Purpose: Knowledge, clinical reasoning, and self-confidence are the basis for undergraduate education, and determine students' level of competence. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of the addition of a one-time simulation experience to the didactic curriculum on nursing students' knowledge acquisition, clinical reasoning skill, and self-confidence. Methods: Using a quasi-experimental crossover design consisted of intervention and wait-list control groups. Participants were non-randomly assigned to the first intervention group (Group A, n=48) or the wait-list control group (Group B, n=46). Knowledge level was assessed through a multiple choice written test, and clinical reasoning skill was measured using a nursing process model-based rubric. Self-confidence was measured using a self-reported questionnaire. Results: Results indicated that students in the simulation group scored significantly higher on clinical reasoning skill and related knowledge than those in the didactic lecture group; no difference was found for self-confidence. Conclusion: Findings suggest that undergraduate nursing education requires a simulation-based curriculum for clinical reasoning development and knowledge acquisition.

The purpose of this study was to investigate characteristics on Department stores consumers and to compare consumer characteristics among shopper types and department store types. For this purpose an ethnographic approach which is a kind of qualitative analysis was performed first. And then The data were collected from 600 female consumers over twenties and residing in Pusan Finally 499 data were used for the statistical analysis. 1. The results of clothing shopping orientations study were as follows : As a result of qualitative analysis those who patronize department stores were recreational/convenience shoppers. From quantitative analysis clothing shopping orientations were factor analyzed. which resulted in eight factors ; Recreational Shopping Convenience Shopping. Sensibility Seeking Well-Known Brand Preference Fashion Seeking Economic Shopping Sel-confidence in clothing shopping Convenient store shopping. 2. The results of store choice criteria study were as follows: As a result of concentrative observation eight store choice criteria dimensions were categorized : Service Store Atmosphere Promotion/Facilities Product Convenience Advertisement VMD Traffic/Location Convenience. From quantitative analysis eight store choice criteria factors emerged; Service Store Atmosphere Promotion/Facilities Assortment Shopping Convenience Advertisement VMD Traffic/Location Convenience. 3. According to the factor scores of recreational shopping and Convenience shopping consumers were segmented into four shopper types ; High Shopping-involved Shopper Recreational Shopper Convenience Shopper and Low Shopping-involved Shopper. Department types were divided into a large enterprise department stores and local department stores. Consumer characteristics such as clothing shopping orientations store choice criteria purchase behavior variables and demographic variables were significantly different in shopper types and department store types were significantly different in clothing shopping orientations and tore choice criteria.
This study investigated the determinants of Tap Water consumption patterns. Socio-demographic variables(gender, family income, education level, residual area) and consumer attitude knowledge(confidence, knowledge, problem experience, risk perception and aesthetic satisfaction)were included in the analysis. Three hundred fifty-nine teachers were participated in this study. ANOVA(Scheffe test), t-test, regression and logistic regression were conducted. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Tap water was consumed by only 1.7%, boiled water prior to drinking by 37.9%, water filtered by 39.8% and bottled water by 19.0%. 2. Consumer attitude knowledge was affected by socio-demographic variables. That is, aesthetic satisfaction was affected by age, risk perception by gender and educational level, confidence by educational level, knowledge by gender and age, and problem experience by age. 3. Logistic regression analysis indicated that age, confidence and aesthetic satisfaction were the determinants of bottled water or filtered water choice. However, risk perception was not a significant determinant. This suggests alternatives to tap water is related to non-risk, or non-safety factors.

The purposes of this study was to demonstrate the influence of fashion life-style, self-image and situational factors on consumer's apparel store choice for satisfaction of varied needs and high efficiency of marketing activity. A questionnaire was developed to measure research subjects based on theoretical study empirically. The questionnaire was administered to 270 women aged between 20 and 30 in Seoul. The results analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, x2-test and oneway-anova. The results of empirical studies were summarized as follows: 1. Segmented groups of fashion life-style were classified practical/planning group, fashion- leader group, and shopping-oriented group. And store types which were prefered by those groups were department store/shopping center. 2. Segmented groups of self-image were classified actual-seeking group, modernity group and confidence group. And store types which were prefered by those groups were department store/shopping center. The Forecast of store choice on the base of self.image was showed that customers choose the store incongruous with self-image. But when it was analyzed each actual store choice. The Choice of high frequancy was congruous with self-image except for a specialty store/brand named outlet. 3. The significant differences could be found in choice of the store under particular purchase situations and especially at department stores and specialty store, their preference tended to be stronger as the degree of the store's involvement was hightened, but in the case of the generalization stores and the permanent discount stores, even though the degree of that involvement was low, their preference showed the same tendency.
Purpose: This study explored the degree to which pregnant women in Korea made informed choices regarding noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and investigated factors influencing whether they made informed choices. Methods: In total, 129 pregnant women in Korea participated in a web-based survey. Multidimensional measures of informed choice regarding NIPT and decisional conflict were used to measure participants' levels of knowledge, attitudes, deliberation, uptake, and decisional conflict related to NIPT. Additional questions were asked about participants' NIPT experiences and opinions. Results: All 129 pregnant women were recruited from an online community. Excluding those who expressed neutral attitudes toward NIPT, according to the definition of informed choice used in this study, only 91 made an informed choice (n=63, 69.2%) or an uninformed choice (n=28, 30.8%). Of the latter, 75.0% had insufficient knowledge, 39.3% made a value-inconsistent decision, and 14.3% did not deliberate sufficiently. No difference in decisional conflict was found between the two groups. A significant difference was found between the two groups in the reasons why NIPT was introduced or recommended (p=.021). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that pregnant women who were knowledgeable (odds ratio [OR], 4.77; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.17-10.47) and deliberated (OR, 0.74; 95% CI, 0.57-0.98) were significantly more likely to make an informed choice. Conclusion: The results of this study help healthcare providers, including nurses in maternity units, understand pregnant women's experiences of NIPT. Counseling strategies are needed to improve pregnant women's knowledge of NIPT and create an environment that promotes deliberation regarding this decision.

Purpose : We investigated the career choice and the employment preparation of emergency medical technology (EMT) students. The results of study will provide the base information about the consciousness for career choice and employment of the EMT students. Method : We conducted 1,586 surveys from 665 students at six four-year colleges and 921 students at seven three-year colleges, from Aug. 27th to Oct. 31st in 2010. The result was analyzed by SPSS 18.0 using description statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe and Pearson correlation coefficient. Result : The general characteristics showed male 50.2% and female 49.8%, and first grade 34.6%, second grade 27.4%, third grade 28.2%, and fourth grade 9.8%. The 53.9% of students had experienced the hospital training and the 44.8% did the fire station training. For the choice of job, there were the 61.8% student who hope to enter the employ in fire station or public service, while 25.7% students hope to be employed in hospitals. The reason for a wish job were 'majors-related job' in 18.2% students, 'employment stability' in 17.2% and 'hit on the aptitude and talent' in 16.7%, 'appropriate salaries' in 15.9%. In the questionnaire of the University what to assist you for job preparation, they chose the 'support for get major related license', 'support for officer exam preparation' and 'support of foreign language study' in 34.6%, 16.8% and 16.6%, respectively. For achieved licence, they had a driver's license in 53.9%, BLS (basic life support) provider in 20.3%, life guard in 16.2% and scuba in 8.8%. The statistically significant correlation was identified between the awareness of University that provides job information and one's career awareness (r= .203, p<.000), the awareness that University provide job information and one's confidence in employment (r= .236, p<.000), and one's career awareness and one's confidence in employment (r = .356, p = .000). Conclusion : The most of EMT Students are well conscious of the their future employment and has prepared career to be employed their preference job.
This study estimates the WTP for the plan of solving deforestation due to limestone mining and calculates that damage cost using contingent valuation method. As the results of analysing a dichotomous choice CV data, the yearly mean WTP per household for the plan is 5,045 won(95% confidence interval : 3,729~6,360 won) in single bounded CV model and is 4,361 won(95% confidence interval : 3,710~5,012 won) in double bounded CV model. The damage cost of deforestation due to limestone mining can be estimated as 55.3% of WTP for the plan which is assigned to restoring the deforestation area to the original or similar alternative state. The average yearly deforestation cost of 1 ha due to limestone mining is reached 20.90 million won(95% confidence interval : 16.53~25.27 million won). And the asset value of that 1 ha damage is 160.02 million won(95% confidence interval : 126.56~193.49 million won). The fact is found that the damage cost of deforestation using replacement cost method is likely to be underestimated. The total damage cost of deforestation because of limestone mining in 3 cities (Donghae, Samcheok, Yeongwol) is 204.0 billion won(95% confidence interval : 161.4~246.7 billion won) which is composed of 26.5% for Donghae, 28.9% for Samcheok, and 44.6% for Yeongwol according to the damage size of deforestation due to limestone mining in 3 cities.
As an alternative to classical maximum likelihood approach for analyzing dichotomous choice contingent valuation (DCCV) data, this paper develops a Bayesian approach. By using the idea of Gibbs sampling and data augmentation, the approach enables one to perform exact inference for DCCV models. A by-product from the approach is welfare measure, such as the mean willingness to pay, and its confidence interval, which can be used for policy analysis. The efficacy of the approach relative to the classical approach is discussed in the context of empirical DCCV studies. It is concluded that there appears to be considerable scope for the use of the Bayesian analysis in dealing with DCCV data.

Motivated by bioequivalence studies which involve comparisons of pharmaceutically equivalent dosage forms, we propose a more general decision rule for showing equivalence simultaneously between multiple means and a control mean. Namely, this testing procedure is concerned with the situation in that one must make decisions as to the bioequivalence of an original drug product and several generic formulations of that drug. This general test is developed by considering a spherical confidence region, which is a direct extension of the usual t-based confidence interval rule formally approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. We characterize the test by the probability of rejection curves and assess its performance via Monte-Carlo simulation. Since the manufacturer's main concern is the proper choice of sample sizes, we provide optimal sample sizes from the Monte-Carlo simulation results. We also consider an application of the generalized equivalence test to a repeated measures design.
Freight mode choice models are essential to the analysis of many areas of transport research. However, observations of actual market choices have only been made in a limited number of situations. Therefore, stated preference(SP) techniques have emerged as an alternative source of actual market choices to be used for estimating freight mode choice models. Considerable confidence exists about SP data, but little consideration has been given to the potential for estimation bias. This paper has been motivated by the theoretical side of estimating SP discrete choice models, focusing on a case study of freight mode choice. Recently developed simulation methods are used to construct inherent random heterogeneity legit models, which consider individual heterogeneity, its inheritance to the next choices and overcome the independence from irrelevant alternatives (IIA) property. This Paper contributes to the development of models dealing with heterogeneity and its inheritance, and sheds light on the heterogeneity of freight transport.
