Water Supply and Samurai Residence in the Castle Towns during the Edo Period: The Creation of the Modern Urban Dwellers

  • This article analyzes the publicness of early modern cities and the character of samurai residences as urban dwellers through the water supply and use of the Edo period in Japan. Firstly, in Edo, a megacity with a population of about one million, the Shogunate organized samurai residences (mainly those of feudal lords, Daimyo) into geographical organizations, and samurai residences paid for the repair of water facility and the water fee, just the same as the townspeople. Next, in Fukui (provincial castle town), samurai residence (Daimyo's vassal) organization for waterway didn't exist. The samurai residences were relieved of the burden of maintaining the waterways due to poverty. And, before the later Edo period, samurai vassals were not punished for violating the rules on water use, but they were eventually included in the punishment. The gap in feudal status between samurai and townspeople narrowed. It was a process of creating a modern urban society composed of equal dwellers. Although Edo and Fukui belonged to the same category as castle towns, the urban publicness and the position of samurai residences were different due to their dissimilar political positions as the Shogunate capital city and the Daimyo's provincial castle town.

우리나라에서 솔껍질깍지벌레의 분포확산 (The Spread of Black Pine Bast Scale, Matsucoccus thunbergianae (Hemiptera: Margarodidae) in Korea)

  • 솔껍질깍지벌레는 우리나라 곰솔림의 주요한 해충의 하나이다. 본 연구는 우리나라에서 솔껍질깍지벌레의 분포를 알아보기 위하여 7개도 3개 광역시, 91개 시군구, 686 읍면동의 해송림에서 2010년 밀도를 조사하였다. 5개도 2개 광역시에서 솔껍질깍지벌레가 서식하고 있었는데 시군구별로는 조사대상의 64.8%인 59개 시군구에서 서식이 확인되었다. 솔껍질깍지벌레의 분포는 남해안 전역과 동해안의 포항, 서해안의 충남 보령지역까지 분포하였다. 충북과 대전광역시 및 제주도에서는 솔껍질깍지벌레의 분포가 확인되지 않았다. 부산지역은 16곳의 모든 구에서 솔껍질깍지벌레가 분포하였고, 시군 단위에서는 전남 해남군의 솔껍질깍지벌레 평균밀도가 1.713마리/0.785 $cm^2$로 가장 높았으며 읍면동 단위에서는 해남군 송지면이 6.36마리/0.785 $cm^2$로 가장 높았다. 곰솔 가지 내의 솔껍질깍지벌레 밀도와 솔껍질깍지벌레가 서식하고 있는 빈도와는 높은 상관관계가 있었다(상관계수=0.89).

소음지도를 이용한 도로교통소음에 관한 연구 - 시화멀티테크노밸리 개발사업을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Road Traffic Noise Effect Using a Noise Map - Development of Sihwa Multi Techno Valley -)

  • Korean society is faced with various new problems arising from the development projects of new towns, industrial cities, large-scale residential complexes, etc. started from the 1970s. Particularly with the construction of residential and industrial complexes by the roadsides, they are openly exposed to road traffic noise and vibration. Thus, the objective of this study is to examine using noise maps how increasing traffic volume affects road traffic noise and what problems it causes in areas where new towns or complexes are constructed by development projects. According to the results of this study, in areas around the sites of development projects, the noise level increased by road traffic noise compared to that before development and was 1.16~6.92 times higher than the environmental noise standard, but measures to reduce road traffic noise was lukewarm. In addition, areas with soundproof facilities showed a noise level 1~3 step lower than other areas, and in individual buildings, the noise level on the side facing the road was 1~2 step higher than that on the rear side.

대규모 신도시 및 주변지역 거주환경 비교분석 연구 (Research on the Residential Environment of New Town & Surrounding Area)

  • 1990년대 초반 분당, 일산 등 5개의 수도권 1기 신도시가 개발되었다. 이들 신도시는 체계적인 도시계획과 쾌적한 주거환경으로 선호도가 높아 살고 싶은 도시로 인식되고 있다. 이들 신도시 인근에는 중소규모의 택지개발이 많이 진행되었으며, 동일 생활권을 형성하기도 하는데 이들 지역은 '신개발 밀집지역'이라 불릴 수 있다. 수도권에서 이처럼 신개발이 집적된 대표적인 지역이 경부고속도로축에 입지한 분당과 용인서북부 지역이다. 이 지역은 2005년 현재 거주인구가 100만을 상회하는 대규모 생활권을 형성하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 분당-용인서북부 지역의 거주환경 비교분석을 통해 연속적인 중소규모 택지개발의 문제점을 파악하고 향후 신도시개발 및 주변지역 도시관리의 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

원산거류지(元山居留地)의 도시공간(都市空間)의 형성과정(形成過程)에 관한 고찰(考察) (A Study On the Process of the Urban Form in Wonsan Concession)

  • This paper is one of Korean towns in the period of Korean-Modern, which play an important role in shaping the present cities of Korea. In the concrete, this study deals with the urban form of the Japanese Concession at Womsan where is the second Open Port in Korea. By the way, both of the Open Port and the Concession were the town that not exist before the period of Korean-Modern, and the town that symbolize the historical characters of the period of Korean-Modern. On this study, it is intended to analyze the situations of establishment, the process of the urban form, and the meanings of Concession, from 1880 to 1910, the period when had been kept up the nature of the Concession mainly. The Japanese Concession at Wonsan was urged it's establishment by Japan Government that is conscious of the purpose of foreign trade and military importance. But, it was slow in progress of developing town because of the distance from the capital 'Han Yang', today we called it Seoul, and lack of the background towns. However, after both the wars of 1895 and 1904, Japanese residents were incresed and urban aspects were advanced. The urban form of Japanese Concession was devided two territories by the natural circumstances, so that was made a difference on the period of the development. And finally, it had double axis on the form of district. Furthermore, by increasing of residence, it was occured that new Japanese resident arwa was occupied and expanded illegally between the road which is toward the existing Korean village 'Womsan-Jin(元山津)'. This indeed is the illegal extension of the Japanese Concession at Wonsan. Conclusively, Concession fumed out the primary factor that Korean towns are altered with the heterogeneous ones in the period of Korean-Modern.

한국 초등학생들의 스트레스 대응 행동에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Stress Coping Behaviors of Elementary Students in Korea)

  • 목적: 본 연구는 한국 초등학생의 스트레스 대응행동에 관련된 요인들을 알아보기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 방법: 연구대상자는 세 개 지역(대도시, 중소도시, 농촌지역)의 10개 초등학교에서 자발적으로 참여한 5, 6학년 1,161명으로 자가보고식으로 설문이 이루어졌다. 스트레스 대응 행동은 수정된 Ways of Coping Checklist를 이용하여 측정되었다. 자료는 기술적 통계, t-test, ANOVA, 상관관계 분석, 다중회귀분석을 사용하여 분석되었다. 결과: 초등학생들이 가장 빈번하게 사용하는 스트레스 대응 행동은 신비적 대응($3.01{\pm}10.6$)이었고 긍정적 대응($2.61{\pm}0.72$)과 부정적 대응($2.01{\pm}0.72$)이 그 뒤를 이었다. 대도시에 사는 여학생이 중소도시나 농촌지역에 사는 남학생들보다 더 많은 대응 행동을 사용하였고, 신비적 대응행동이 높은 학업성적과 관련이 있었던 반면 긍정적 대응행동은 높은 삶의 만족도와 관련이 있었다. 결론: 초등학생의 성별, 삶의 만족도 수준, 지역, 학업성적과 스트레스 수준이 스트레스 대응 행동에 영향을 주었다. 또한 대응 행동의 종류에 따라 대응행동에 영향을 주는 요인들에 다소 차이를 보였다. 초등학생들이 직면하는 스트레스 상황에 대해 긍정적으로 대응할 수 있는 능력을 길러주기 위하여 대상자의 특성과 지역의 사회적, 물리적 환경을 고려한 중재프로그램 개발이 필요하다.

중국생육보험의 발달과 개혁 - 계획생육과 관련하여 - (The Development and Reformation of China Mothernity Insurance - Related to the Family Plannings -)

  • 세계 최대 인구국가인 중국은 인구문제 해결을 위해 계획생육을 기본국책으로 정하였고, 이를 사회보험인 생육보험과 연계하여 실시하고 있다. 여성의 생육가치에 대한 사회적 인정으로서 중요성을 갖는 생육보험은 그 범위가 도시지역 임금여성에게 한정되어, 도시에 살지 않고 일이 없는 여성을 제외하는 결과를 낳고 있다. 생육보험을 받기 위해 계획생육을 지켜야 하는 현재 조건은 궁극적으로 도시여성에게만 가입 유인 등 긍정적 효과를 기대할 뿐, 생육보험이 진정 필요한 농촌여성과 유동인구 여성에게 혜택을 제공하지 못한다. 따라서 이 구조는 도농분리 경제정책에서 사회보장영역인 생육보험의 지역간 격차 확대로 이어질 우려가 크다. 생육보험과 계획생육 연계는 한자녀 정책하의 도시여성에 대한 적용확대수를 늘리면서 인구규제도 가능하게 한다. 그러나 생육보험제도가 필요한 농촌과 유동인구여성은 인구규제에서 후순위임과 동시에 적용 가능성도 적다. 도시와 농촌 분리정책에서 나온 생육보험의 가입 격차를 줄이고 현재 배제된 대상에게 이 보험을 확대하기 위해서는, 중국 정부가 조화사회원칙을 강조함과 더불어 계획생육의 부정적 영향을 재고해야 한다.

지자체 온실가스 배출특성 분석연구-전라북도 14개 시·군 사례 (A Study on Greenhouse Gas Emission Characteristics for Regional Governments (A Case Study of Jeonbuk Province))

  • For each local town (6 cities and 8 counties) affiliated with Jeonbuk provincial government, characteristics of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions were analyzed and key emission areas were drawn to establish mitigation policies of the regional greenhouse gases. National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) reported that the total greenhouse gas emission of Jeonbuk was 20.93 million $tCO_2e$ in 2006. The inland area of 5 cities and 1 county (Jeonju, Gunsan, Iksan, Jungeup, Kimje, Wanju) covered 82% of total greenhouse gas emission in Jeonbuk, while the rest local towns of the province, mostly from mountainous areas were responsible for the rest of the total GHG emission. The cities and counties having relatively higher emission in Jeonbuk province were influenced dominantly by the emission from energy and waste sections. Also, agricultural section showed similar tendency except industrial cities such as Gunsan and Jeonju. In the internal portion of city and county, energy section showed the highest portion at the range of 72.1 (Sunchang)~97.0% (Jeonju) and agricultural section was at the range of 1.2% (Jeonju)~26.6 (Sunchang). When the portion of energy section was higher, the lower agricultural section. The emission index was applied to decide the key city and county and the potential city and county with two methodologies in this study. It was required that the key emission areas were drawn to establish regional greenhouse gases mitigation policies.

신도시의 경쟁력 모형 설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Establishment of New Town Competitiveness Model)

  • This study aims at understanding both the mechanism of new town's competitiveness and its normative pursuit. For the purpose the study steps as follows; (1) Defining operationally cities' competitive power by means of analytic interpretation of substantial nature involved in the preceding studies, (2) Finding some lessons for the desirable development suggested from the history of new town construction in England, France and Japan, where the spatial needs for solving urban problems were exploded after the Second World War, (3) Focusing to agendas regarding development, for example, sustainable development, (4) Recognizing differences between competitiveness of cities and that of new towns and finally (5) Building the model of new town competitiveness, which explains what makes the competitiveness and what kind of effort are necessary for acquiring the advantage. As the result of the process this study concludes that the competitiveness is caused by, or composed of 4 factors. They are Self-sufficiency, Identity, Innovativeness and Sustainability. This frame can be named SIIS-model of new town competitiveness. But there should be contingent and elastic approach in adaptation of these factors to a specific new town, considering its own goal, scale and other situation. The model established in this study is expected to be a analytical frame for the follow-up studies on finding problems and seeking directions of new town development in our country.

경관형용사를 이용한 면소재지 중심가로 이미지 분석 - 광주광역시에 인접한 10개 면소재지 중심가로를 대상으로 - (Analysis of Streetscape Image using Landscape Adjectives in Rural Town - Focused on 10 Rural Towns near Gwangju Metropolitan City -)

  • Due to the standardized urban development since the industrial era, many urban spaces have experienced non-placeness. Recently, although interest in urban landscape, history, and cultural elements has been increasing, landscape management and control measures are being implemented mainly in large cities due to the low status of rural areas in the country. From this point of view, this study tried to lay the foundation for basic research in related fields by classifying the characteristics and types of streetscapes located near large cities, and to suggest directions that should be considered when managing streetscapes in the future. As a result of the analysis of landscape adjectives, the village felt secluded due to the low density compared to the city street overall, but it did not have a unique image of the region. Three factors were derived through factor analysis, and preference was affected in the order of aesthetic, regularity, and uniqueness. In addition, the research site was classified into three types through cluster analysis, and it was confirmed that the differences by type were due to aesthetics and naturalness. On the other hand, the uniqueness is generally low in all regions, so it seems that fundamental countermeasures are needed.
