The study is based on the responses obtained by questionnaires from 400 respondents in Guangzhou, China. The information was collected and classified on the basis of gender, occupation, age and education in order to understand the main characteristics of the sample in a better way. The purposive, convenient and quota sampling techniques of non-probability sampling method were used. Besides this, the predictive test was carried out with 30 respondents to ensure the reliability and validity of the questionnaires. The data was put to descriptive statistical analysis and multiple regression analysis in order to verify the hypotheses. The data revealed that, while brand awareness does not affect the consumer attitude about the high-end cosmetics, other factors like product involvement, perceived quality, subjective norm, and word-of-mouth have significant effect on consumer's attitude and consumers' intention about high-end cosmetics. • Despite its rising labor costs these days, China still serves the role as 'World's Factory' thanks to a great deal of foreign direct investment, still remaining one of the world's highest, and the global companies, which have been willingly establishing foreign subsidiaries in China. While enjoying the benefits from the Chinese market, these global companies can now take advantages of another market; the one of Korea. If a product produced by a certain global company is actually manufactured in the local factory in China and the product meets specifications of Rules of Origin, the product shall receive preferential treatment under China-Korea FTA. In the perspective of global market, therefore, it is found that China-Korea FTA may have negative effects on chemical industry in Korea, which is considered one of the representatives of China-Korea FTA. This study examines such risks by network analysis, with several cases of 'Beauty or Make-up Preparations (HS Code 3304).' Analysis shows that Korea is classified as the marginal country group but not main country group when it comes to beauty products family. So this can be a great chance to the global cosmetic companies with local factories in China in the sense that they can increase their sales towards the market of Korea based on the China-Korea FTA. Under these concerns, this study suggests two policy alternatives for the chemical industry in Korea to deal with current challenges rising from China-Korea FTA. The suggested alternatives are: to actively attract the global chemical corporations which are yet to directly enter the Chinese market; and to invest on chemical products with high potential of growth as a priority.

  • Currently, attentions toward the Chinese market have been growing rapidly. Economical values of China are highly appreciated. The current shift of economical environments in China leads to changes in the way of consumers' consumption. The purpose of this study is to identify the Chinese consumers' brand purchasing behavior according to their lifestyle. Questionnaires developed by researcher were distributed and collected from 118 Chinese consumers living in metropolitan areas of China. In research, five different lifestyles were identified; which are the vogue pursuing group, the social intercourse group, the traditional conservative group, the achievement pursuit group, and the passive stagnated group. These groups differed in the perception of cosmetic prices, purchase motivations, post-acquisitional satisfaction, and their demographics. For example, the vogue pursuing group consumers turned out to consider price as the most important element when they purchase cosmetics, while the social intercourse group valued recommendation from others more. Meanwhile the traditional conservative group and the achievement group each used past experience and attributes as their criterion.

  • We have studied the cytoprotective effect on H$_2$O$_2$ induced oxidative stress from leaves of Carpinus tschonoskii. The methanol extract of Carpinus tschonoskii was found to scavenge intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) using flow cytometry and confocal microscope. This extract prevented lipid peroxidation and thus reduced cell death of Chinese hamster lung fibroblast (V79-4) induced by H$_2$O$_2$ treatment. The extract increased catalase activity and phosphorylation of extracellular signal regulated kinase (ERK). Taken together, the results suggest that Carpinus tschonoskii protects V79-4 cells against oxidative damage by H$_2$O$_2$ through scavenging ROS.

  • With the rapid growth of the Chinese cosmetics market and the continuous introduction of new products into the market, beauty videos generated by other consumers, that are by beauty vloggers, have become a major source of information for cosmetics consumers. With the popularity of beauty vlogs in China, beauty vloggers have become influencers who affect consumers' information processing and attitude development regarding cosmetic products and beauty routines. The current study aims to explore the characteristics of beauty vloggers that affect consumers' attitudes toward both the beauty vlogs and the products featured in those vlogs. Based on parasocial interaction theory, the study examines whether perceived characteristics of beauty vloggers influence consumers' perceived parasocial interaction, which in turn influences their attitudes. The study employs an online survey, which was administered to female consumers in China. Data from a total of 372 responses was used for analysis. Findings show that the perceived similarities to and perceived trustworthiness of vloggers have a significant impact on parasocial interactions, which influences consumer attitudes toward both the vlogs and the products shown in them. Perceived reliability and perceived attractiveness are shown to have a positive impact on consumer attitudes toward vlogs. Perceived expertise, attractiveness, similarity, and trustworthiness have all been shown to affect product attitudes. These results show that while beauty vlogs have a significant impact on consumers' decision-making processes, the perceived characteristics of beauty vloggers themselves are important to consumers in the development of their attitudes toward both vlogs and products.

  • This study aimed to investigate differences in the purchasing patterns of and the levels of satisfaction with cosmetic products, and the method of disposing dissatisfied cosmetics for female university students among China, Japan and Korea. Survey was conducted with 1,200 female coeducational university students in Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul and 1,115 were used for the data analysis. Data were analysed by frequency analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, chi-square analysis, analysis of variance, Duncan's Multiple Range test. The results showed significant differences in purchasing behaviors in China, Japan and Korea. Japanese students mainly got information through objective sources, while Koreans did so through human network. Regrading the evaluative criteria for basic care items, function and effect were the most important criteria for Chinese and Korean consumers and skin compatibility for Japanese. For color make-up, Chinese, Japanese and Korean respondents respectively cared the most on brand image, convenience of purchase and the current trend. Chinese tended to shop cosmetics at department stores due to store reputation, Japanese preferred supermarkets and pharmacies and Koreans shopped at discount stores for low price. The most influential human sources were friends and colleagues for Chinese and Korean, and models on advertisements and magazines for Japanese. Korean respondents displayed the highest level of satisfaction with cosmetics followed by Japanese and Chinese. As for the methods of disposing dissatisfactory cosmetics, Chinese were the most active in exchanging for other product; Japanese and Korean were not likely to use or throw the products away.

  • Although brand love is a major interest in global business, very little is known about how the effects of brand love are affected by relevant constructs. This study examines how the brand love-loyalty link is moderated by shopping value (hedonic vs. utilitarian) and how the moderated moderation effect of gender difference influences the consumer-brand relationship. Based on a unique dataset of 254 Chinese consumers of Korean cosmetic brands in China, we tested our proposed hypotheses using Regression PROCESS macro (model = 3). One of our novel findings is that brand love has a positive influence on brand loyalty. However, this relationship is sensitive to moderators. Regarding the brand love-loyalty linkage, consumers who seek hedonic shopping value is higher than consumers who seek utilitarian shopping value. In particular, female consumers are more passionate and loyal than male consumers. Finally, male consumers seeking hedonic shopping value feature greater brand love-loyal linkage than other consumers; however, this effect is very limited.
