베이비시터가 경험한 아동의 안전사고 (Safety Accidents which Baby-Sitters Caring Children Have Experienced)

  • The main purpose of this study was to survey baby-sitters who have experienced safety accidents of children ; the causes of safety accidents, wounded parts of the body caused by safety accidents and how to handle emergency situation. The research participants consisted of 31 baby-sitters who have experienced safety accidents of children and have been participating in Baby-Sitter Programs at S university, in Suwon Kyunggi Province. The data were collected from June 13th to July 4th, 2007 using open questionnaires on semi-structure. The data were analyzed using a SPSS PC+ statistical program. The results of this study were as follows ; First, according to the general demographics, it has indicated that 32.2% of baby-sitters who participated in this research are mostly the age group of between 41 and 50years old. And 48.3% of baby-sitters are graduated from high school. In addition, 83.9% of baby-sitters go married and 41.9% of them have only one child. Second, in terms of experiences about baby-sitting, 51.6% of baby-sitters mostly do their jobs in the afternoon. They usually cared 1 or 2years old babies in the afternoon time. 48.3% of baby-sitters experienced baby-sitting for less than 6months. And the financial support was the main reason why they decided to do baby-sitting jobs. Third, the causes of safety accidents while caring children, included 'falling down(22.6%)', 'baby-walker(19.4%)'. Also, it was found that 61.3% of children who had accidents were male. When safety accidents occurred, the baby-sitters had been doing 'feeding milk(29.1%)', 'going out(16.1%)' and 'self-care(16.1%)'. Also, it has shown that the accidents mostly occurred in the afternoon(64.5%). Fourth, the parts of the injuries in safety accidents, predominantly involved the parts of arms(38.7%), legs(25.8%) and head and neck(12.8%). In conclusion, this research was intended to provide the basic data in safety accidents of children who were cared by baby-sitters. In the further research, it is suggested that studying for safety accidents of children and safety education programs for baby-sitters should be necessary.

아동의 식품 안전 교육 프로그램에 대한 효과 분석 (Analysis of the Effects of an Educational Program regarding Food Safety for Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an educational program regarding food safety for children. The data were collected from the results of a self-administered questionnaire that was given to 510 6th grade elementary school students in the Youngnam region who had undergone a food safety education program. The results of this study were as follows. First, the educational need for food safety was high in each food safety category, with the educational need for prevention against foodborne illness being the highest of the 10 categories. On the basis of the study results, educational materials were developed which targeted personal hygiene, food labeling, food purchase, food washing, food storage, cooking, foodborne illness prevention, food additives, endocrine disruptors, and illegal foods. Additionally, about 37% of the respondents aswered that they preferred the food safety education to be conducted at home. Second, the food safety education significantly improved the levels of knowledge and behavior of children toward food safety. These results imply that food safety education that addresses the concerns of children and their parents' is needed to improve the level of knowledge and behavior toward food safety.

안전교육이 초등학생의 사고예방에 대한 지식 및 태도에 미치는 효과 (Effect of the Safety Education on Knowledge and Attitude about Jnjury Prevention among Elementary School Children)

  • Purpose: This study aimed at not only suggest some ideas useful in planning and doing the safety education in the elementary schools in the near future putting into test the safety education proposal which has been developed by researchers in accordance with the national 7st education courses but also improve health of the children through taking right safety knowledge and sound safety attitude. Method: For this study 140 student are selected from 3-5th grade of the elementary school in Kyoungki-Do and Kwangwon-Do and have been taught the safety education during 10weeks, 10times. Result: 1) After the safety education, knowledge about the injury prevention of the children show to be significantly different from that they had before(t=-9.156, p=.000). 2) In order to look into any effect of the attitude about injury prevention after the safety education there were significant difference(t=-3.755, p=.000). Conclusion: As the findings of the study indicating that safety education expand the correct knowledge about injury prevention and have more affirmative and sound attitude about injury prevention. So it may be concluded that, safety education have the positive effect both knowledge and attitude about injury prevention among elementary school children.

  • Children's play facilities have changed over a decade from the traditional play facilities in the front yard to the new type of commercial play facilities which install more exciting and enjoyable facilities, such as Kids Park. The more diversified in the type of facilities, the more difficult in the safety management by the existing system. The 'Safety Management System of Children's Play Facilities' of MOSPA(Ministry of Security and Public Administration) has provided the safety information uni-directly by government sector to the private communities. Recently, multi-directional information sharing methods, such as community mapping are adopted actively in the social activities which have common purpose for making the better community by information sharing with government and private sector. On the purpose of citizen's participation for safe play facilities and preventing accidents, this study investigated the status of child accidents and safety standards, especially focused on the children's play facilities. And the way for sharing safety information among the communities with the GIS mapping skills is suggested in the respect of more easily monitoring and practically inputting the comments on the status of management of play facilities by real users based on their experiences. It is expected that more activities from the private sector would participate to the safety management of children's play facilities by realizing the suggested system.

  • Recently, development in vehicle safety could increase interest in children's safety in vehicle collisions. But the research of children safety in vehicle collisions is not being conducted as many as that of adult's. Especially the study for the vehicle crash was not much. This study focused on the comparison of child safety between test protocols to evaluate children's safety in crash test. Injuries of Q6 and Q10 dummy were evaluated using FFRB (Full frontal rigid barrier) test and 40% ODB (Offset deformable barrier) test with one model vehicle. Even though the limit number of test, the tendency of injury criteria of Q6 and Q10 dummy between the test protocols was not conformed but injury criteria of Q6 and Q10 were not same between FFRB and 40% ODB.

유아 화재사고 예방을 위한 화재안전 교육프로그램 개발 방향 탐색 (Fire Safety Education Programs for Preventing Fire Accident of Young Children)

  • 본 연구에서는 유아들의 화재로 인한 피해실태와 문제점을 살펴보고, 미국의 화재안전교육 프로그램과 우리나라의 화재안전교육의 법적 근거를 고찰하여 유아 화재사고 예방을 위한 화재안전교육 프로그램의 방향을 탐색하고자 한다. 연구결과로 첫째, 우리나라 아동의 화재 및 화상사고로 인한 사망률이 영국, 독일, 스웨덴에 비해 높았다. 둘째, 우리나라 유아화재안전교육은 아동복지법, 유치원교육과정, 표준보육과정에서 의무적으로 실시하도록 법으로 명시하고 있다. 셋째, 유아 화재 사고 예방을 위해 유아의 발달에 적합한 화재안전교육을 실시하여야 하며, 다양한 시청각 매체와 체험활동 프로그램을 제공해주어야 한다. 마지막으로 체계적인 유아 화재안전교육을 위해 교사 및 보호자를 대상으로 하는 화재안전교육이 병행되어야 한다.

학령기 아동 어머니의 안전 인식과 안전행동 (Safety Perception and Behaviors of Mothers with School Age Children)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the safety perception and behaviors of mothers with school age children. Method: The subjects were 265 mothers of third graders in one elementary school located in metropolitan Seoul area. Framingham safety survey were used to guide the development of a self administered questionnaire for mothers. The questionnaire were sent home at school and the children returned them to their class teachers. Results: Among 265 mothers, 62 mothers (23.4%) had experience of visiting hospitals because of accidents and 201 mothers (75.8%) had no opportunities on safety education. Mothers with education higher than high school graduation showed more safety behaviors. Also, mothers having the experience of safety education showed higher scores on safety behaviors and mothers with the experience of hospital visits related to accidents showed low scores on safety behaviors. In the practice of safety behaviors, it showed high score to the traffic safety, followed by the home safety, child supervision, the safety from fire and explosion, the safety from electric devices, the safety from burn, and the safety from medicines. Conclusion: Mothers' overall practice on safety were poor. Based on these results, it is necessary to provide more safety education for mothers with school age children.

어린이 안전사고 예방교육 프로그램 개발 (Development of the Safety Education Program for Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop safety education program to prevent child accident and to improve the health of children by providing a safe environment. This program provide parents and children with information on how to prevent children from accident. Children especially can learn specific methods to avoid accident both at home, school and outside the home through safety education, which is based on problem solving. Method: This program was developed based on literature reviews, surveys and negotiation process. School aged children, parents, and teachers were interviewed to identify their educational needs based on their experiences related to child accident. During the 7th Annual Conference of Educational Courses in 1999, the Korean Educational Ministry examined the feasibility and compatibility of integrating the program into the current educational curriculum. Result: This program includes useful subjects such as safety education, preventive strategies, crisis management, guide for parent and teacher, resource persons, internet site and phone numbers of available hospital. Counseling is provided by researcher if needed. Conclusion: This program could be adequately utilized for prevention of child accident and creation of preventive strategies. It will also suggest an intervention strategy for injured children.

  • A form of consumption has been changed to a form of pursuing rather qualitative sides than quantitative sides according to an improvement of the living level followed by an increase in national income and to an increase in women's advance to society in modern society. The above change had a lot of effects on children play space, a subsidiary means within commercial facilities. However, partial children play facilities have steady children injury cases by a lack of safety management facilities. Therefore, the study investigated indoor children play facilities installed in large-scale distribution stores as department stores and discount stores out of commercial facilities in Seoul. The study investigated actual conditions and collected picture data with a checklist drawn up on the basis of the safety management standard for three months from April, 2008 to June, 2008 by visiting five places under cooperation. The purpose of the study was to grasp actual conditions of safety management of play space within commercial facilities through the contents and picture data of the investigated checklist and to offer basic data in the side of safety management of commercial facilities and various indoor children play spaces by proposing security measures for the problems.

안전성 향상을 위한 유아시설 실내환경 계획요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Interior Environmental Planning Factors for Improving Safety and Security in Early Children Facilities)

  • Recently in most homes, children are mostly cared in early childhood education facilities. However, the increased number of safety accidents on children cared in such facilities has become a social issue. For that, the purpose of this study is to suggest interior environmental planning elements to improve safety level of early childhood education facilities. This study was carried out by performing literature review analysis and survey. First, in total of 42 environmental planning elements that can be applied domestically were derived from analyzing safety related guidelines for children facilities located both domestically and internationally then a survey was carried out targeted for teachers and staffs in the facilities on importance of the factors. The results of this study are as followings. First, it is required to intensify the level of safety related training for teachers and staffs in the facilities including better treatment for them. Second, the necessity of safety environment by each space in such facilities is required to be approached upon the level of child activities. Third, facilities planning and finalizing planning are important for improving safety of early childhood education facilities. Forth, from factor analysis on the extracted environmental planning elements that are considered as important by the teachers from both day care centers and kindergartens, they were categorized in 5 groups including 'collision and fall prevention plan', 'physical characteristic consideration plan', 'evacuation safety plan', 'lock security plan' and 'outer control plan'. It is fair to say that constructing a better safety environment for children can be achieved by the environmental planning factors by this study.
