  • This review presents the preparation, transport mechanism and application of molecularly imprinted membranes (MIM). Molecular imprinting has now been established as a technique which allows the creation of tailor-made binding sites for many classes of compounds. MIM have some advantages; a high capacity due to a large surface area, faster transport of substrate molecules and faster equilibrium of binding cavities compared to molecularly imprinted particles. MIM were prepared by covalent and non-covalent chemical bonding systems, by interactions between functional monomer and template. MIM can be prepared by in-situ polymerization, wet phase inversion, dry phase inversion, and surface imprinting method. MIM can continuously separate mixtures based on facilitated or retarded diffusion of the template. MIM can change their permeability in the presence of templates. MIM have a potential to be used to separate chiral compounds and materials with similar structures. However the application of MIM by the chemical industries is still in its infancy stages.

  • Membrane technology can be applied in two ways to produce pure enantiomers. In one case a membrane separation process can be cmbined with an enantiospecific reaction to obtain so-called 'en-antiospecific membrane reacto' These systems are useful to carry out asymmetric synthesis or kinetic resolution and simulatneously separate the produced enantiomer. As for general membrane reactors the result is a more compact system with a higher conversion: in fact removal of a product drives equilibrium-limited reactions towards completion. The other way to apply membrane technology to chiral production is the use of intrinsically enantioselective membranes that are able to distinguish between two isomers favouring preferential transport of only one isomer in absence of reaction. In this paper the current development of chiral membrane processes will be discussed.

  • It is well known that the characteristics of liquid crystal polymer composite(LCPC) films are possessed of large-area and flexible display, polarizer free, high contrast, wide angle of visual filed and high responsiveness. In this study, we have investigated to the best optimal mixing rates chiral nematic liquid crystals and UV-curable resins having different properties acrylate moleculars. The purpose of this study has been the development of new functional application with liquid crystal polymer composite films. For example the films were applied a new thermal sensor. In results, best phase separation behaviors turned out liquid crystal/monomer/oilgomer mixture system.

  • Several aspects of polymer dispersed liquid crystal(PDLC) film properties make them interesting for display application. Most versions of PDLC materials are able to modulate light without the use of polarizers, which offers advantages in optical throughput(brightness) and viewing angle compared to polarizer-based display. In this papers, we attemped to doe minimum of remaining liquid crystals at polymer network for the liquid crystal-polymer composite (LCPC) films. In results, best phase separation behaviors turned out liquid crystal/monomer/oligomer mixture system.

  • The carboxylated acidic non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) constitute the principal class of agents for controlling the pain and inflammation of the rheumatic diseases. It is mostly administered as a racemic mixture like most other drugs with asymmetric carbon atoms. However enantiomers of many racemic drug substances have been shown to posses different pharmacological toxicological properties. (omitted)

  • A stereoselective and sensitive high performance liquid chromatography using fluoresecence deterctor was examined for the determination of R(-) and S(+)-salbutamol in human plasma. Solid phase extraction method using silica as sorbent was used to extract salbutamol racemates from the plasma matrices. After fractionation and freeze-drying of the eluates containing salbutamol racemates, they were separated and quantified on a chirla stationary column. The detection limit of each enantiomer was 2 ng/ml in human plasma (S/N=3).
