  • The study explores the factors affecting the brand selection behavior of retail chains in Vietnam and to what extent they have an impact on the customer's choice intention. This research employs a combination of both qualitative and quantitative mixed methods with the help of SPSS version 22.0 in data analysis. Expert interviews are used to design the questionnaire for the survey conducted on 700 consumers. Research results show that the eight factors of store image (1-to-3 split factor of store image including the display of goods and services), price perception, risk perception, brand attitude, brand awareness, and brand familiarity were determined. They all influence the intention to choose the retail chain brand. With a positive β coefficient, the more store image, price perception, brand attitude, and brand awareness are enhanced, the more likely the intention to choose the retail chain brand. The factor of risk perception has negative , resulting in an inverse impact on choosing a retail chain brand name. Price perception and risk perception have the strongest impact on retail chain decision behavior while commodity display factors the least. Based on these important results, the study proposes implications for retailers and manufacturers.

  • The current study categorizes factors of smartphone into three, using KANO model: attractive factors which cause only product satisfaction, must-be factors for dissatisfaction, and one-dimensional factors for both. Based on it, it presents a new model for the effects that smartphone factors have on satisfaction or dissatisfaction. The purpose is to theoretically explain that smartphone factors on which companies and users place a high value can actually affect satisfaction or dissatisfaction. After choosing 15 factors out of 25 which had been selected through literature study, these were divided into attractive, must-be, and one-dimensional ones. 93 out of 109 questionnaires returned were used for analysis. After frequency analysis using SPSS were conducted on the surveys, the factors were grouped, based on KANO table. The grouping results are as follows. Attractive factors include 'expansion slots for external memory, battery desorption, brand awareness, mobile banking and internet telephony'. Must-be ones include 'multi-touch, information security, entertainment, information retrieval, location based service and SNS. Finally, 'screen visibility, size of internal memory, the amount of internal memory, battery life, and response to after-sales service' are classified as one-dimensional factors. A critical finding of this paper is that since the results are different depending on the operating system of smartphones, it must be taken into consideration in studies on smartphones. The wide and rapid spread of smartphones has changed people's lifestyle as well as business environment, which forces companies to compete with each other to adapt to the changed circumstances. In this competitive system, studies on smartphone factors of satisfaction and dissatisfaction are essential for firms to establish a new strategy. From this point of view, the present paper is expected to be a basic material for enterprises not only to develop goods and services that maximize customer satisfaction and minimize dissatisfaction, but also to establish the future business strategy.

  • This study examined and analyzed the demographical characteristics of the study target and their expectancy level on the factors in selecting dental medical institutes (basic elements of dental clinics, traffic convenience, physical environment of dental clinic and explicit qualification of dentist) with the questionnaire survey method with 222 questionnaires answered and returned (return rate 88.8%) out of 250 copies distributed to the 1st, 2nd and 3rdyear college students attending technical colleges located in Cheongwon-Gun, Chungbuk, Korea from March 26 to April 7, 2009. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The demographical characteristics of the study target group consisting of 225 college students include 92.3% of age 20s (205 students); 123 males (55.4%) and 99 females (44.6%); the number of those who had at least one experience to visit dental clinic was 199 (89.6%) and 23 (10.4%) of those with no-visiting experience. 2. The descriptive statistics for the selection factor showed that basic elements, traffic convenience, physical environment and explicit qualification of dentist were regarded important as in order. In particular, the factors considered in selecting dental clinic was ordered from most to least in their importance beginning with cleanness of dental clinic as the most important factor, dentist's trustworthiness, kindness of medical staffs, low medical fee, dentist's knowledge level, modernized medical equipments and convenience in using medical facilities as the least. On the contrary, brand name of dental clinic, age, college, sex and appearance of dentist were rated low in order in terms of their importance in selecting dental clinic. 3. As for the difference in the selection factors across demographical characteristics, while male students placed importance on traffic convenience and physical environment of dental clinic, female students placed more importance on dentist's qualification and basic elements of dental clinic. With respect to the difference in the selection factors across the visiting experiences, while those with visiting experience regard traffic convenience more importantly, those without visiting experience regarded physical environment of dental clinic, dentist's qualification and basic elements of dental clinic. 4. In terms of pearson correlation coefficient, the result showed that all aspects in selecting dental clinic were positively correlated. Particularly, the correlation between physical environment of dental clinic and dentist's explicit qualification were correlated highest. Significant positive correlations were found high in traffic convenience, physical environment of dental clinic, dentist's explicit qualification and basic elements of dental clinic in order.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the differences among the income level groups of young single-person households and newlywed households in factors affecting the choice of residential location in the Seoul metropolitan region. To summarize the results of the analysis, first, there were differences in the factors affecting the choice of residential location by income level in both single-person young households and newlyweds. Second, among young households, the low-income group showed a behavior of choosing a residential location based on bounded rationality considering the economic condition of the household. Third, even though the income level is similar, the difference in the factors for choosing a residential location between single-person young households and newlywed households was confirmed, which is results of the life-cycle changes. These results imply that it is necessary to prepare appropriate housing policies that can supplement the economic conditions of young households living in the Seoul metropolitan region, and to review customized housing policies that reflect changes in life-cycle stages as well as age or income level.

  • The most important practical feature that represents the performance of a washing machine is its ability to remove stains or soils from clothes. There are various tests to measure a washing machine's ability to remove stains or soils from clothes. The results of these tests are dependent upon the kind of soiled fabrics used. Moreover, these results may reflect some aspects of the effectiveness of a washing machine in cleaning clothes due to the paritcular compositions of chemicals which comprise soils in soiled fabrics and the particular conditions in which the results are evaluated. After selecting factors presumed to have a major effect on the cleaning ability of a washing machine and choosing most widely used soiled fabrics, we use experimetal statistics methods to screen real factors from them that influence the cleaning ability of a washing machine in a statistically significant manner for each soiled fabric. Using the least number of experimental rules required to extract the necessary information, we then proceed to present the study on the relations between the sets of selected factors and the soiled fabrics. We would then suggest which soiled fabrics is the best for evaluating the performance in cleaning clothes of a washing machine based on the above study.

  • In the supply chain network design, how to select the best location, capacity configuration of the suppliers and to assign manufacturers orders are a challenging issue. Especially when multi-tiers'suppliers are existed, the performance of supply chain is influenced by 2$\^$nd/ and 3$\^$rd/ suppliers. Supplier selection is multi-criteria problem which includes both qualitative and quantitative factors in supply chains. In order to select the best supplier it is necessary to make a trade off between these two factors such as cost, product quality, capacity, production lead time, deliver lead time and transportation lead tine of supplier constraints existed in multi-tiers supplier purchasing chain. In these circumstances, purchasing agents should decide two problems: which is the best supplier in each tier and how much should be purchased from each selected supplier. This research is intended to develop an integration of an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and mathematical modeling proposed to consider two factors which may be conflicted in choosing the best supplier in each tier and placing the optimum order quantities to the supplier among multi-tiers suppliers.
