The soil on the behavior of the nonlinear elastic work-hardening plasticity has a variety of stress paths due to the state of soil and the test conditions. The soil with a specific volume ${\upsilon}$ in principal stress space (${\sigma}_1$, ${\sigma}_2$, ${\sigma}_3$, and ${\upsilon}$v) displays the shape of an irregular hexagonal pyramid with an end cap. With variations of ${\upsilon}$ the size of the cap is changed but its shape remains unchanged and the movement of the cap is controlled by the increase or decrease of the plastic volumetric strain. By reflecting such a property of soil various cap models have been developed by researchers. In this thesis, a constitutive model of soil with a combination of the nonlinear elastic work-hardening plastic cap and the failure surfaces of Mohr-Coulomb (M-C cap model) has been developed. According to the the results of analyses using the work-hardening plastic cap model, the normally consolidated soil under shearing has experienced the work-hardening and plastic flow (movement of the cap). But in the shearing of the overconsolidated soil the elastic behavior is shown until the stress path has reached the failure surface and the cap does not move.

The subway is the transportation means most commonly used by the citizens of the metropolitan area along with the buses in the metropolitan area and major metropolitan municipalities. However, satisfaction with the signboards is low and the signboards need to be improved. In this study, we investigated the problem of guide signs of city hall and exchange area with L - shaped history structure for guide signs affecting route finding. As a result, it is necessary to confirm whether the moving distance is long and moving accurately to the desired destination due to the L - shaped historical structure in both the station and the alternate area. In both stations, the number of the guide signs, Problems such as installation position, height, other. In this study, the movement within the subway station is classified according to the space. The type of guide sign installation was defined, and the specific principles for guiding the movement route were proposed. This research is expected to be useful as an important basic data for the types and layout of subway stations.
This paper deals with development of a damage risk assessment system for adjacent buildings to under-passing tunnel face considering 3D-ground movement. The system consists of building and ground information module, monitoring data module, settlement evaluation module, and building damage risk assessment module. The major modules, settlement evaluation module and building damage assessment module, are based on settlement estimation model suggested by Attewell et al (1982) and the building damage assessment method by Mair et al. (1996). After estimating 3D-ground movements due to tunneling with settlement evaluation module, damage assessment far buildings is performed using building damage risk assessment module. The developed system has two major functions; 1) calculation of 3D-settlement with ground loss ($V_{s}$)or maximum settlement ($w_{max}$) and inflection point (i) using various empirical formulae, monitoring data, numerical results, and so on; 2) assessment of damage risk for adjacent buildings of arbitrary section with position change of tunnel face. The field data given by Boscadin and Cording (1989) leer the case of two-storied masonry building near the Metro tunnel in Washington D.C. was simulated to verify the applicability of the developed system.
This experiment did comparison and analysis that protected soil particle migration have affect on function of the filter and therefore fall function of the filter. Results obtained are as follows: 1.High water head makes to be much movement of fine sand and out flow of particle to the outside. The filter have large opening size that reached stability an early stage, but much fine sand is washed away. If the velocity turns fast and becomes small, blocking phenomenon is remarkable nearby the filter-sand interface. 2. The movement of fine sand that effect on function of filter depend on opening size and change of water head. Under the same condition, USCE filter and USSPL filter is reached earlier than other filter that is stability of stage, because it's opening size is large. 3. Residual quantity of fine sand migration was largly come out in order of USSPL, USCE, USBR, Newton & Hurley, Bertram filter. 4. The time required to stability of flow was taken less in order of Bertram, Newton & Hurley, USBR, USSPL, USCE filter and coefficient of permeability was highly come out in order of USBR, Bertram, Newton & Hurley, USSPL, USCE filter. 5. It proved that USCE and USSPL is suitable for the filter criteria.
Wetlands that provide diverse ecosystem services, such as habitat provision and hydrological control of flora and fauna, constitute ecosystems through interaction between wetlands existing in a wetlandscape. Therefore, to evaluate the wetland functions such as resilience, it is necessary to analyze the ecological connectivity that is formed between wetlands which also show hydrologically dynamic behaviors. In this study, by defining wetlands as ecological nodes, we generated ecological networks through the connection of wetlands according to the dispersal model of wetland species. The characteristics of these networks were then analyzed using various network metrics. In the case of the dispersal based on a threshold distance, while a high local clustering is observed compared to the exponential dispersal kernel and heavy-tailed dispersal model, it showed a low efficiency in the movement between wetlands. On the other hand, in the case of the stochastic dispersion model, a low local clustering with high efficiency in the movement was observed. Our results confirmed that the ecological network characteristics are completely different depending on which dispersal model is chosen, and one should be careful on selecting the appropriate model for identifying network properties which highly affect the interpretation of network structure and function.

This study grasped the relationship between relative humidity in concrete and concrete shrinkage followed by pre-absorbed water of porous lightweight aggregates through measurements of concrete shrinkage and humidity and comparisons with established research results. It was showed that shrinkage reduction effect of lightweight concrete is 36% at 7 days early ages and 25% at 180 days long-term ages when water-binder ratio is 0.3. It also showed that shrinkage reduction effect is 19% at 7 days and 16% at 180 days when water-binder ratio is 0.4 and 37%, 32% when water-binder ratio is 0.5. The moisture supply effect of lightweight aggregates was remarkable at early age within 7~10 days irrespective of water-binder ratio. In case of waterbinder ratio is 0.3, the relationship between shrinkage and internal humidity of concrete has been underestimated regardless of applied existing model type and in case of water-binder ratio is 0.4, 0.5, measurement values are relatively similar with existing model equations. Finally this study did regression analyses about the relation among the humidity change and the shrinkage strain as a high-degree polynomial and derived parameters that can connect moisture movement analysis with differential shrinkage analysis in case of considering relative humidity at the time by moisture movement analysis of concrete.
The evaluation of passive earth pressure plays a crucial role in the design of earth-retaining structures such as retaining walls and temporary earth-retaining walls to withstand horizontal earth pressure. In the earth pressure theory, active and passive earth pressures represent the earth pressures at the limit state, where the wall displacement reaches the maximum allowed displacement. In the design of earth-retaining structures, the passive earth pressure is considered as the resisting force. In this context, the limit displacement at which passive earth pressure occurs is significantly greater than that associated with the active earth pressure. Therefore, it is irrational to apply this displacement directly to the calculation of passive earth pressure. Instead, it is necessary to consider the mobilized passive earth pressure exerted at the allowable horizontal displacement to evaluate the structural stability. This study proposes an allowable wall displacement, denoted as 0.002 H (where H represents the excavation depth), based on a literature review that focuses on sandy soils. To calculate the mobilized passive earth pressure from the wall displacement, a semi-empirical equation is proposed. By analyzing the obtained data on mobilized passive earth pressure, a reduction factor applicable to Rankine's passive earth pressure is proposed for practical application in sandy soils under different wall movement types.

In this study, to analyze travelling route and transition characteristics which is a spatial time interpretation method now actively progressed in domestic as well as abroad, it was intended to develop new drought interpretation technique which can decide the centroid and orbit of drought through assuming ellipse using Mass Moment concept. First of all, after estimating Standard Precipitation Index (SPI) per different precipitation observatory station to extract drought events, by selecting precipitation sites where drought starting and end point are same, these were categorized as CASE. As a results, with various CASE selections falling in specific duration for monthly drought analysis, it is possible to find out drought area that additionally occurred, and drought reliving process could be confirmed more definitely. Therefore, if the research methods adopted in this study for drought monitoring are utilized, not only accurate spatio-temporal drought analysis is possible, also pattern of drought centroid movement can be analyzed by establishing statistically significant spatial characteristics data after separating all the drought events that occurred sporadically in Korea Peninsula.

In the current work, a series of three-dimensional finite element analysis was carried out to understand the behaviour of pile when the tunnel passes through the lower part of a single pile or group piles. At the current study, the numerical analysis analysed the results regarding the ground reinforcement condition between the tunnel and pile foundation. In the numerical modelling, several key issues, such as the pile settlements, the axial pile forces, the shear stresses and the total displacements near the tunnel have been thoroughly analysed. The pile head settlements of the single pile with the maximum level of reinforcement decreased by about 16% compared to the pile without ground reinforcement. Furthermore, the maximum axial force of the single pile with the maximum level of ground reinforcement experienced a 30% reduction compared to the pile without reinforcement. It has been found that the angle of ground reinforcement in the transverse direction affects the pile behaviour more so than the length of the ground reinforcement in the longitudinal direction. On the other hand, in the case of the pile group with the reinforced pile cap, the ground displacement near the pile tip appears to be similar to the corresponding ground displacement without reinforcement. However, it was found that the pile cap near the pile head greatly restrained the pile head movement and hence the axial pile force increased by about 2.5 times near the pile top compared to the piles in other analysis conditions. The behaviour of the single pile and group piles, depending on the amount of ground reinforcement, has been extensively examined and analysed by considering the key features in great details.

This paper presents experimental results of a series of 1-g shaking table model tests performed on end-bearing single piles and pile groups to investigate the effect of particle size on the dynamic behavior of soil-pile systems. Two soil-pile models consisting of a single-pile and a $4{\times}2$-pile group were tested twice; first using Jumoonjin sand, and second using Australian Fine sand, which has a smaller particle size. In the case of single-pile models, the lateral displacement was almost within 1% of pile diameter which corresponds to the elastic range of the pile. The back-calculated p-y curves show that the subgrade reaction of the Jumoonjin-sand-model ground was larger than that of the Australian Fine-sand-model ground at the same displacement. This phenomenon means that the stress-strain behavior of Jumoonjin sand was initially stiffer than that of Australian Fine sand. This difference was also confirmed by resonant column tests and compression triaxial tests. And the single pile p-y backbone curves of the Australian fine sand were constructed and compared with those of the Jumoonjin sand. As a result, the stiffness of the p-y backbone curves of Jumunjin sand was larger than those of Australian fine sand. Therefore, using the same p-y curves regardless of particle size can lead to inaccurate results when evaluating dynamic behavior of soil-pile system. In the case of the group-pile models, the lateral displacement was much larger than the elastic range of pile movement at the same test conditions in the single-pile models. The back-calculated p-y curves in the case of group pile models were very similar in both sands because the stiffness difference between the Jumoonjin-sand-model ground and the Australian Fine-sand-model ground was not significantly large at a large strain level, where both sands showed non-linear behavior. According to a series of single pile and group pile test results, the evaluation group pile effect using the p-multiplier can lead to inaccurate results on dynamic behavior of soil-pile system.
