Analysis for the Residual Stress by Cold Expansion Method and Interference Fit (흘확장법과 억지끼워맞춤에 의한 잔류응력 해석)

  • The purpose of this study is comparing cold expansion method with interference fit. Cold expansion method and interference fit of fastener hole is using in the aerospace industry. These treatment lead to an improvement of fatigue life to the compressive residual stresses developed on the hole surface. But Research is nothing to about difference effect of between cold expansion method and interference fit. So, this paper, it is shown that Comparing cold expansion method with interference fit using the finite element method. It is further shown that residual stress distribution according to plate thickness and clamping force.

Tie-bar Elongation Evaluation of Toggle Type Injection Molding Machine (토글식 사출성형기의 타이바 연신율 평가)

  • This paper studies the relation between the deformation of platen caused by clamping force, the bending stress and elongation at the tie-bar in injection molding machine of toggle type. These data are analyzed through analytical molding and numerical approach by tensile tester. The effect of bending stress on the stress concentration of teeth and nut system is also analyzed by 2 dimensional numerical approach. The bending stress of tie-bar caused by platen deformation becomes less than 20% of average tensile stress. And the effect of bending stress on stress concentration at teeth and nut system of tie-bar is found to be small.

  • Inner part is used as an insulator in wire fuses. After injection molding, inner part has been showed flashes, filling defects and deformation. After production, operators have to cut off flashes, one by one. this process leads to continuous low productivity and loss of source materials. This study focuses on identifying the causes for flashes, filling defects, clamping force of injectors, mold adhesion, resin of liquidity and others, and on resolving those issues.

Development of High Precision Actuator for Micro Press System by Inchworm Motor (인치웜모터를 이용한 마이크로 프레스용 고정밀 구동기의 개발)

  • This paper presents the fabrication of inchworm motor for high precision actuator system of large displacement and high force. The inchworm motor consists of a extend actuator that provides displacement of tool guide and two clamping actuators which provide the holding force. In order to avoid the PZT fracture, design of pre-load housing was conducted by flexure hinge structure, because PZT actuator has low tensile and shear. To design the pre-load housing and optimize the clamping mechanism, the static and dynamic analysis were conducted by finite element method. From these results, a prototype of the inchworm motor was fabricated and dynamic characteristic with respect to the various frequency was tested. The maximum velocity of the inchworm motor was $41.1{\mu}m/s$ at 16Hz.

  • The role of disk clamp is to fasten disks to motor and to prevent the slip of disks during operation. This paper examined the effects of the design parameters of disk clamp - thickness, contact radius and cross-sectional shape -on the clamping force and circumferential stress distribution of disk. The large stress variation in circumferential direction results in large disk waveness and will increase repeatable run-out (RRO) finally. The disk clamp-disk-disk spacer system is modeled and the FE analysis is performed by ANSYS. The disk clamp with large contact radius shows more uniform stress distribution than the one with small contact radius and the stiffness variation around circumferential direct ion or the addition of the bending sect ion can make stress distribution uniform.

  • For the bolted joint of the composite structure, quasi-isotropic stacking is generally used to increase the bearing strength. For the bolted joint of uni-directional composite, the fatigue life limit of the bolted joint can be improved by applying clamping force though the static strength is still very low. In this paper, the static and fatigue characteristics of hybrid joint are investigated which can overcome the disadvantage of the bolted joint of uni-directional composite under static loading by applying adhesive joining. The experimental result shows that the static strength and fatigue life can be improved by applying clamping force to the hybrid joint and the hybrid joint is a good solution for the efficiency of the composite structures.

  • In the hydroforming process the number of process can be reduced by combining pre-forming process and post-forming process such as the bending, piercing and the embedding process. Integrated studies on the embedding manufacturing technology have been performed by analyzing the deformed mode of the tubes and the optimal process parameters. In this study, a simulation model that can prove clamping force between the clamping element and tube has been investigated by FEM. The characteristics of the embedded parts, such as the shape of the screw tip, screw thread and shape of thread were investigated at various clamping element conditions.

  • It is very important to connect machinery and maintain it. This is usually done by bolt joint. There are two ways in connecting the bolt joint : the angle method and the torque method. The torque method is a method that let the clamping force maintain. The underhead of the bolt's head and the thread friction are the main influences. This study focuses on how the clamping farce and friction coefficient change under the condition in vibrating the underhead of the bolt's head part. As a result, under vibration condition, we found out that the clamping farce increases, while the friction coefficient decreases.

  • In general, inchworm actuators are composed of two clamping piezoelectric elements and one expansion piezoelectric element. In this paper, two electromagnetic clampers are used for higher speed and high load. Dynamic equation is derived to simulate the behavior of the inchworm actuator with electromagnets. Electromagnetic clamper is used to improve the performance of the inchworm actuator. The electromagnetic clamper is composed of two permanent magnets and one traditional electromagnet. The permanent magnets play the role of the source of magnetic field to make clamping force higher, and the electromagnet is to change the mode between clamping and free. The driving voltage profile is also analyzed to improve the speed of inchworm actuator. The real system was manufactured and experimented to find dynamic characteristics and the maximum speed is obtained. Dynamic model is verified by comparing with experimental results.

  • In these day, micro systems have gained attention with development of advance technologies. Researches about the fabrication of micro parts are actively made in the whole world. Among the researches, technology for micro injection molding machine is one of the key issues for fabrication of micro parts. In this study, we developed a micro injection molding machine for micro parts. To achieve this, injection unit was constructed using a screw with diameter of 12 mm. Clamping unit with clamping force of 1.75 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ was constructed. Also verification test fur fabrication of micro parts was performed. It was performed that the micro injection molding machine can fabricate micro parts based on the result.
