The moment analysis of lysozyme was implemented using chromatograms that were obtained from weak cation exchange column in high performance liquid chromatography system. Three elution sodium phosphate buffers containing 1.0, 0.75, 0.5M sodium chloride were used. Experiments were conducted by varying flow rate, elution sodium chloride concentration, and lysozyme solute concentration. The general rate (GR) model was employed to calculate the first moment and the second moment. By plotting $L/u_0$ vs. $({\mu}_1-t_0)/(1-{\varepsilon}_e)(1-{\varepsilon}_i)$] equilibrium constants (K) were obtained from first moment analysis. Intra-particle diffusivity was obtained from theoretical plate number data. Based on the results of moment analysis, van Deemter plots were drawn in order to investigate the contributions of $H_{ax}$, $H_f$, and $H_d$ to total Height Equivalent to a Theoretical Plate (HETP, $H_{total}$). The effect of intra-particle diffusion ($H_d$) was the most dominant factor contributing to HETP while external mass transfer ($H_f$) was negligible factor.
Reverse osmosis (RO) concentration of sodium chloride, sodium acetate, and sodium citrate solutions has been performed by polyamide RO membrane. Concentration polarization phenomena was also studied by changing pressure, solute kinds, and initial solution concentration. Pressure effect on permeation flux was that the increase of flux was accompanied by the increase of pressure. Flux increase was observed by the decrease of initial solution concentration. Surface concentration on the RO membrane increases and so flux declines due to the concentration polarization. In the later phase of concentration, concentration polarization effect was decreased by the back diffusion of solute from the polariztion layer. In case of sodium citrate, its large ion size and charge density resulted in the discrepancy between theory and experimental data of concentration polarization. It may be due to electric repulsion on the membrane surface.
Direct synthesis of methylchlorosilanes was developed by Rochow with addition of copper on the silicon surface as a catalyst and many research were followed. Most of research were focused on the increase of reaction activity through addition of promoters and concentrated on the increase of selectivity of DMDC. However, there are very few studies about the reaction mechanism. Although formation of DMDC was explained in literature, formation of other silanes were not mentioned at all. This reseach focused on the explanation about formation of all silanes obtained during direct reaction and TPD. Reaction paths were proposed by means of dissociative adsorption of methyl chloride and spillover of surface Cl and H. Surface silicon sites were considered as $=SlCl_2$ and $=Sl(CH_3)Cl$. The synthesis of all methylchlorosilanes were explained by the adsorption of methyl group on the silicon sites and by the surface diffusion of nearby Cl and H. The proposed reaction mechanism explains the formation of all silanes during the reaction and also during the TPD process.

Corrosion failure analysis of the flow plate, which is one of the accessories of the plate heat exchanger in a district heating system, was performed. The flow plate is made of 316 stainless steel, and water at different temperatures in the flow plate exchanges heat in a non-contact manner. The flow plate samples in which water mixing issues occurred were collected. Corrosion-induced pits, oxides, and contaminants were observed at locations where two plates are regularly in contact. The EDS analysis of the surface oxides and contaminants revealed that they were composed of carbon, silicon, and magnesium, which came from chemical adhesives. The IC/ICP analyses showed that the concentration of chloride ions was 30 ~ 40 ppm, which was not sufficient to cause corrosion of stainless steel. In the crevice, a local decrease in dissolved oxygen occurs along with an increase in chloride ions, thus forming an acidic environment. These environments destroyed the passive film of stainless steel, resulting in pits. Moreover, contaminants formed a narrower gap between the two metal plates and inhibited the diffusion of ions, thereby accelerating crevice corrosion.

With the passing of time, exposed concrete structures are affected by a range of environmental, chemical, and physical factors. These factors seep into the concrete and have a deleterious influence compared to the initial performance. The importance of identifying and preventing further performance degradation due to the occurrence of deterioration has been greatly emphasized. In recent years, evaluations of the target life have attracted increasing interest. During the freezing-melting effect, a part of the concrete undergoes swelling and shrinking repeatedly. At these times, chloride ions present in seawater penetrate into the concrete, and accelerate the deterioration due to the corrosion of reinforced bars in the concrete structures. For that reason, concrete structures located onshore with a freezing-melting effect are more prone to this type of deterioration than inland structures. The aim of this study was to develop a high performance mortar mixed with a mineral admixture for the durability properties of concrete structures near sea water. In addition, experimental studies were carried out on the strength and durability of mortar. The mixing ratio of the silica fume and meta kaolin was 3, 7 and 10 %, respectively. Furthermore, the ultra-fine fly ash was mixed at 5, 10, 15, and 20%. The mortar specimens prepared by mixing the admixtures were subjected to a static strength test on the 1st and 28th days of age and degradation acceleration tests, such as the chloride ion penetration resistance test, sulfuric acid resistance test, and salt resistant test, were carried out at 28 days of age. The chloride diffusion coefficient was calculated from a series of rapid chloride penetration tests, and used to estimate the life time against corrosion due to chloride ion penetration according to the KCI, ACI, and FIB codes. The life time of mortar with 10% meta kaolin was the longest with a service life of approximately 470 years according to the KCI code.
This study has been made to make an observation regarding present status of the coal mine props which is desperately needed for coal production, despite of great shortage of the timber resources in this country, and investigate the effects of diffusion process on the decay resistances of the mine props as applied preservatives of Malenit and chromated zinc chloride. The results are as follows. 1. Present status of the coal mine props Total demand of coal mine props in the year of 1975 was approximately 456 thousand cubic meters. The main species used for mine props are conifer (mainly Pinus densiflora) and hardwood (mainly Quercus). Portions between them are half and half. With non fixed specification, wide varieties of timber in size and form are used. And volume of wood used per ton of coal production shows also wide range from 0.017 cubic meter to 0.03 cubic meter. 2. Decay resistance test a) The oven dry weight decreased between untreated specimen and treated specimen has not shown any significantly, although it has shown some differences in average values between them. It may be caused by the shorter length of the test. b) The strength of compression test between untreated specimen and treated specimen has also shown the same results as shown in case of weight decrease. Reasons assumed are the same. c) The amounts of the extractives in one percent of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) between untreated and treated specimen have shown the large value in case of untreated specimen than that of treated. 3. The economical benifit between untreated and treated wood when applied in field has seen better in long tenn base in case of treated wood, although the primary cost of treated wood add a little bit more cost than that of the untreated wood.

In this study, in order to evaluate the self-healing performance of cement composites the self-healing test method and the analysis method were suggested by applying constant water head permeability test, chloride migration test and repeated bending test. The method of making a cracked specimen and controlling crack width are also proposed. Constant head water permeability test can evaluate the healing performance by using the decreasing rate of water flow passing through the crack zone of a specimen. Furthermore, the equivalent crack width can be used to intuitively investigate the healing effect with healing period. The chloride migration test can evaluate the healing rate by the decreasing rate of the diffusion coefficient obtained by ASTM C 1202. Mechanical healing performance can be evaluated using ISR and IDR estimated from load vs. CMOD relationship graph obtained through the repeated bending test. Finally, the applicability of proposed self-healing evaluation methods was examined by testing mortar specimens with or without self-healing agents.

In the sewage structures and wastewater facilities, concrete is exposed to hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) which acts as an acid material in a solution, and a strongly acidic sulfate ion ($SO{_4}^{-2}$) is generated by a sulfuric bacteria. Hence, a degradation of concrete with biochemical corrosion would be accelerated. Finally, durability of concrete and concrete structures may be greatly reduced. In this study, in order to remove the hydrogen sulfide which is used by the sulfuric bacteria organic-biologically, the antibiotic metal and metallic salt powders were mixed to concrete, and a suppressing performance of the sulfate ion was assessed. For the sulfuric acid bacteria, a comparative evaluation of antimicrobial performance on neutralized concrete specimens were carried out, also by a rapid chloride penetration test, chloride penetration depths and diffusion coefficients were measured for antibiotic concrete in accordance with the amount of metal and metallic salt-based antibacterial agents. Eventually, by an observation of the biochemical state of the surface of concrete specimens exposed outdoors, the performance and applicability of antibiotic concrete were confirmed.
Three amorphous silicas and SBA-15 were employed as supports, which were capable of confining ionic liquid (IL) and metallocene in the nanopore. Ionic liquid functionalized silica was prepared by the interaction between the chloride anions of 1,3-bis(cyanomethyl)imidazolium chloride and the surface OH groups. Metallocene and methylaluminoxane (MAO) were subsequently immobilized on the ionic liquid functionalized silica for ethylene polymerization. The metallocene supported on ionic liquid functionalized XPO-2412 and XPO-2410 having a larger pore diameter compared to SBA-15 showed higher activity than that of using supported catalyst without ionic liquid functionalization. However, the activity of metallocene supported on SBA-15 decreased after ionic liquid functionalization, suggesting that the diffusion of ethylene monomer and cocatalyst to the active site of nanopore was restricted during ethylene polymerization. This could be resulted from significant reduction of the pore diameter due to the immobilization of ionic liquid and $(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ and MAO. The effect on polymerization activity in accordance with the concentration of hydroxyl groups on the surface was also investigated. The polymerization activity increased as the concentration of hydroxyl groups on amorphous silica increased. The polymerization activities of metallocene supported on silica showed the similar trend after ionic liquid functionalization.
In order to study the mineralogical characteristics of a cathodic deposition-metallic powder, electrowinning experiments were carrier out on different electrolytic solutions at varying electric distances and electric currents. Under the same experimental conditions, Cu recovery was obtained much more effectively using a sodium chloride electrolyte than with a sulfuric acid electrolyte. In XRD analysis, copper ($Cu^0$), chalcanthite and cuprite were identified in the sulfuric acid electrolyte, while copper, nantokite and chalcanthite were observed in the sodium chloride electrolyte. In the sodium chloride electrolyte solution, increasing the electric distance and the electric current increased the Cu recovery rate, anode weight and anodic corrosion. The results of XRD analysis with non-pulverized cathodic deposition-metallic powder showed the average copper crystallite size was increased by increasing the electric current and decreasing the electric distance. It is suggested that the mass transfer was controlled with diffusion on the boundary between the electrode and the electrolytic solution due to the formation of dendrite copper.
