  • (1) According to the history of three kingdoms, tea was introduced to Korea at the period of Korea at the period of Sun-Duck Queen of Shilla dynasty, and Dae-Ryeom Kim, the emissary, brought tea seeds from Tang China in 828, and sowed them on Mt. Jiri by the order of the King Heung-Duck, Shila. In 1885, The Chosun government took action in transplant 6000 each of tea of tea seeding from Ch'ing. (2) Transmission of schools As for the type of tea through the history of Korea, it could be characterized as cake-tea in the three kingdoms period, lump-tea in Koryo dynasty and leaf-tea in Chosun dynasty. Those were affected by Chinese tea culture. (3) Transfer of tea and tea utensils Kokuryo and Shilla had to import cake-tea from tang China, and Koryo had to import lump-tea from Sung China, and Chosun had to import leaf-tea from ch'ing China. On the other hand, to export various tea to Khitai, Chin, Yuan, and Chosun had to export tea Ch'ing China. And the tea bowl produced in the Sung such as Chien Chou ware and Chi Chou ware, was also introduced to Koryo. (4) Suggestion for the promation of tea industry The Chosun government were adviced to the exchange of Chosun tea for Chosun tea for China horse, by yang Ho, General to the Ming expeditionary forces in Chosun, and were advised to engage in foreign tea trade, by Lee Hong Jyand, minister of commerce for the nothern sea to the Ching.

  • Treatment of infected mandibular fracture is confronted with various difficult problem, e.g. nosocomial wound infection, non-union of fracture, osteomyelitis. Recently, nosocomial infection has become a major health problem because of excessive morbidity, personal distress, and cost. Frequently, isolated causative microorganisms of nosocomial infection were staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonas aeruginosa, klebsiella species. The various manifestation of the disease related to the pathogenesis and the clinical course tend to give a bad prognosis after operation. This is a report of case that post-operative infected mandibular fracture in 53-year-old man was not healed even through aggressive I & D and antibiotic treatment.

  • Purpose: Antral pseudocyst is a common benign lesion that exists in the maxillary sinus. Because of this possible complication, controversy remains with respect to sinus floor elevation operations. The purpose of this study was to analyze the antral pseudocyst related to maxillary sinus augmentation. Patients and Methods: The radiographs of 268 patients who visited Chosun University Dental Hospital from 2008 to 2010 and underwent the maxillary bone grafting procedure were examined. Results: Of the 268 patients who underwent the maxillary bone grafting procedure, 5 patients (1.86%) were diagnosed with antral pseudocysts. In all cases, maxillary sinus floor elevation was performed without aspiration, biopsy or extraction of the antral pseudocyst. Conclusion: Antral pseudocysts are not considered a contraindication for maxillary sinus bone grafting procedure.

  • For the development of new cephalosporin antibiotics with aminothiazolcarboxymethylethoxyimino moiety on the C-7 position and tetrazolymethyl moiety on the C-3 position of cephe m ring, 7${\beta}$-[(Z)-2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-(1-carboxy-1-methylethoxyimino)acetamido]-3-[5-(substituted)tetrazol-2-yl]methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acids(28-35) were synthesized. These compounds were tested for antimicrobial activity in vitro against Gram(+) and Gram(-) bacteria. They showed remarkable antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli AB 1157, Escherichia coli AB 0111, Escherichia coli BE 1186, Micrococcus luteus ATCC 9341, Salmonella typhimurium TV 119, Salmonella typhimurium SL 1102, Staphylococcus aureus IFO 12732, Staphylococcus aureus R-209, but these compounds were not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa N-10.

  • Staphylococcus epidermidis is well-known not only as an innocuous normal flora species commonly isolated from human skin, but also as an important bacterial species to keep skin healthy, because this species can protect the human skin from pathogenic microorganisms. However, S. epidermidis turns into a potential pathogen in damaged skin, because these bacteria can easily form a biofilm on the wound area and provide antimicrobial resistance to other microorganisms embedded in the biofilm. Thus, it is important to kill S. epidermidis in the early stage of wound treatment and block the formation of biofilms in advance. In the present study, hydrogel wound dressings were fabricated using polyvinyl alcohol/polyethylene glycol containing silver citrate nanorods, which have been proven to have strong antimicrobial activity, especially against S. epidermidis, and their wound-healing efficacy was investigated in vivo using a rat experiment.

  • Osteomyelitis is an inflammatory condition of the bone caused by pathogenic bacteria. The causative pathogen is usually oral residing bacteria, but this is a report of patients with osteomyelitis infected with Enterobacteriaceae, which is not common. Enterobacteriaceae has been known to cause in-hospital infections for over last 30 years and is known to have multiple antibiotic resistances. Both cases in this study developed osteomyelitis after removal of the dentigerous cyst. Enterobacter aerogenes was cultured in one patient and Serratia marcescens in the other. After changing antibiotics through antibiotic susceptibility testing, clinical symptoms subsided and radiographic images confirmed that the callus formed and recovered at the same time.

  • Actinomycosis is rare, chronic, slowly progressive disease caused by gram-positive anaerobic organisms from the Actinomycosis family that normally colonizes the oral cavity. Actinomycotic osteomyelitis is even more rare and refractory disease because diagnosis by bacterial culture is not easy. In our case, 80-year-old man visited our clinic with a complaint of swelling and severe sinus tracts without teeth evolvement on anterior mandible. Computed tomography (CT) scan demonstrated erosive bone destruction on anterior mandible, clinically suspected actinomycotic osteomyelitis. The patient also had thoracic actinomycosis on Lt. lower lung. We could diagnosis actinomycosis by histopathologic examination. He treated by conservative surgery and long term antibiotics. After 2 year, no recurrence was seen in CT scan.
