  • About 70% of energy input to internal combustion engine is rejected to atmosphere by heat. By utilizing this waste heat, a plenty of energy can be conserved in nationwide. One of possible ways is the thermoelectric generation to utilize engine's waste heat to provide auxiliary electric power. Under th is concept, we have been developing the thermoelectric generation system to replace the alternator by converting the waste heat in the engine's exhaust directly to electricity This system may reduce the shaft horse power of the engine, then improves the vehicle fuel economy and the exhaust emissions. In the present study, the characteristics of the electric energy and exhaust heal energy in city and highway mode driving conditions are analysed by using a gasoline passenger car. These results would be used to determine the optimum design parameters of the thermoelectric generation system.

Development of Drainage Asphalt Mixture Using Large Size Aggregate and Its Performance on Test Pavement

  • Recently, there has been a remarkable trend of using aggregates at sizes smaller than 13 mm for drainage asphalt pavement (DAP) in order to reduce the noise generated between vehicle tires and road surface. These DAPs have their performance and durability seriously worsen after several years in-service due to the clogging of void space and the abrasion. This paper proposes the use of large size aggregates in porous asphalt mixtures to overcome these defects. Results of laboratory and field experiments on asphalt mixtures with several aggregate gradations are investigated and compared. The study focuses on advantages of DAP using large size aggregate and on particle size combinations containing no fine aggregates of size 2.36 mm or less, which have not been considered in current engineering practice.

  • 도로교통소음은 많은 지역에 산재해 있으며 특히 주도로변에 거주하는 사람들에게 환경과 관련하여 매우 중요하다. 도로교통으로부터 소음수준을 계산하는데 몇가지 다른 방법들이 이용되고 있다. 이 방법들은 계산방법과 그래프식 그리고 컴퓨터 모델링 기술 등이다. 교통과 교통소음의 영향으로부터 소음을 계산하는 간단한 기술의 예측방법은 여기에 나타내었다. 이 TNS (traffic Noise Screening) 방법은 서로 다른 도로유형에 대한 일련의 도로교통소음레벨의 예측그래프로 전개된 것이다. 이 그래프는 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) STAMINA 2.0을 이용하여 다양한 시나리오에 대한 소음 예측모델을 계산한 결과를 기초하였다. TNS에 도로의 기하학적 형태, 교통량 주행속도 그리고 도로중앙선의 거리등의 데이터를 입력시킨다. TNS 그래프는 소음영향과 연관된 교통소음예측에서 사용하는 경우 교통소음레벨의 계산을 쉽게 한다. 이 TNS 방법은 STAMINA 2.0과 같은 상세 모델링을 대신하지는 못하지만 상세 모델을 필요로 할 때 도움을 주는 도구이다 만약 소음계산들이 중요하거나 또는 시나리오가 보다 복잡하고 부가된다면 보다 상세한 모델링이 수행되어져 스크린 결과들이 나타난다.

  • In the recent day, fatigue life prediction techniques play a major role in the design of components in the ground vehicle industry. Full scale durability testing in the laboratory is an essential of any fatigue life evaluation of components or structures of the automotwe vehicle. Component testing is part~cularly important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, multi-axial road simulator is used to carry out the fatigue test and the vibration test. In this paper, the algorithm and software to realize the real road profile are developed. The validity of the software are verified by applying the belgian road, the city road, the highway, and the gravel road. The results of the above experiment show that the real road profiles are realized well after loth iteration.

화성 둔대리의 고려전기 생활유구에서 출토된 숯과 목재의 수종 (Charcoal and Woods Excavated From Tuntaeri, Hwasung, Korea(Early Koryo period))

  • This study was carried out to Identify wood and charcoal segments, which were excavated in 1994 at the Seohaean highway construction site along the western coast of Korea ; Tuntaeri, Hwasunggun. We identified the objects excavated at the fire places of the Tuntaeri dwelling sites (early Koryo period ; A. D. $11\~12C$) ; charcoal pieces and 1 wood segment, which was used for the handle of a metal hook. Chestnut(Castanea crenata), deciduous oaks(Quercus spp.) and maple(Acer app.) were identified from the charcoals, whereas the wood segment as willow species(Salix spp.). These species seem to represent warm and wet climate in the middlewest Korea during $11\~12C$.

  • By investigating various information promotion plans by Taegu Metropolitan City Government, Kyungbuk Provincial Government or by the ministry of Agricultural, Forestry, and Fishery Affairs, this paper intends to analyze current trends of information approached from wider perspective, and to propose multi-layered alternatives which improve informatization promulgation in rural areas of Taegu, Kyungbuk areas. This research proposes following 6 alternatives, as informatization strategies to develop rural economics ; (1) construction of Agricultural Techno Park to advance and develop informatization in rural areas, (2) construction of communication super highway to strengthen information infrastructure, (3) construction of region-specific information system to provide agricultural information unique to its region or areas, (4) provision of agriculture-related information by establishing regional information centers separated by regions like North, South, Eastern regions etc., (5) establishment information, (6) establishment of information gallery of village to provide information needed. And this research also investigates specific contents progresses of various plans by various actors.

Methods for Revitalization of a Region through Landscape Improvement Using Traditional Local Products

  • I have analyzed four methods for revitalizing the Ibi district, a local community in Minami Awaji City in Hyogo Prefecture, using Awaji tile, a traditional product. The first analysis is of a workshop to think about the revitalization of the community using Awaji tile. The second is an evaluation of using Awaji tile in the construction of green spaces and the renewal of existing buildings. The third analysis is on the distribution of terracotta for plants to all the residents of this district and the construction of art objects using Awaji tile at the seashore and by the entrance area of a highway interchange. The fourth analysis is of the results of information sharing by a newsletter and a website. Finally, I gave questionnaires to workshop participants. As a result, visible, completed products of these efforts were evaluated positively, but more effort is required related to the newsletter and website. Overall, I could verify the compounded possibilities for revitalization of the community using Awaji tile as promoting regional industry, activating the community, and improving the landscape.

소음저감장치의 도로변 설치 효과 분석 (Noise Reducers Effect on Road Traffic Noise)

  • Community noise has been great concerned in public. The traffic noise in seoul, especially has been growing awareness for the quiet living environment. In this paper, the effect on the noise barrier in order to reduce highway noise near on the street has been examined. First barriers have been evaluated at 5 locations in the city. The evaluation is performed before and after construction, with the reference point which does not affected on road traffic volume. Then, noise reducers mounted on the harriers also have been examined. the result shows that it reduces noise level by $3{\sim}3.5dB(A)$ with a standard deviation of 2.8 dB(A).

고속도로 영업소 토지이용에서의 비점오염원 원단위 산정 (Determination of Nonpoint pollutant Unit Loads in Toll-gate of Highway)

  • 토지이용의 고도화는 다양한 비점오염물질의 축적을 야기하며 강우 시 유역에 존재하는 수계로 유출되어 수생태계에 악영향을 끼치게 된다. 현재 환경부는 이러한 비점오염물질의 유출을 저감하기 위하여 다양한 토지이용별 비점오염물질 유출원단위를 제정하여 유역관리에 적용하고 있다. 그러나, 현재 적용되고 있는 토지이용별 원단위는 논, 밭, 대지, 목장, 임야, 골프장 및 기타와 같이 7개로 분류하고 있다. 이러한 원인으로 인하여 실제로 비점오염물질의 유출이 매우 높은 상업지역, 주거지역, 도로, 고속도로, 주차장, 산업지역, 공공지역 등과 같은 토지이용에 대하여 명확한 토지이용별 유출원단위를 제시하지 못하여 수질오염총량관리제 시행에 큰 애로사항으로 남아있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 포장지역중 불투수율이 높은 고속도로 영업소 지역의 토지 이용에 대하여 2006부터 2007년까지 약 2년에 걸친 모니터링 자료를 활용하여, 비점오염 저감시설 설치와 계획수립 시 적합한 원단위를 제시하고자 한다.

기상조건과 입지특성이 공공자전거 이용에 미치는 영향 분석 (Impact Analysis of Weather Condition and Locational Characteristics on the Usage of Public Bike Sharing System)

  • 본 연구는 효율적인 공공자전거 도입과 운영을 위하여 기상조건과 스테이션 입지특성이 공공자전거 수요 및 이용패턴에 영향을 파악하고자 고양시 공공자전거 대여자료를 가지고 선형회귀분석방법을 통해 시간대별 대여량 모형을 구축하였다. 기상조건에 따른 영향은 평균 기온이 상승할수록 대여량이 늘어나는 것으로 분석되었으며, 강수량이 10mm 이상 되거나, 평균기온이 29도 이상으로 높아지는 경우, 풍속이 7m/s 이상 되는 경우에 대여량이 떨어지는 것으로 분석되었다. 입지특성에 따른 영향은 새벽시간대는 유흥가가 위치한 중심상업지역이, 낮 시간대에는 공원지역과 중심 및 일반상업 지역의 대여량이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 하교시간대는 학교인근 스테이션의 대여량이 증가하고, 퇴근시간대는 지하철역 인근의 대여량이 두드러지게 높아진다. 심야시간대에는 공원지역에서의 대여량이 두드러졌다.
