Recently China has become one of the major markets for luxury brands. In addition, practicing social responsibility by manufacturers of luxury brands has become ubiquitous because consumers' perception of such practices may affect their purchase decisions positively. This study explored Chinese shoppers' perception of luxury brands' social responsibility practices and their information seeking behavior. In this study, value congruence was used as a theoretical framework. Twelve participants were selected out of customers in a shopping mall in Beijing, and they were subject to in-depth interview. The interview consisted of open-ended questions about perception of luxury brands' social responsibility practices, sources to access such practices, and the degree of personal value congruence to such practices as well as demographic information. Qualitative approach was used to analyze the data. Half of the participants indicated their awareness of the social responsibility practices of luxury brands, which sets up a foundation for understanding importance of luxury brands' social responsibility practices. Approximately half of the participants preferred to learn about luxury brands' socially responsible practices online especially via social media. These findings imply that Chinese luxury shoppers' trust and preference for the companies would be enhanced by effective development and advertisement of companies' social responsibility practices, and thus provide luxury companies with useful information on marketing strategies.

This study examined the e-WOM acception and transmission motive of Chinese online fashion product shoppers in their 20s and analyzed the effect of acception and transmission motive factors on acception and transmission behavior. This study investigated the effect of acception and transmission behaviors on purchase satisfaction. Analysis was conducted with data collected from 373 Chinese individuals in their 20s. Data were analyzed with factorial analysis, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, chi-square test, paired t-test, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ using SPSS 18.0. The results were: 1. The factor analysis of e-WOM acception motive extracted two factors: risk reduction and confidence. The factor analysis of e-WOM transmission motive extracted three factors: Compensation/pleasure, advice, and emotion expression. 2. The two motives of e-WOM acception affected acception behavior. Confidence motive affected acception behavior more than risk reduction motive. The three motives of e-WOM transmission motives affected transmission behavior. Transmission behavior affected by advice, compensation/pleasure, and emotion expression in order of significance. 3. e-WOM acceptance behavior affected purchase satisfaction more than transmission behavior.
The purpose of this study was to explore differences in style preference, information source, and store selection behaviors of Korean and Chinese wedding dress shoppers. Data obtained from 141 Chinese and 143 Korean females were analyzed through descriptive analysis, t-test, cross-tabulation and factor analysis. Results for Chinese and Korean consumers depended on the marketer-driven information source as well as on the consumer-driven information source. Both groups considered the aesthetics of the wedding dress as the most important criterion for store selection. There were some differences between Chinese and Korean consumers in style preferences and store selection criteria. Chinese consumers liked a wider range of wedding dress styles compared to Korean consumers. Also, Chinese consumers regarded fashionability as more significant whereas Koreans considered economic benefits more importantly when selecting stores for a wedding dress.

This study investigates the dimensionality of perceived web site quality for fashion e-retailers to compare the differences in perceived web site quality between Korean and Chinese college students in the identification of the decisive web site quality dimensions for customer satisfaction and repurchase intentions. Data were collected from 300 Korean and 300 Chinese online apparel shoppers. The survey was statistically analyzed by factor analysis, T-test, and regression analysis. The perceived service quality dimensions were identified as product quality, economic efficiency, information quality, site design, and trust. The Chinese college students had significantly higher evaluations than Korean college students on information quality and trust. For Korean college students, product quality, economic efficiency, and trust were the most decisive predictors of customer satisfaction and they have indirect effects on repurchase intentions. For Chinese college students, product quality and information quality were identified as the most decisive predictors of customer satisfaction and they have indirect effects on repurchase intentions. Strategic directions for e-commerce business targeting Korean or Chinese college students are suggested in the conclusion.
Since 2009, consumers could access a new shopping channel called 'mobile shopping' with the generalization of smartphones. Mobile shopping (based on wireless communication technology), emphasizes convenience differentiated from internet shopping. A recent report introduced fashion products as powerful global drivers for mobile shopping sales. Korea and China have the highest percentage of consumer mobile shopping experiences compared to other countries. This study investigates the effects of cross-over shopping orientation, perception of app attributes, and flow on app loyalty that compared Korean and Chinese consumers. We obtained 652 usable questionnaires from two local college students; subsequently, data were analyzed by using factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 Package. The study results showed that the cross-over shopping orientation affected perception of app attributes that included Review/Information, Design, Response and Product. Product only affected Flow, which reflected a high similarity between Korean and Chinese consumers. However, Korean and Chinese consumers showed remarkable differences in the factors related to app loyalty. Therefore, the results indicate that retailers of fashion products have developed strategies to improve mobile sales and increase the app loyalty of cross-over shopping orientation consumers.

China has emerged as the world's factory since the economic reform in 1987, and the Chinese economy has been growing at a rapid pace. Now, China is considered as one of the biggest markets in the world. Thus, many Korean IT service companies including open market operators have interests in expanding their business into China. However, to be successful in Chinese online shopping market, Korean open market operators should check the cultural differences between the online shoppers in Korea and China at first, Under this background, this study proposes the factors affecting user satisfaction in open market services based on the revised Delone and McLean model. Then, it investigates the differences in the effects of these factors across Korea and China. For empirical analysis, we collected the survey data from open market users in both countries, and applied multiple regression analysis to the data. As a result, we found significant differences between Korean and Chinese open market users. Also, we found that most of these differences could be explained using Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions theory. The findings of this paper imply that Korean and Chinese users may respond differently to IT services, though Korea and China are geographically close and share a similar cultural background.
This article presents the results of a survey of 209 Chinese male consumers. In this study, consumer evaluations and attitude towards products made in industrialized and newly industrialized countries were obtained along with measures of consumer shopping behavior. The results indicate that industrialized countries were perceived as manufacturing products that are more reliable, technologically advanced, stylistic, and costly than newly industrialized countries. A duster analysis using moderating variables related to shopping for refrigerators, cameras, and t shirts revealed that the Chinese respondents could be grouped into four segments identified as Durables Enthusiasts, Duraoles Uninvolved, Inexperienced Shoppers, and Apparels Involved. Country attitudes and evaluations were fairly consistent across the newly industrialized countries but varied for industrialized countries across the four segments. Similar results also emerged from a correlation analysis of made in attitude scales (based on moderating shopping variables) with country evaluations. It was found that Chinese consumers' involvement with durable products was positively related to the evaluation of industrialized countries. Consumers belonging to the Durable Enthusiasts and Apparels Involved segments evaluated industrialized countries more favorably and believed to a greater extent that products made in these countries are reliable, technologically advanced, and stylistic than consumers belonging to the Durables Uninvolved and Inexperienced Shopper segments. Managerial and research implications are derived from these results.
