The purpose of this study is to identify the differences in persuasive effectiveness of visual merchandising between consumers in Korea and China including the moderating roles of shopping value in effectiveness of visual merchandising. For the cross-cultural experiment, 2(degree of sensuousness of VM: high vs. low)${\times}$2(involvement: high vs. low)${\times}$2(nation: Korea vs. China) factorial design were used. A total of 480 questionnaires allocating 60 students to each group were distributed. The results were as follows. First, Chinese consumers were likely to respond favorably regardless of the degree of sensuousness of VM, while Korean consumers were more positive in high degree of sensuousness of VM. Second, aesthetic cognition of VM and attitude toward VM had positive influences on brand cognition in both countries. Third, Korean consumers with greater recognition of aesthetic attributes of VM had more positive brand attitude, while Chinese consumers with greater recognition of utilitarian attributes of VM had more positive brand attitude. Fourth, there were moderating effects of shopping value in persuasive effectiveness of VM in Chinese consumer group, while there were no significant moderating effects in Korean consumer group. With the cross-cultural interpretation of the fin-dings, strategic implications and suggestions for the global fashion retailing, specifically fashion visual merchandising, are provided.
Since 2009, consumers could access a new shopping channel called 'mobile shopping' with the generalization of smartphones. Mobile shopping (based on wireless communication technology), emphasizes convenience differentiated from internet shopping. A recent report introduced fashion products as powerful global drivers for mobile shopping sales. Korea and China have the highest percentage of consumer mobile shopping experiences compared to other countries. This study investigates the effects of cross-over shopping orientation, perception of app attributes, and flow on app loyalty that compared Korean and Chinese consumers. We obtained 652 usable questionnaires from two local college students; subsequently, data were analyzed by using factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 Package. The study results showed that the cross-over shopping orientation affected perception of app attributes that included Review/Information, Design, Response and Product. Product only affected Flow, which reflected a high similarity between Korean and Chinese consumers. However, Korean and Chinese consumers showed remarkable differences in the factors related to app loyalty. Therefore, the results indicate that retailers of fashion products have developed strategies to improve mobile sales and increase the app loyalty of cross-over shopping orientation consumers.

Apparel manufacturers and distributors in China participated in the study. Random sampling method was used to collect the data. Data from 173 questionnaires were used for the statistical analysis. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, t-test, and regression analysis were conducted. Two factors of private Guanxi were classified(i.e., affective Guanxi, instrumental Guanxi). Three factors of organizational relationship type were identified(i.e., opportunistic relationship, cooperative relationship, vertical relationship). The results indicated that distributors regarded affective Guanxi as important more than manufactures and employees regarded affective Guanxi and instrumental Guanxi as important more than presidents. Distributors regarded cooperative relationship as important more than manufactures. Employees regarded organizational relationship as important more than presidents. Affective Guanxi positively affected on cooperative relationship and vertical relationship but negatively affected on opportunistic relationship. Instrumental Guanxi positively affected on opportunistic relationship and vertical relationship. The result of this study may give valuable information to retail merchandisers and strategists who participated in fashion business in China.
This study compares and analyzes bridal wedding styles in Korean and Chinese SNS. For this, 715 photos (362 in Korea and 353 in China) collected on social media (Instagram and Xiaohongshu) were used for analysis. The bridal wedding style was divided by item into wedding dress, makeup, and hairstyle, and detailed characteristics of images and designs were examined through content analysis and statistical analysis. First, in the case of Korea, many wedding dresses showed ball gowns and mermaid silhouettes, white colors, and no details and trimmings. As for the makeup, transparent and natural skin expression, straight eyebrows, and pink and peach lip colors were highlighted; and as for hairstyles, many long hair with half-covered ears appeared. Second, in China, a ball gown, mermaid silhouette, and white color are often seen in wedding dresses, and point colors and use of various details and trimmings are noted. The makeup showed a lot of bright skin expression, brown and black eyebrows, and red and brown lip colors. As for hairstyle, a lot of long hair with completely exposed ears appeared. Third, the comparison of bridal wedding styles between Korea and China indicated that China used relatively more details and trimmings in wedding dresses. As for makeup, Korea has a natural image, and China has a classic image. As for the hairstyle, there were many styles in which Koreans had half the ears covered, and Chinese had no bangs and completely exposed ears.
The study aims to investigate women's clothes described in Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang in Nara period of Japan to gain a clear understanding of the clothes of the ruling class women at that time. Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang was made in Nara period of Japan when Japan sent envoys and students to Tang, a dynasty of China, to acquire advanced civilization. At that time, Japan also fostered a strong international culture through the exchanges with neighboring nations. With this inflow of continental culture, Japan was dramatically advanced politically, socially, and culturally. The analysis of the clothes of Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang showed that she had her hair decorated with Bogye. She wore Ungyeon, Baeja, Daesui, and Tongsui as for her upper garment and Gun, Seub, and Peseul as for her lower garment. She also wore Bidae and Youngeon and put on Geummal and Seok on her feet. Overall, these results suggested that she wore Chinese style clothes. The clothes of Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sangwere very similar to formal dresses of high class women described in Yangroryeong. Some of her clothes were not shown in Yangroryeong because those clothes were added after Yangroryeong. Another reason may be due to the fact that generalized clothes could be worn even though those clothes were not described in the dress code. In conclusion, the clothes described in Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang suggest that they were based on the dress code of Nara Period of Japan while there were also some variations due to the cultural circumstances at that time.

Two hundred sixty subjects, who were living in Shanghai, China and were university students, were randomly selected for questionnaire. The effective two hundred forty four questionnaires were used to conduct reliability tests for internal consistency and multiple regressions for relationship between independent and dependent variables with SPSS 10.0. The results from this study were as follows. It showed a significant relationship between the on-line shopping experience, consumer innovation, consumer risk and the trust of on-line shopping mall, however, it didn't show any significant relationship between convenience shopping orientation and the trust of on-line shopping mall. Also, It showed a significant relationship between the on-line shopping experience, consumer innovation and the distrust of on-line shopping mall, however, it didn't show any significant relationship between consumer risk, convenience shopping orientation and the distrust of on-line shopping mall. It showed a significant relationship between purchase intension, the consumer risk and on-line shopping experience which appeared a high trust in on-line shopping mall, however, it didn't show any significant relationship between purchase intension and consumer innovation which appeared a high distrust. Therefore, it could be concluded that in China it is decreasing to purchase through the internet shopping mall every year because the group of consumer innovation, which most of internet users in China belong to it, distrusts the internet shopping mall.

The influence of tourists on the retail market in Korea continues to grow, and China has become the largest outbound-spending nation in the world. Korea's retail industry must comprehend the sophisticated consumption behavior of Chinese tourists. Hence, we explored how the experiential value of shopping in Korea affected Chinese tourists' satisfaction levels regarding stores and products. Findings from this study suggest entertainment and escapism mediate the effect of experiential value on consumer attitudes toward products and stores. This research was conducted with Chinese female tourists who shopped in Korea during their latest visit to this country. CFA and SEM were implemented using AMOS 20.0. The analysis of survey data produced interesting results. Visual appeal, crowding, and service excellence had positive impacts on entertainment, and they had a positive influence on both store satisfaction and product satisfaction. Regarding escapism, crowding and economic benefits had positive impacts, whereas visual appeal and service excellence had no effects. Results showed that escapism had a negative influence on attitudes toward both products and stores. To be clear, escapism refers to the status of absorption by which consumers are highly occupied with pleasant feelings, therefore, shopping when the motive of escapism is high is likely to be less rational and more impulsive. In this study, the diverse roles of different emotions associated with entertainment and escapism in the context of tourism shopping were identified. The findings provide practical implications for developing retail strategies and highlight the importance of the experiential values of shopping for tourists.
