병렬형 공작기계의 채터 예측 (Analytical Prediction of Chatter for Parallel Machine Tool)

  • Machine tool chatter is the self-excited vibration generated by chip thickness variation and severely degrades the quality of machined surface. The incidence of chatter is greatly affected by the dynamic characteristics of machine tool structure. Therefore, the cutting dynamics in the parallel machine tool is to be carefully studied considering the dynamic characteristics of parallel mechanism. In this paper, the vibration model of parallel machine tool is derived, in which the legs of the parallel mechanism are considered as spring-damper systems. The chatter stability charts for various machining parameters are examined with the example of the cubic parallel mechanism that is specially designed for machine tool use.

  • Measurement of concentration fields in a micro-channel is the crucial technology in the area of Lab-on-a-chip to be used for various bio-chemical applications. It is wel-known that the only possible way to measure the concentration field in the micro-channel is using micro-LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) method. However, an accurate concentration field at a given cross plane in a micro-channel has not been made so far due to the limit of light illumination. The present study demonstrates a novel method to provide an ultra thin laser sheet beam having 5 microns thickness by a micro focus laser line generator. Nile Blue A was used as fluorescent dye for LIF measurement. The laser sheet beam illuminates an exact plane of concentration measurement in the micro-channel to increase the signal to noise ratio and reduce the depth uncertainty considerably.

선삭에서 공구의 윗면경사각이 비절삭저항에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Back Rake Angle of Tool for Specific Cutting Resistance in Turning)

  • Back rake angle of tool is one of the fundamental effects to the cutting ability. In this paper, for several back rake angle of lathe tool (-5$^{\circ}$ , 0$^{\circ}$ , 5$^{\circ}$ , 10$^{\circ}$ , 15$^{\circ}$ ), we experimentally examine cutting forces via orthogonal cutting. Using measured cutting forces, a formula for specific cutting resistance is derived according to the variation of tool angle. Also, the measured cutting forces are analyzed in both time and frequency domain. Cutting parameters are obtained by measuring the thickness of chip, and the effect of the back rake angle of tool is manifested. This study maintains the predicted cutting model with improved accuracy.

감도특성 향상을 위한 국부적 표면식각 다이아프램 구조 연구 (The Diaphragm Structure Using the Local Surface Etching for the Improvement of Sensitivity Characteristics)

  • In the pressure sensor, about below 20 kPa, the center boss diaphragm structure is generally used, but it is hard to obtain the high sensitivity because the center boss structure is limited at the thickness and size of diaphragm with chip size. Therefore, this paper suggests that the Center boss structure has surface etched diaphragm using a stress concentration to improve the sensitivity. We carried out the simulation and fabrication applied new diaphragm design. In the result, the sensitivity is improved to 60% without the change of non-linearity (0.14%FS). So, the Center boss of surface etched diaphragm can be applied for the high sensitivity in the low-pressure sensor.

엔드밀링에서의 동절삭력 모델을 이용한 채터예측 (Chatter Prediction in Endmilling Using Dynamic Cutting Force Modeling)

  • Cutting process, in general, is a closed-loop system consisting of structural dynamics and cutting dynamics, with the cutting forces and the relative displacements between tool and workpiece being the associated variables. There have been a number of works on modeling the cutting process of endmilling, most of which assumed that either one of the tool or workpiece be negligible in tis displacement. In this paper, the relative displacement between tool and workpiece was considered. The proposed model used experimental modal analysis for structural dynamics and an instantaneous uncut chip thickness model for cutting dynamics. Simulation of the model, a time varying cutting system, was performed using 4th order Runge-Kutta method. Subsequent simulation results were utilized to predict chatter over a variety of experiments in slotting operation, showing good agreement.

  • In this paper, internal antennas for IMT-2000 handset(1.92∼2.17 GHz) were designed to be capable of being mounted on the circuit-board with a CPW(coplanar waveguide) feeding structure. The chip antennas were miniaturized to a greater extent by fabricating multilayer high dielectric ceramic($\varepsilon$$\sub$r/=7.8) hexahedron. The proposed antennas has λ/4 monopole element with helical structure in the multilayer dielectric ceramic hexahedron. The simulated and measured results were invesgated with width, length, and thickness of helical structure in the hexahedron.

교정용 장치물에 대한 TiN Ion Plating의 응용 (APPLICATION OF TIN ION-PLATING TO THE ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCE)

  • To estimate the possibility of the application of TiN ion-plating to the orthodontic appliance, colorimetric properties, and characteristics of ion-plated film as well as adhesive strength of TiN film to the substrate and mechanical properties of ion-plated orthodontic appliance were investigated. The obtained results were as follows: 1) TiN ion-plated film had the colorimetric properties which were the hue of about 2.5 Y, the brightness of about 6, and the chroma of about 4 by the standard color chip of JIS. 2) TiN ion-plated film was $2{\mu}m$ in thickness and its deposition pattern was rather irregular. 3) TiN phase was confirmed on the X-ray diffraction pattern. 4) Critical load for delamination of ion-plated film from stainless steel band was 10N. 5) Tensile and yield strength of ion-plated specimen was increased about 10Kg $f/mm^2$, while elongation was decreased $1\%$ compairing to the values of the non ion-plated specimen.

반도체 칩 검사 장비의 진동 특성 연구 (A Study of Vibration Characteristic for Semiconductor Chip Test Equipment)

  • This paper aims to analyze the vibration characteristics of the test equipment that inspects any defects in manufactured semiconductor chips and classifies defective chips. This type of equipment should be robust against any vibrations because such vibrations can cause disruption in the process that requires higher precision. 3D model of the structure of the equipment has been used to configure vibration simulation model. Model analysis have been carried out to analyze which part of the equipment is weak against vibration. To minimize the vibration effect of the equipment, the thickness of the plate consist of the equipment and weights are modified. The results show that thicker plate and higher weight in the equipment can decrease vibration effect.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of the helix angle of endmilling cutter on the cutting characteristics of inconel 718 in up endmilling. To this end cutters with helix angle of $20^\circ$, $30^\circ$, $40^\circ$ and $50^\circ$ degree have been prepared. And a modified cutting force model in up end milling process is presented. Using this cutting force components of 4-tooth endmills with various helix angles have been predicted. Predicted values of cutting force components are well coincide with the measured ones. As helix angle increases overlapping effects of the active cutting edges increase.

  • We experimented turning SCM440, called difficult-to-cut materials in general, using tungsten carbon tool(PIO) in order to elevate machinability by a new cutting method. The cutting tool designed and made to study was cooled to -17$0^{\circ}C$ in about 1 minute by liquid nitrogen. Then, we operated cryogenic cutting by cooling tool with liquid nitrogen and stuided the effect about cutting force, chip thickness, surface roughness, behavior of tool wear and cutting temperature. In addition, we investigated the possibility that sur face roughness of workpiece can be predicted analyzing cutting characteristics.
