpose of this research is to identify what CE occurred during science classes and to investigate how elementary teachers handled them. To analyze how teachers recognized and handled CE, we selected nine typical CE from the $7^{th}$ Korean science curriculum. 125 teachers were selected from 8 districts' elementary schools in a local city. A questionnaire with photos of the nine CE above-mentioned was distributed to these teachers. The focus in this research was the way that each teacher handled the CE. We discovered that there were three basic ways in which teachers handled CE. When CE occurred, 51% of elementary teachers explained the correct result of the experiment (what should have happened) to the students while 40.7% of the teachers repeated to get the correct results. The focuses of handling CE varied. 57 % of the teachers focused on the 'materials' while 30% of the teachers focused on the 'theory'. The other focus was 'thinking'. Only 7.6% of the teachers answered that they gave students a chance to think about the reasons why the CE happened. By analyzing our survey results, we could determine what each teacher did as a follow up to the CE and their focus and reasoning for handling the CE this way. When the CE happened in the science class, few handled the CE with the point of view about purpose of doing experiment. As a result, students could not gain educational experience from the CE. If we use CE as a new method to teach science, it will be a good subject incorporating the nature of science in science education.

  • A web page was developed to enhance students' learning experience in studying meteorological phenomena. After collecting the meteorological elements observed with automatic weather observation system (AWS), it serve real-time meteorological information on demand. Past meteorological information as well as real-time current information can be retrieved because the web page can save and accumulate observed information in its data base. The completed web page was successfully applied in school settings in teaching students meteorology research sections of earth science. The results show that students experienced authentic and meaningful learning through the real-time meteorological information from the web page. In addition, large scale of time was required to observe meteorological phenomena and it hindered practical meteorological research in earth science classes. However, it is expected that the time limitation can be overcome by utilizing accumulated meteorological information of the web page.

  • In wireless mobile environments, large bandwidth and high QoS (Quality of Service) are recently required to support the increased demands for multimedia services. LTE (Long Term Evolution) is one of the promising solutions for the next generation broadband wireless access systems. To efficiently use downlink resource and effectively support QoS, packet scheduling algorithm is one of the important features in LTE system. In this paper, we proposed DAPS (Delay-Aware Packet Scheduling) algorithm to consider QoS requirements of delays for various traffic classes as well as channel condition and fairness. To reflect delay experiences at scheduling instance, DAPS observes how queue waiting time of packet is closed to maximum allowable delay. The simulation results show that the DAPS algorithm yields better performance for delay experience by increasing the number of transmitted packets with satisfying the required delay time compared with existing scheduling algorithms.

  • The purpose of this research was to examine the attitudes and behavior of physical therapy students toward the disabled. The subjects were 776 students at 6 cities and provinces nationwide with physical therapy. Self-reported questionnaires were used to collect data from 800, and 776 returned forms was analyzed using SPSS 21.0 ver. As a summary of the results, first, there was a more positive significant difference in the behavior toward disabilities in men than women; the higher grade they were, the more negative the significant difference in attitude toward the disabilities. Second, the subjects with disabled family members or friends had a positive attitude and behavior. Third, there was no difference as to whether to take classes related to disabilities, and there was a positive significant difference in the students who took voluntary service. Based on these results, interactions with disabled people affect the positive attitudes and behaviors toward disabilities. In addition, implications of the important roles of education curricula to take direct experience are suggested.

  • In general, teachers' perceptions on the physical environment of elementary school are related on the quality of education and school life. But, we don't have study what teachers think of their enviroment of school. This study analyzed elementary school teachers' satisfaction with overall physical environment and their assessment of spaces with specific functions in order to understand teachers' perception of the physical environment of elementary schools. A survey questionnaire was administered to 982 homeroom teachers working at 67 elementary schools located in Seoul and Busan. Teachers' satisfaction with physical environment of school and their assessment were analyzed comparatively according to the teachers' personal attributes and school conditions. 1) Most of the surveyed teachers were satisfied with overall physical environment of the school, and assessed high the substantiality of functional spaces indoor and outdoor. By sub-factor, however, their satisfaction with work environment was lower than that with education and living environment. 2) The teachers perceived that the optimal number of classes was 30~36, and this is probably because they were relatively accustomed to large scale schools. 3) As might be expected, negative assessments were more frequent among teachers working at a large-scale school, an old school, or a school with small outdoor spaces. The results of this study show that, though partially different according to region, gender, teaching experience and school condition, teachers' satisfaction with school environment was relatively high. This suggests that elementary school teachers perceive their current school environment positively. Because they are accustomed to traditional education methods that have been maintained.

  • There seems to be a public consensus that the content of Korean mathematics textbooks is extensive and of a high level of difficulty. However, such judgment is the result of a generalization based on individual experience or on the results from comparisons of the international levels of achievement. Therefore, a more objective and stricter approach to the determination of the quantity and level of difficulty of mathematics content is necessary. For this purpose, this study has compared the content of Koreas 6th and 7th junior high school curriculums, and the Korean mathematics curriculum to textbooks of the United States, which has a considerable influence on the making of Korean mathematics textbooks. First of all, a comparison of Koreas 6th and 7th junior high school mathematics curriculums showed a slight reduction in the total quantity of content, as more content was deleted than was added in the 7th curriculum. However, given the fact that the number of hours of mathematics classes has been reduced, the reduction in content cannot be regarded as anything more than a simple reflection of the reduction in hours, proving that the 7th curriculum has not met its revision objective of reducing the content by 30%. Meanwhile, the comparison of the United States junior high school mathematics textbooks to Korea's 7th curriculum showed that the 7th grade content in the United States was much broader, encompassing content which in Korea ranged from the 2nd grade of elementary school to the 2nd year of junior high school. Therefore, on the surface, it may appear that the overall level of content in the American mathematics textbook is lower than that of the Korean. However, there are several cafes, such as statistics and probability, where certain content was more difficult and introduced at an earlier grade in the United States than in Korea. In fact, it can be said that Korea students tend to find content of the mathematics textbooks to be harder than they actually are because they are delivered as a mere aggregate of algorithms, with little consideration to its application in their everyday lives. In this respect, there is much room for improvement on the mathematics textbooks of Korea.

  • Cost Estimate for alternative in design phase of construction become criterion for profitability and feasibility analysis of projects. Initial design phase performed schematic estimate based on similar data in the past. The quantity take-off according to estimators experience and calculation method are occurred different or missing. IT (Information Technology) technology evolution has been promoting BIM technology in construction. It is changing the paradigm of planning, design, construction and maintenance phase throughout the construction project. A number of studies have been attempted to apply BIM technology in the construction. In this paper, we propose schematic estimation framework linking standard format IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) and estimate related knowledge. As a result, it performs a cost prediction for decision-making in the design phase, and expected to overcome the limitations of previous studies. In addition, it is possible actively coping with changes.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the meaning of the extracurricular activities in the early childhood education institutions because the discussions and the discrepancy between theoretical viewpoint and reality are gradually expanded. For this purpose, the classes of three early childhood education institutes were observed, and interviews with the instructors were conducted where extracurricular activities programs were implemented. The meanings of extracurricular activities in the early childhood education institutes were 'coexistence of newness and pleasure', 'meaning as learning', 'diverse teaching media experience' and 'inevitable limit' in the reality of formal lessons and other situations. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to make comprehensive and complementary approaches between the formal curriculum and extracurricular activities for the future high quality extracurricular activity education. Continuous training and education of the instructor are required for better extracurricular activities.
